  1. Trying to summon the Darkwallker there @piddy3825? That's quite eerie looking. But yes, Happy Friday the 13th!
  2. Also here's a small idea: Why not have a feat associated with Tip Ups? They act pretty similar to snares for rabbits, though Tip Ups already have ways to increase the odds. How about: Frozen Angler: Catch 100 fish using Tip Ups Bonus: Breaking the ice in ice fishing holes is now 40% faster. Just a little idea, feel free to pitch ideas if you want something different.
  3. Something I noticed is how quickly the Tip Ups can break, especially during a blizzard, which makes sense. Tip Ups look fairly crude, pretty much just three sticks tied together, which I like. Perhaps, as our character increases their fishing level, they begin to learn just how durable a Tip Up needs to be in order to hook a Bass or Salmon without loosing significant condition or breaking. My idea is simply to increase the base condition of Tip Ups with each level of fishing, maybe an additional 5% each level up for a total of 20% at max. It's not enough to make Tip Ups last for weeks, especially in harsh conditions, but it would reflect your character becoming more experienced with crafting them. Another idea I will credit to @Leeanda, is to attach more hooks to a Tip Up at higher levels, like 3 hooks at level 5. This bonus to condition should also only apply to Tip Ups made after you leveled up, Tip Ups that are already made/placed shouldn't suddenly have their condition increased. Maybe the model of the Tip Up could look more refined as you level up, but I'm also happy with the simplistic design we already have.
  4. Maybe you could improve the Tip Up according to your fishing level. At level 1, you get the singular hook with a decent chance of breaking, but at level 5, it could have maybe 3 hooks, and degrade slowly, maybe even surviving a few blizzards. The fish caught wouldn't reflect your level still, but your character would simply learn how to improve the design with experience fishing, maybe realizing that these 3 sticks taped together won't be enough to handle the strength of a Salmon or Bass. I might go and throw this in a Wishlist post real quick.
  5. Don't try to mountain goat in The Ravine, if there isn't a rope for the climb down into Bleak Inlet, find one or go the long way. I'm sure many of us have lost a lot of characters trying to mountain goat down only to hit a death barrier.
  6. If this was about a year ago I'd ask "Why aren't there any doe? Why are there only Stags?" Why does the sun and moon appear to be so close to Earth? I wonder if this is the reason the aurora is occurring? Lastly: Why isn't there any pepper? There's salt, but no pepper! Pepper would really spice up some freshwater Whitefish, since it's suppose to be almost tasteless.
  7. Yeah, even on a pilgrim like custom game, I used Tip Ups maybe three times before deciding that it would probably be more efficient to just Ice Fish normally. Maybe if they introduced a tool to cut through the ice faster it may be worth it. I could see them being useful in Fishing Hut deprived regions, but the time spent making the ice fishing hole and then later checking for fish could be a death sentence on harder difficulties, especially if your carrying fish bait and are attracting the local doggos or bears. Or, a random thought popped into my head, what if a new recipe gave you a bonus to fishing/breaking open ice fishing holes? Probably won't happen, might be more efficient to just melt the ice with whatever hot stew you make 😄
  8. "Fried Catfish" An entire Smallmouth Bass stuffed with cattail stalks and cooked in a skillet. It's a wonder how the idea of stuffing a fish with cattails came to fruition, perhaps whoever wrote the recipe really liked cattails, or had a lot on hand. Perhaps it's better to just cook the Bass on its own. Ingredients: 3kg of Smallmouth Bass, 6 cattail stalks, 0.01kg of salt. Cooking skill requirements: Level 2 Calories: 2000 Thirst decrease: Roughly 1/4 of the meter Yield: 1 Prep time: 15 minutes Cook time: 45 minutes Weight: 3.3 kg - Positive Effects: +Max Stamina +Carrying capacity - Negative effects: Increases rate of Cabin Fever (8 hours, if enabled) Headache (1 hour) - Recipe location: Ice fishing hut beneath the bridge in Keeper's Path South (Hopefully there isn't already a recipe there) Wanted to create an absurd recipe that I would honestly expect a survivor would quickly pass up for something better. I know the negatives are a bit much, but I picture this as a meal for those who are about to leave to cure cabin fever and want a hearty meal before leaving base, or for those who are outside already, and don't plan on going inside for a long while, hence the energy and inventory boosts. Why the headache then? Well, I'd probably get a headache from reading the name of the dish, and having to make such an absurd dish when you could probably just cook the bass and be fine. I could see your character loosing sanity cooking such an absurd dish instead of spending their time elsewhere, hence the cabin fever risk. Credits to Dan_ for the layout of the recipe.
  9. Hmm, definitely going to test this one, since I enjoy making lots of teas, I want to make sure I don't burn too many and ruin a pot or can in the process. I know that teas don't take too long to cook, but even in a can, burn times for liquids usually take over 20 minutes at low levels. Could be a bug associated with passing time when cooking, but that's my best guess. What was your cooking level? I know that burn times are only really effected at rank five, but I'm definitely curious. Also, where were you when you were cooking these? I know there are a few strange spots in the world where cooking just bugs out, but they don't occur in the normal fire making locations.
  10. Finding a rifle that has been exposed to harsh blizzards for over 2 months only to slap it with a cleaning kit and remain 100% confident that it isn't going to explode in your face the next time you shoot it. Finding a broken rifle being used as a bird's nest and immediately wanting to take it to a milling machine for repairs.
  11. Excited to see how glimmerfog effects navigation in the other dlc regions. Hoping it brings unique challenges other than difficult navigation and insomnia for each one! Then again, the effect of insomnia may be made worse simply by the design of future regions. Can't wait to see!
  12. Thank you all for answering my questions and providing insight into modding. I'm especially interested in how the new Recipe menu is going to be used in the future! Definitely going to be looking more into stuff, especially when development of the game slows down. Have a great week everyone!
  13. Maybe if they have time, they could perhaps add aspects of 4DoN to custom, allowing us to allow the spawns of the insane candy bar staches, pumpkin pies and endless blizzards. Especially the pumpkin pie, I'd love to find those. I was going to ask for a recipe in game for one, but I don't think we'll ever find pumpkins in this harsh winter lol.
  14. I didn't think of that. I always disliked the idea of allowing us to skip the photosensitivity warning. Having that warning display for a set amount of time is extremely important for those who need it, and I was always willing to wait the 15 seconds or so for the warning to pass if it meant those who need the photosensitivity warning were given plenty of time to read it. Yes the skip is "convenient," but for an already fairly slow pace game, it never really bugged me to not have one. Now I just hope that those who need the warning, don't accidentally skip it when they need it the most.
  15. With the recent September dev log, the end of the Long Dark has never felt so near to me, but with the potential end of major content updates in the next 2 years, I was curious how modders thought? Especially with the potential of mods being supported in the future, are you excited for major updates to stop if it means allowing easier development, and support of mods over the long term without major updates changing aspects of the games code, which may outdate mods. Additionally, since I honestly don't know much about modding, has the recent separation of story mode and survival made modding easier? Been getting really interested in modding, but I'm also really interested in what you all may have planned for the future! Anyway, hope everyone has a great week!
  16. 🎤🐺 10/10 I want to hear this echo a crossed a region when a wolf catches a animal.
  17. Gosh this is amazing looking! Love the little details too! The ptarmigans and rabbits on the front counter presumably getting traded in for goods, the broken ATM with wads of cash stuffed into it, the pile of water bottles on the broken shelf in the fridge, and the energy drink that's just apart of the faucet in the bathroom now. Fantastic little story, and amazing placement of items! If I didn't know the context of the game, I'd think that this was some sort of shop sim. The different mods just brings the whole thing together! All of the baked goods, new canned and bottled items, if I don't stop myself now I'm going to keep rambling on how cool this all is! 10/10 would trade moose hide for cookies again!
  18. There are definitely some interesting color combos during sunrises and sunsets. Welcome to the forum btw!
  19. "Excuse me sir, your driving license has expired, I'm going to need you to step outside of the vehicle."
  20. Honestly a really good point. Maybe improvised socks are a little much, especially since getting frostbite on your feet is such a rare occurrence. I am down for a craftable pair of socks that are made out of hide or something, provide decent warmth, but are quite heavy compared to the socks in game. Something that doesn't make the immediate start of the game easier, just an item to spend those excess pelts you have. I can see some extremely fuzzy and cozy socks made of Timberwolf pelts.
  21. YES! I've noticed this lag since the dlc was released and I had just accepted it as apart of the interface. After hopping into the game real quick, and noticing that the lag was gone, I AM SO HAPPY! Genuinely amazing patch! Thank you for all of the hard work on fixing these bugs, I'd give everyone in the studio a hug if I could!
  22. I like this idea. You are still technically the survivor of a plane crash at the start of survival, so maybe a simple box to check when selecting your spawn would place you at one of the wrecked aircrafts.
  23. Might be able to find some socks washed up on a beach somewhere. The key is getting out early enough to grab them before they decay, but they should last long enough with your settings. On a interloper run I started, I found my second pair of socks at 1% on the crumbling highway coastline. I grabbed them, and immediately ran for a shelter to repair them, but about halfway there was a random tearing sound and the socks became ruined lol. If you find a pair in a container they'll likely be higher quality.
  24. I started a Stalker game with random spawns, and was placed in Blackrock at almost midnight. Blackrock is already a rough enough spawn for me, and the fact that it was pitch black didn't help. Found a flare beneath one of the power lines and immediately heard the howls of a Timberwolf pack detecting my location. I just lit the flare, turned and ran. Almost immediately I cornered myself between the river in Blackrock, and Timberwolves. So now I had the choice of either getting eaten by wolves, or drowning. I decided to take the swim and not feed the wolves.
