    More guns

I personally don't feel it would add anything to the game. A shotgun, even with birdshot, would destroy the tiny dogs in this game very easily....but the rifle already does this. So yeah. I mean, if they did add it in I wouldn't care, but I also don't care if they do. Firebows though.....
  2. I do like the idea....however I don't like how fire starting currently works and with this it would be even worse. I wish that instead of having to click through the menu a bunch retrying to start a fire it would instead auto repeat or simply have a variable time required to make the fire. It can consume the same amount of resources, I just dislike clicking through the tedious menu system this game has and I certainly don't want to do it more, even if the OPs idea sounds good to me. Alternatively of course they could overhaul the UI....it really could use it.
  3. If you have a cheap TN panel from 10+ years ago moving your head can help a lot.
  4. Well, I don't feel the stumbling adds anything for me....but then again I don't mind it either. I don't care if it stays or not. edit---- actually, I guess I slightly don't like it. It's the whole we have wheels for legs thing, which seems to be the reality of our character. Can't step over things, get stuck in little holes, can't lay down, etc etc. They should just update the character model to have the wheels.
  5. I think reducing stumble when crouched makes sense. It would also make sense to be able to lay down in the game to stop it completely.
  6. Yeah, I've watched some stuff about machine learning and I feel I understand the basic idea behind it. It's pretty neat and I like that what comes out of it can be very different than the solutions a human would come up with.
  7. Spoilers here too.... I had the feeling that it was something humans did. The guy said "we didn't do a very good job while you were away" which to me suggests it is a man made disaster. Probably a project exploring some new field of science that was dangerous or something.
  8. I would totally be up for this, as long as max carry weight also changed calorie requirements. So for example someone with a 30kg carry weight would require 2500 kcal/day and someone with 35kg carry weight would require 2700 per day.
  9. Personally I get to a point where I feel secure and then then the game is over for me. I think I need to feel some threat of death for me to be interested in playing.
  10. I always assumed it was so you didn't have to micromanage the fire which would be tedious. Also a big problem with the game is for example reading. You can't read for 59mins and 59 seconds and then take a second to throw a stick on the fire because you would forget everything you just read and have to start from the beginning. Tending a fire and reading a book in TLD would be far more difficult than it should be. Also the fires should explode like a bomb when they instantly burn 8hrs of fuel just to keep them more realistic.
  11. Metric is simply better yes, but ferenheit, or however you spell it, at least is a simple base 10 system. You don't have klumbats which are 38.6 degrees F. Man it's like 2.5 klumbats out here. Pounds/ounces/grains are like that though. And I have seen too often people thinking that 4.2 pounds is 4 pounds 2 ounces. People who prefer imperial can't even use it properly. And don't get me started on ounces where there is oz and floz. If you have four ounces of sand what do you have?...what oz are you measuring with? It's a disaster. Anyways I had a point beyond ranting about how terrible imperial is, and that is people in canada aren't standardised yet so to me it would be perfectly natural for our survivor to use a mix of pounds and celcius. I don't know anyone who would use gallons though. That would be weird.
  12. My suggestions are in places that you know it's easy to get lost like the ice where it all looks the same you can leave trails of things like cat tail heads. Also once you notice a blizzard starting you should be looking for shelter. You can aim for a location that is useful. Shelter is optimal, or alternatively something like some power lines, a road, railroad, river, etc, which you can follow to shelter. And once you aim, don't turn at all. Even if you're the best person in the world at it eventually you would fail which could result in death. Unless of course not turning would result in death.
  13. Yes you're completely correct in saying that it's machine learning not AI, I was inaccurate when I wrote that.
  14. I found it a little slow/boring myself. I was curious about things that were happening, but nobody talked about it. It was okay though, I watched the entire thing. Something I really did like was that they seemed to have someone on staff that had some knowledge about science and technology. From the rifle buttstock and spaceship having those AI created structures....and a few other things I don't actually remember right now. But yeah, so many shows have really bad science and really stupid characters so this one was nice to watch in that way.
  15. I think the game is supposed to be closest to a place like vancouver island. One thing to consider, currently, is that they have a set number of artists and they're likely busy working on other things right now. Potentially once the story part of the game's art is done they will look around for other things to work on.
  16. They could make a generic "burned wood" that simply takes the fire time left and divides it into chunks to get the quantity. I would like to see this as micromanaging the fire, while easy in real life, is tedious in this game. Especially when reading 59mins of a book doesn't count and you forget everything you learned the moment to take 5 seconds to throw a stick on the fire. Either that or have the explosion idea I've brought up before. All the energy of the firewood is instantly consumed and the fire detonates like a bomb, the intensity is determined by the time left on the fire before the wind caused all the wood to burn in 0.000001 seconds. This would follow conservation of energy and be acceptable and more realistic.
  17. Me too. There is a reason why I stopped playing AAA games. They're slot machines that pay out poo but wrapped up to look nice.
  18. I don't think hinterland has the resources to create a game with really good graphics. The unique style of the game is a calculated move to make it look at least okay without blowing out the budget. That being said, this game already has 4K I am quite sure. Quake 2 does too, and that came out in 1997. Having engines where you can select your resolution is handy.
  19. TLD, the game where you strip down to your underwear and head out into -50 degree weather to fist fight a bear.
  20. My most recent game of STALKER: Anomaly I am going through playing that when I die I die. I play a lot of games like that as I find it makes the game much more enjoyable. And it really does impact how you play. Suddenly jumping those bandits to try to get their loot doesn't look like a great idea unless you have an advantageous spot.
  21. I think I use middle mouse for sprinting in TLD, though depending on the game sometimes I use capslock.
  22. It seems strange to me to even have acceleration/deceleration on a controller....how much you push the stick gives enough control? Why would they add in this complication? edit------------- I wouldn't tell you to "git gud" because I know the controls in this game aren't great even on PC.

    Chainsaw

Considering that not having a bed is a death sentence you would think our character would be really good at making them.

    Chainsaw

Even putting aside that a chainsaw wouldn't work there is no point in making a house warmer because they're all warm enough already. The temperature inside never gets very low so it's pointless to put effort into making it higher. Now if indoor temps would drop to what it is outside then it might be good. Until then I would never consider insulating/fixing a house.
  25. Lots of things have the power and volume as the same button so that could be an easy way. What might be harder to know is what band to set the radio to so that it makes enough noise. Or the other way would be just wait for an aurora then set it up and you would know after the first one. It would require you to catch one and then prepare for the future. I like preparation stuff so I think this would be my preferred option.
