  1. They wouldn't be useless, they would be useful at the start of the game as a temporary buff when you're trying to run around and get set up. Whether they're easy to get at the start of the game, or even worth going for, is another issue.
  2. I just read what I wrote and I just want to clarify in saying that I did some minor research, I didn't wish to say in some aggressive way that you could do some minor research. I see that it could be interpreted in both ways. But yeah. If you have a little kitchen scale you can see how off clothing weight is too. I tried a few pairs of socks and a big warm hat I have since those are what fit on it.
  3. I purchased this game in early access at my own risk to help fund the story mode. That is what I want to play the most but I am waiting for it to be done before playing. It's my number one wish for this game, though obviously having a better survival mode helps with the single player too.
  4. It makes sense that you could rig an aurora alarm. It would be neat to have it as a crafting option. It could also reduce the tedious sleep in hour intervals thing that happens which I think is a good idea.
  5. You're right about the water, it's the right weight. And you're also right that I could carry 45kg and walk around. However carrying 45kg up a steep slope is hard work, I tried carrying a backpack full of weights up a mountain just to see. I made a post looking at a few weights in the game, if you're interested in some minor research you can check it out. I think the water is the only thing in this game that isn't way off. https://hinterlandforums.com/forums/topic/37990-more-realistic-carry-weight-and-item-weights/?tab=comments#comment-202478
  6. I am always down for more variety, but I hope the density of animals doesn't increase.
  7. All the weights in this game are unrealistic. I wouldn't be too concerned about seeing 45kg because it's not actually 45kg, it's probably closer to 21-22kg. Everything else is double or more the weight of what it should be. Of course saying it makes inventory management too easy is valid. I haven't tried the update though so I can't comment on that too much. Mostly what I wanted to say is that if you're looking at realism you need to keep in mind that all weights in this game are double anyways.
  8. Oh no, then you might enjoy the game more. That is simply unacceptable. Infact I think feats should only be enabled for those who are playing interloper past 200 days and they're restricted to living in hushed river valley the entire time. All feat progress for everyone should be wiped for the new and much better feat system.
  9. If our character can repair a freakin' firearm and make bullets at a machine shop they can easily repair or make crampons.
  10. I find with the lowest possible animal amount it's still way too high.
  11. If they do look at how they've done the controls for the PS4 I hope they look at them for PC too because they could certainly use some work. Way too many actions on a single button when we have this giant keyboard to work with.
  12. If they did add getting too hot/sweaty to the game I really hope they would improve the UI to make it easier to deal with. The current UI is barely passable overall and I would hate having to deal with heat if I had to use it a lot.
  13. I feel there are already way too many wolves, even on the lowest possible setting in custom. But I think that about all animals so that's not surprising. Anyways my point is that I would like it if the challenge came from other places such as colder temps being available, harder to find food, allow indoor temps to drop based off of outdoor temps, home heating, etc.
  14. I would love to see hunting get an overhaul similar to what you're saying. Yes deer have far far more than 10kg of meat on them, plus the actual calorie count on the meat is over double. Even if we made new hunt deer have ten times the calories of current deer it would still be under what it actually is. There is no worries at all about getting unrealistic the other way around. Just for fun I figured out what the size of the dogs in the game are, in terms of calories, and they're about the size of a cavalier king charles spaniel. I would love a mod where the current dogs get replaced by them, along with all their sounds. In many ways it would be a realism mod too. It sounds amazing. The king charles struggle. But yeah, rambling aside, making deer/etc much harder to get I think would be great. Having the hunt be harder but more rewarding. Not knowing if you're going to be able to get food that day or not. Sounds great to me. I think there would need to be two extra parts to what you've said though. Number one would be heavily reducing the population, probably by at least 90%, of everything. If you see animals everywhere like you do currently it's never going to be a hunt, it will simply be shoot the animal outside your door like it currently is. Second one is the tiny little roaming areas that exist now would have to go. Deer and such need to be able to wander all over the map so we can't just look over the hill at deer spawn point A and know there is nothing there and move to point B. We would need to actually around for them. Now some supporting things that could be added is something like making animal tacks last much longer than they currently do. This would allow an observant person to track down these high reward animals Another potential is to make it so dogs aren't so hyper aggressive and mindless. Currently you can throw on some guts and go for a short little walk and dogs will swarm in to donate their meat to you. It makes hunting them incredibly easy. Anyways I am out of time, but yeah just some thoughts.
  15. If the game isn't consistent I do find that a bit of an issue. If the caves are different but look exactly the same I don't like that.
  16. I always have to cycle to the torch as well. It seems obvious to have that as the number one choice. It's so slow clicking through the scrolling menu system too. I think hinterland would benefit from hiring someone to come in, play their game, and fix all those little things. Someone who enjoys their game and is good enough at working on games that they can do small tweaks and fixes. Like for example I've been playing Stalker: Anomaly and I notice things like shotgun damage using a single pellet(of eight) for the damage calculation tooltip info and so I change it so that it uses slugs to more accurately reflect the damage they do. Or changing from 9x18 to 9x19 on some weapons doesn't actually do anything, so I fix that too. That's what they need. They don't need some senior game programmer, just someone who enjoys the game and knows enough to help.
  17. All games "rip eachother off". TLD is built upon all of the good games that came before it. It only takes one person with a good idea, like using the mouse to look around in an FPS game, before it becomes normal practice. TLD is a little unique in that it tries to have the environment be more threatening, though I do feel it suffers a little from the typical zombie hoard thing still(replace zombies with dogs here). But perhaps in play testing they found it was more engaging or perhaps simpler to have to kill a bunch of dogs instead of focusing more on environmental survival. Personally I would be happy if TLD gets some clones, it could kick off a new batch of games. Survival games that focus less on zombies and more on the environment. That would be great.
  18. Personally I think it sounds more interesting to have to actually deal with the cold instead of magic warm houses/caves(though the caves could be at least a little warmer because of ground heat).
  19. The crampons can totally be frozen. You need to warm them up to 1500 degrees to get them to melt so I am not sure they can actually be unfrozen in the game. What is the max forge temperature?
  20. At most it would happen when they're just finishing up the game. It's like that to make the game easier to make. I would say it's almost certain they will stay. It would be nice though.
  21. I haven't played with it so I don't know how to feel about it. But having it as a custom game toggle would be nothing but benefit. edit--------- I just wish to mention that I know that my hands get really bad at doing things when they're really cold. I don't have shivering but I would be significantly less effective in other ways. I could see liking it myself. But without actually trying it out I wouldn't actually know. In theory I could like sprains too but I really don't.
  22. If you're on steam I would try validating the files or whatever they call it. Check integrity of the game cache?
  23. I find it....interesting....that the devs put in all this brutal stuff in the game but then don't want people talking about it in the forums too much. It's like I want this game where you go around snapping necks and shooting bears and letting them howl in agony for hours but I don't want to be reminded that it actually happens. It's very dissociative.
  24. If only you didn't have wheels for legs you could have gotten out
