  1. Uh not they're not. We've paid for the content already, in early access, in good faith to fund development of the game like a publisher does. We took the risk of buying an unfinished product with the hope that we will get something good in the end. They are not charging like paradox does which is good because I don't buy their games because of how they operate with their hollow shell of a game for full price to be filled in with an actual game with DLC chunks which ends up costing 800 dollars. I am still disappointed they're making that new vampire game, what a waste. Oh well. I would love to not have those moments of me going "oh for fricks sake" while getting jammed up in twigs Also another game without jump was alien isolation. I specifically remember early in the game I was trying to get through a spot and there was this perfectly passable object acting like a brick wall. I sit there going "really?...". Thankfully that seemed to go away after the first part and I think a big difference between alien isolation and TLD is that in alien I wasn't getting stuck on every knocked over mug like I do in TLD. The game worked well without jump. Sadly I don't feel that TLD does.
  2. I don't think matches decay anyways. I don't know if medical stuff does but I imagine it shouldn't anyways. Inside at least. But yeah, why they haven't done this already I don't know. It looks like low hanging fruit to me.
  3. There are a few posts on the forum which used science to help make better choices. One was the wolf struggle one which looked at which weapons were most effective in melee fights with wolves, there was another recent one with fishing, and a similar one with rabbit snaring. As to actually in game mechanics with science I don't think the game is realistic enough to really benefit. At least not with anything I can think of. There probably are ones but I am not able to think of them right now.
  4. Is it actually a ravaged corpse but displaying as one that isn't? It's theoretically possible that a bit or bits flipped and it changed what happened in your game beyond what was programmed for.
  5. I think they said this wasn't something they were going to do. You will just need to wait for new regions.
  6. This is slightly off topic but science(the scientific method) is the acquisition of verifiable knowledge. Whether that is quantum mechanics or finding the best places to snare rabbits. Science is always useful.
  7. Yeah. I already don't like the variable condition matches. I think it would add even more tedium to the game if it were added to wood and other things. Besides, fires in TLD always completely burn everything they touch. Always. How could there be a half burned anything? It wouldn't make sense in the game world. The storm lantern idea is good though. I have zero issues with that and it would add extra stuff to consider when playing which is a good thing.
  8. Too much work, there are like 5000 spots I get stuck on. Twigs and pebbles and bits of snow, tiny pieces of wood and such.
  9. Pressing buttons fast like that makes my fingers hurt. I don't want to do permanent damage to my hands. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carpal_tunnel_syndrome Also I don't find pressing buttons quickly to be fun. Honestly I am surprised you do, I didn't think anyone did.
  10. Last time I played I got stuck on a snow drift on the road. It was sad to see my character get stuck like that, though I guess on default settings our character traded the ability to get over 2cm high snow drifts for the ability to shrug off near death bear maulings within a day.
  11. I don't click a bunch of times for wolf struggles. I don't need carpel tunnel. There are options to turn it into a hold the button down thing.
  12. I strongly agree with this. There are multiple games I watched a little gameplay of and lost interest in immediately upon seeing QTEs. Others I just stopped playing when I encountered them.
  13. I personally like the timberwolves better than the dogs we find everywhere else. Timerwolves actually do those nipping attacks out in the wild too so bonus points for that. I of course take some points off for their hyper aggression. Maybe it's just my lack of experience with them that makes me like them more though, I can't be sure. edit------------- Also I am not a fan of quicktime events so I wouldn't be a fan of adding in timing stuff, especially if they randomise the key you need to press. One possible change I would probably do would be to remove the wolf sense of aim. The moment you aim a weapon they know and I just see it as stupid. It's extra stupid because you can point the pistol at them and even shoot them and they don't react, but press that aim button and there they go. What?
  14. Dogs(they're not wolves) really do need some work. The decoy thing I played with a little after reading it wasn't working and it seems to trick is to be far enough away. A reliable way I found of doing it is to wait until the wolf has just finished a catch up cycle and begins moving slow again. Then you sprint ahead, drop the goods, and run. Seemed to work every time for me. But yeah more on topic I would love it if the dogs became more unpredictable. Right now it's the same thing every time. Find dog, find good area to kill dog, aim for a moment to frenzy it, shoot it in the face when it comes charging in. The dogs don't even need to see you aim the weapon they just know. How they know and how they understand is baffling. There is never any difference in how they act. They follow you predictably every time, frenzy exactly the same way, and die exactly the same as the last 200 dogs. They're so predictable that they become tools. Agro a dog, run it to a deer, get in a car(or whatever), it goes after the deer, kill or scare off the dog. This is made even easier that there is a dog for every snowflake in the game, and if you load up on guts they come from far and wide to give you meat.
  15. I am always amazed when people are at fire starting 4. I typically barely get into lvl 2 and unless I am outside with a magnifying glass starting a bunch of fires I don't think I've ever gotten to 3. That's so many fires.
  16. It's perfectly normal to eat an entire buck in two or three days. What do you mean?
  17. I jump reasonably often. A number of times this year, but I didn't go out as much. But I live in an area that benefits from it. Also if I couldn't lift my legs you can bet I would be jumping far more often. Stairs, door lips, etc
  18. Or character suffers from a debilitating memory issue. That's why you need the full hour and also why if only read for 59 minutes you have to read it all again because it's forgotten. On the plus side our character commits the entire book to memory so you can memorise how to make ammo in only a few hours. But yes the game would benefit from being able to read for 40mins, throw on a new steak, and get back to reading
  19. Interesting. I just did a couple. My super warm hat is 106g, my socks(between sports/wool) are 50g, and my hoodie is 528g Your bomber jacket is really heavy. I will have to check how much mine is sometime. Anyways my hoodie is over double the weight of TLD one(and almost certainly warmer, how is a hoodie the same warmth as a t-shirt??) The socks are off by more than 3X and the hat is at least 2.5X off(mine is triple layered, I assume TLD ones aren't since there is no mention of it). So yeah, just from my minor testing weights are off by over probably 150%. Maybe some are accurate, but the ones I just checked are way off.
  20. I always wonder what the heck all these "wolves"(they're dogs not wolves) are eating. How you can kill so many dogs and they just never stop, swarming in like locusts stripping the land of everything.
  21. I don't think this is fair. Weights in TLD are ballooned well beyond reason so you have to cut that at least in half. It would be 10-15kg of gear and maybe 3-5kg of clothing. Either that or we have to account for our character's herculean strength and stamina.
  22. We need rain ponchos with all this wet minus 40 degree snow
  23. Heh we must play so differently. I have been mauled by bears twice ever that I can recall. Once outside of hibernia while I was harvesting a wolf and the other time near the radio tower in pleasant valley. I was taking a way with a lot of blind corners and by the time I saw the bear I was way too close. I do imagine you have more hours in the game than I do. I don't think I have made it past day 100 or so. The first time I ever tried killing a bear I managed to get in what I thought was a good position. It was pretty high and the bear would have to run pretty far to get me so I took my first shot and it just started charging after me. Good thing its path was so long because it took that long to shoot it enough for it to die maybe 3-4 meters from my face. That got my heart rate up. But yeah, I always avoid bears unless I both have a reason to kill them and am in a good position to do so. Same with wolves and other animals, I often leave them alone because I wouldn't benefit from killing them. Wolves have the nice benefit of coming right to you if you want food though. Just load up on some guts. They love delivering their meat to you. Some wolves are so for giving you their meat that they deliver it without you even ordering it. You're like, no wolf I am really not that hungry, and it's like oh are you sure? Look how tasty I look. Yeah, no wolf really I am okay thank you. Then it's like, I insist you eat me and it's just like fine as the arrow goes into wolf number 50's brain.
  24. I didn't know those were called ponchos. I always called rain ponchos ponchos.
  25. The other thing to consider is HL seems to already invest time into fixing all the places people get stuck. Having it just not be a problem anymore would save that time. Next time I fall through the floor into a bathtub I could just step out of it like a normal human being too which would be nice.
