  1. Looks like your graphics card has... (•_•) ( •_•)>⌐■-■ (⌐■_■) ...met its match.

    Dried meat

To be fair you certainly CAN use sodium chloride to cure meat. You would just want to make sure to get the non-iodized kind because the iodide in regular table salt can make the meat taste a bit off.
  3. Wouldn't fit the environment, those are migratory birds and this is winter. All the waterfowl are half a content away.
  4. You need to have the sewing kit in your inventory when you use the crafting bench. This is a very common mistake for new players. The fact that the sewing kit shows up as an option in the crafting menu does not mean you actually have one in your inventory. If you did, the sewing kit's condition would be displayed, and if you have multiple sewing kits you can cycle between them. The same is true if you have fishing tackle in your inventory. Frankly I think this should be fixed because of how frequently this comes up, but I guess there are bigger fish to fry.
  5. Depends primarily on skill level. Once you've gotten everything to level 5, blizzards are actually something of a blessing.
  6. Use the opportunity to safely transport meat. Get back to my cave and cook up what I have, come back for the rest later. Also depending on how hot you managed to get that fire you might be able to just take your clothes off (prevent blizzard damage) then carve off 1kg of meat or 1 gut at a time. If your fire is windblown it gets capped at 9 minutes, but only takes 6 to carve out a 1kg steak at level 5. Cut one steak off, toss a stick in, cut another steak off, toss another stick in.
  7. The coal mine is considered part of Coastal Highyway, and uses its weather table. This isn't obvious or easy to discern, but in the Darkwalker challenge every region's has its own clock that every interior location that's part of that region shares. The Cinder Hills Coal Mine shares its clock with Coastal Highway.
  8. An aurora in PV. Sunny days happen on average about once a week for me, compared to an aurora maybe once or twice a month. For someone who actively collects all the buffer memories...PV is a slog. I can only speculate but I think that whatever table RNG checks the weather on, several of the "Aurora" slots have been replaced with "Blizzard", because if I add up the number of blizzards and aurorae, it's roughly equal to the aurora chances elsewhere. Good chance to level up Mending while I wait though.
  9. Not quite, if the wind blows just right you can be subject to the full force of the blizzard even with the door open. The fire may keep you warm and dry, but your clothes still take a pounding.
  10. I don't have a problem with a shortage of symbols, but I personally would LOVE the ability to spray paint words. I think that would be a ton of fun, beyond just the utility. Can you imagine the screenshots?
  11. I usually say something snarky to the computer like "Gee I dunno, can't possibly have anything to do with the fact that you've just walked 20km with a 40kg pack."
  12. You're only going a couple paces, it's not enough time for the animation to catch up so your character's arms are still moving from when you were going forward. Take it outside where you can run for like 10 seconds in a straight line, you'll see what I mean.
  13. No you don't. Test it again outside somewhere when you can get up to full speed, you will see that you can run forwards, but your speed backwards is the same whether you're holding sprint or not.
  14. Me either. I'm just saying, if you're gonna add a debuff for exploiting hydration, you should add a buff for honoring it. Or just do nothing and leave the whole thing alone.
  15. Personally not a fan of adding afflictions for the sake of adding afflictions. If you ask me, the condition loss from dehydration represents the situation sufficiently. The fact that you can get by on 0.66L of water per day is fairly unrealistic yes, but the general system of "lose condition if your needs aren't met, regain condition if they are" is good enough. If you're going to add an affliction for abusing thirst, then you should add a reward for keeping well hydrated to balance it out. Otherwise you're just stomping on people's toes for no good reason. I seem to recall a survey somewhere polling people on what they disable in Custom games, and Cabin Fever was right at the top by a huge margin. Now say that spending a lot of time outdoors contributed a buff which you couldn't obtain if CF were disabled, people wouldn't be so quick to nix it. Likewise I could be bothered to always keep thirst above 0 if doing so earned a buff that, I dunno negates the hit to your thirst from eating foods like crackers or beans or something. Just a little pat on the head for taking care of yourself, similar to Well Fed.
  16. To clarify the previous answer you must load Astrid's backpack and hardcase, into the storage compartment of the plane. You can choose to bring one item of your own--either a case of food, some medical supplies, or a distress pistol. Once you've loaded your item into the storage compartment, click on your parka to exit the hangar. (The coat with the Jackrabbit Transport logo on the table.)
  17. In the past I had my own system of marking paths and buildings with sticks and stones, so for me spray paint is just a convenience. That said, it IS superior to marking with sticks and stones since the markings are bright orange and can be placed at eye level. Not to mention faster. Plus the fact that they show up on the map means I don't have to backtrack and re-check everything looking for markings. I mark paths in caves, even if I know the way, just because sometimes I space out and end up taking a wrong turn. Buildings and cars I will mark as "Materials" when searched, and if I break down everything inside for scrap materials, I erase it and replace it with a "Searched" X on the door. Cars I will paint an X on the hood if I've searched and removed the battery, otherwise "Materials" if I didn't take the battery I know I need to come back. I mark confirmed Moose spawn points and fishing huts that have doors as "Hunting Area". Confirmed bear spawns I will mark as Danger, mainly to differentiate Bear hunting grounds from Moose hunting. And I like to paint arrows on the shoreline pointing to fishing huts, and another by the hut pointing back to shore. Makes finding them in the fog less of a chore. Places with multiple lockers, I will paint Food, Clothing, Tools, and Materials depending on what I have stored in that particular locker. It's useful stuff. You can certainly play the game without it, but I never leave home without a can now.
  18. It's based on number of fish caught, not weight. Catching 10 lake whitefish at Mystery Lake will get you from Level 1 to 2 the same as catching 10 Coho Salmon at Coastal Highway.
  19. A rifle in that poor of shape, I'd probably leave behind to be honest. I'd move on and keep looking. If you're in Mystery Lake, I'd suggest Pleasant Valley as your next target. Between the farmhouse and outbuildings, not to mention the two hunters blinds, you've got a really good shot of finding a better rifle as a wholesale replacement for the one you currently have, in addition to cleaning kits and more ammo.
  20. Definitely Mending. The number of successful repairs to reach level 5 is just absurd. Even on a Pilgrim game actively repairing every article of clothing you find in the game up to 100%, you will literally run out of cloth and leather before you reach level 5. (Edit: Unless you're actively ripping up every curtain and towel in the universe.) It's absolutely ridiculous. The only way to reach Level 5 is to deliberately rip up perfectly good clothing in order to repair other stuff from 99% to 100%. Specifically the jump from Level 4 to 5. Getting from Level 1 to 2 requires 25 successful repairs which is OK. Then to level 3, 50 more successful repairs. Still not bad. The leap from 3 to 4 requires 100, which is getting to be a bit much but follows the simple pattern of "every level requires twice as many repairs as the previous." And then going from 4 to 5 continues this pattern, requiring a whopping 200 successful repairs. That's almost an order of magnitude what it took you to get to level 2!! Compare to say Archery, where 150 total successes puts you at Level 5 outright. Or Rifle Firearm where it's only 100. Mending is just way off target.
  21. IMO killwalls should only exist in Story Mode. In Survival, just let us go wherever we want. If we get stuck well we had it coming.
  22. Spring for me. When things start to melt, you don't have to worry about whether or not your car is going to start in the morning, and you can go for a walk without bundling up. 20C is my comfort zone. Autumn is probably #2 but I don't know, I just prefer to see newly budding trees and plants to withered sticks and dead leaves on the ground. Winter is my #3 season since I can always layer up if I'm cold. Summer is dead last.
  23. To be perfectly blunt assertions like this are one of my personal pet peeves. Unless you're a software developer with game development experience on the engine in which the game is designed, never presume something is easy. It may seem simple, but the best software always does. It looks simple. It takes complex, extremely convoluted problems and makes them easy for the end user. That said, I would personally appreciate if construction materials were decoupled from the article of clothing itself, allowing you to choose the clothing item to craft, and the material to craft it with. Wolfskin pants, improvised cloth jacket, bearskin boots, etc.
  24. As far as I'm concerned Improved Sprains was implemented already...in the form of the ability to disable them entirely in Custom games.
