  1. The devs are terrified of people getting badges in custom modes easier than pilgrim so it won't happen.
  2. Tea and pop(it's pop in TLD despite what the devs say) are equivalent at cooking level 1. As soon as you get cooking 2 tea is better than pop. At cooking 3 for example, 250g of tea will give you 325 calories. At cooking 5 tea gives 375. Significantly more than pop. That being said, while I do like to carry tea when I am going long distances I also carry an empty can or two. Water you can make pretty much anywhere anytime so you never really have to carry it. The tea I carry is more for higher need situations which may or may not happen.
  3. Ah, yeah. I do agree with you there. It's something I noticed too.
  4. I like both this one and the new one. I think it would be cool to have all the opening menus available to chose from or to set to random so you get a variety.
  5. I would like there to be more variety in animal movement. They seem to have little circles that they hang out in or pretty strict paths.
  6. I don't feel any need to get to the top either. Maybe something smaller like guaranteed mountaineering socks would be good? If it's just more of the same then as you've said there isn't much reason to go up there, especially since it's not zero risk.
  7. I don't really have any strong feelings about the mapping system in TLD. I wish it were somehow, for me, worth using though. It's just a part of the game I never interact with because it never has a payoff for me. I don't know how this could be solved though. I think what might be interesting is if the whole map was just visible right from the start. Would I use it then? If the answer is yes then the current system could be saved....but if not then the map as it is is just useless for me, at least with how the game is currently. Perhaps if resources were more scarce maps might be more beneficial? I know they point out resources but if you have enough anyways then it doesn't matter if you miss that one deer carcass. Anyways I am not the one who is working on the game so I will stop there.
  8. haha no. Actually I didn't do any romance stuff, I simply don't find it interesting. What was strange for me is in the game I ended up having two of the girls ask me to chose between them when, from my view, I showed no romantic interest in either of them. Apparently the game thought differently, or perhaps no romance at all wasn't even an option. It was so out of the blue and I was like....what?
  9. TLD kinda hasn't been out for a while. It's not finished. From my perspective hinterland put this game out to buy in early access so people could buy it to help fund development. And that's exactly why I got it. I've messed around in the survival part of the game but I am mostly interested in playing through the story.
  10. With the original mass effect, one of my fav games ever, I played through as both male and female. I ended up liking the female voice actor better so that's who I ended up playing as. I think primarily I like good voice acting, the gender is less important to me. edit-------- You know what's interesting? I don't find I have a preference over male or female in this game but I did in mass effect, even though it's the same two people who do the voices. I wonder what exactly in mass effect made me like the female char better?
  11. I haven't done a serious comparison but I wonder if it's easier to stone rabbits with the female character than the male. I assume the male hands are larger and block more of your view. The difference must be pretty small though, since I've not noticed or thought about it before.
  12. To me starving to death in a blizzard sounds fun. I am looking forward to some mods which will shift the challenge more towards fighting the weather instead of endless wolves.
  13. There was a mod, back in the modding days, that added body fat as a long term energy store. I think you will have to wait for modding to open up to require more than 700 calories. Or, make a custom game where you don't regen life while sleeping. That's what I am doing for now.
  14. It's an interesting idea but I am not sure how it could be done without either it being obvious it's a dream or players having to repeat large amounts of gameplay.
  15. Our character suffers from many severe and debilitating conditions. I think it would be fun(ny) to have a mod where you can select your status effects. 1) The disease where you grow bone all through your body(horrible). Effect: cannot look out the back window of a car 2) Raging diarrhea. Effect: Cannot sleep for more then 12 hrs without dying of thirst 3) Fused legs with hooves. Effect: Cannot jump, however you gain the abilities of a mountain goat. 4) rifle phobia. Effect: cannot hold the rifle out for more than a few seconds
  16. I am in the realism crowd so I don't like the idea of the crossbow doing more damage than a rifle. It wouldn't even be close. What could be done, since crossbows work with a trigger, is it could effectively be a bow that you can aim with without getting tired like you do with a bow. Plus it would be ready to shoot very quickly. No drawing or anything. It would still have advantages that way. Crossbows are good because people who aren't good with a bow can use them and be effective but they suffer in many ways. Perhaps that could be in the game, a crossbow is relatively good if your archery sucks, but drops off as archery improves. Of course you could also switch the crossbow out at that point for a compound bow which I think would be much more common. They can be held ready to fire much easier than a typical bow. Regular bows, drawn out, are not easy to hold for any length at all. What's funny though is our person can full draw a bow for quite some time but struggles to hold up a few pounds with the rifle. It's totally the opposite of what it would actually be.
  17. no, though it might be. I have a desktop and a laptop. On one I use galaxy and on the other I use the website. I do notice the galaxy version gets updates pretty quickly compared to the website. My guess is that the galaxy client is much more automated. edit-------------- Since it was easy to check I grabbed my laptop and checked for updates. 1.81 was on galaxy 2 days ago, 1.80 was posted 19 days ago. I am pretty sure the galaxy client is much more automated like steam is so the GoG crew don't have to manually post stuff on the site(and possibly make the 1.80-1.81 patches and such)
  18. It pops up on the Galaxy program before the website.
  19. I would also like the indoor temperature to be adjustable....very adjustable. This is pretty much what I would want as a rough idea each in game hour: indoor temp = indoor temp - ((indoor temp - outdoor temp)/10) + (fire temperature(s) / 5) The numbers/equation would have to be played with of course, I am just making them up. But the idea is to have it so the the house will always be chasing the outside temperature but can be warmed up by a fire. The larger the temperature difference the faster it will change. Having to actually heat a house could make for some more interesting gameplay I feel.
  20. I figured you wouldn't even mention what I said previously. Sorry, but there is a good chance it's hinterland too. We could always ask hinterland if and when they sent in this hotfix though they tend to not respond.
  21. We need mods so we can make it -1000 if we want. Or we need better control over the custom settings. Temp settings from -10000 to +10000 with 1 degree increments, 0-100% wolf spawns with 1% increments, etc. But yeah, mods.
  22. I think it might be possible at least at one of the spawns(I think it can spawn at two spots? Maybe?). It's on my list of things to try whenever I happen to play around in HRV. Last time I tried I could get past the brush without a hatchet.....but getting back I am not so sure. It may just be a death sentence.
  23. None of the foods/drinks in TLD are what they would be IRL. For food rabbit meat is particularly off at a factor of about 4X. As to why herbal tea has 100+ calories is a mystery too. I can understand why they did it, but I also think it would be nice if things were balanced AND made sense. That being said..... I've never seen a bottle of syrup in TLD, however looking at TLD wiki the syrup is 300g. Assuming the bottle has zero weight and that the 210kcal per 80g you looked up is correct you get 787kcal for a bottle. Of course the bottle itself will have weight so those bottles should have less than that. If you're looking for it to be more realistic the syrup should be nerfed.
  24. The aiming stamina thing is kinda strange to me. I am quite sure I've shot a lee enfield before and I don't recall my arms getting tired at all. I would think that I would have noticed if that were something that happens within ten seconds? Maybe I just don't remember but I find it pretty questionable. It's never been an issue for me in the game, but my brain looks at it saying "seriously?"
