  1. I think the game is supposed to be closest to a place like vancouver island. One thing to consider, currently, is that they have a set number of artists and they're likely busy working on other things right now. Potentially once the story part of the game's art is done they will look around for other things to work on.
  2. They could make a generic "burned wood" that simply takes the fire time left and divides it into chunks to get the quantity. I would like to see this as micromanaging the fire, while easy in real life, is tedious in this game. Especially when reading 59mins of a book doesn't count and you forget everything you learned the moment to take 5 seconds to throw a stick on the fire. Either that or have the explosion idea I've brought up before. All the energy of the firewood is instantly consumed and the fire detonates like a bomb, the intensity is determined by the time left on the fire before the wind caused all the wood to burn in 0.000001 seconds. This would follow conservation of energy and be acceptable and more realistic.
  3. Me too. There is a reason why I stopped playing AAA games. They're slot machines that pay out poo but wrapped up to look nice.
  4. I don't think hinterland has the resources to create a game with really good graphics. The unique style of the game is a calculated move to make it look at least okay without blowing out the budget. That being said, this game already has 4K I am quite sure. Quake 2 does too, and that came out in 1997. Having engines where you can select your resolution is handy.
  5. TLD, the game where you strip down to your underwear and head out into -50 degree weather to fist fight a bear.
  6. My most recent game of STALKER: Anomaly I am going through playing that when I die I die. I play a lot of games like that as I find it makes the game much more enjoyable. And it really does impact how you play. Suddenly jumping those bandits to try to get their loot doesn't look like a great idea unless you have an advantageous spot.
  7. I think I use middle mouse for sprinting in TLD, though depending on the game sometimes I use capslock.
  8. It seems strange to me to even have acceleration/deceleration on a controller....how much you push the stick gives enough control? Why would they add in this complication? edit------------- I wouldn't tell you to "git gud" because I know the controls in this game aren't great even on PC.

    Chainsaw

Considering that not having a bed is a death sentence you would think our character would be really good at making them.

    Chainsaw

Even putting aside that a chainsaw wouldn't work there is no point in making a house warmer because they're all warm enough already. The temperature inside never gets very low so it's pointless to put effort into making it higher. Now if indoor temps would drop to what it is outside then it might be good. Until then I would never consider insulating/fixing a house.
  11. Lots of things have the power and volume as the same button so that could be an easy way. What might be harder to know is what band to set the radio to so that it makes enough noise. Or the other way would be just wait for an aurora then set it up and you would know after the first one. It would require you to catch one and then prepare for the future. I like preparation stuff so I think this would be my preferred option.
  12. They wouldn't be useless, they would be useful at the start of the game as a temporary buff when you're trying to run around and get set up. Whether they're easy to get at the start of the game, or even worth going for, is another issue.
  13. I just read what I wrote and I just want to clarify in saying that I did some minor research, I didn't wish to say in some aggressive way that you could do some minor research. I see that it could be interpreted in both ways. But yeah. If you have a little kitchen scale you can see how off clothing weight is too. I tried a few pairs of socks and a big warm hat I have since those are what fit on it.
  14. I purchased this game in early access at my own risk to help fund the story mode. That is what I want to play the most but I am waiting for it to be done before playing. It's my number one wish for this game, though obviously having a better survival mode helps with the single player too.
  15. It makes sense that you could rig an aurora alarm. It would be neat to have it as a crafting option. It could also reduce the tedious sleep in hour intervals thing that happens which I think is a good idea.
  16. You're right about the water, it's the right weight. And you're also right that I could carry 45kg and walk around. However carrying 45kg up a steep slope is hard work, I tried carrying a backpack full of weights up a mountain just to see. I made a post looking at a few weights in the game, if you're interested in some minor research you can check it out. I think the water is the only thing in this game that isn't way off. https://hinterlandforums.com/forums/topic/37990-more-realistic-carry-weight-and-item-weights/?tab=comments#comment-202478
  17. I am always down for more variety, but I hope the density of animals doesn't increase.
  18. All the weights in this game are unrealistic. I wouldn't be too concerned about seeing 45kg because it's not actually 45kg, it's probably closer to 21-22kg. Everything else is double or more the weight of what it should be. Of course saying it makes inventory management too easy is valid. I haven't tried the update though so I can't comment on that too much. Mostly what I wanted to say is that if you're looking at realism you need to keep in mind that all weights in this game are double anyways.
  19. Oh no, then you might enjoy the game more. That is simply unacceptable. Infact I think feats should only be enabled for those who are playing interloper past 200 days and they're restricted to living in hushed river valley the entire time. All feat progress for everyone should be wiped for the new and much better feat system.
  20. If our character can repair a freakin' firearm and make bullets at a machine shop they can easily repair or make crampons.
  21. I find with the lowest possible animal amount it's still way too high.
  22. If they do look at how they've done the controls for the PS4 I hope they look at them for PC too because they could certainly use some work. Way too many actions on a single button when we have this giant keyboard to work with.
  23. If they did add getting too hot/sweaty to the game I really hope they would improve the UI to make it easier to deal with. The current UI is barely passable overall and I would hate having to deal with heat if I had to use it a lot.
  24. I feel there are already way too many wolves, even on the lowest possible setting in custom. But I think that about all animals so that's not surprising. Anyways my point is that I would like it if the challenge came from other places such as colder temps being available, harder to find food, allow indoor temps to drop based off of outdoor temps, home heating, etc.
