  1. I'd go for bedroll, the coat is too heavy and sleeping in long chunks confidently removes a lot of my stress while also recovering my condition lost better. I also rarely get to see the coats work as intendend. Maybe the coats could add a percentage to how much each action (throwing, shooting, injuring) lowers the timber wolf morale? Or a static 10 percent of the bar for each action.
  2. Rest up, and enjoy your Winter break. Your fans will see you through next year! Happy Holidays! The holidays are all about community and family, and I'd like to thank all readers for fostering such an amazing community right here. Shout out to all the users and admins that made this feat possible. Who knew such a lonely game could bring so many people together?
  3. @Hausmusik, Timberwolf morale meter can be disabled in the menu now. Idk if it works for story mode. The part where you had to find all the crash site victim's IDs first really broke my immersion too, it really should've been optional but it builds up to show that there are a few other surviors you have to carry out from various points of the valley as well. I think they should remove those other survivors from the story and just focus on making the plane crash one a more difficult and longer ordeal. The part where you carry the first survivor was pretty exciting! But the challenge and suspension of disbelief would've been much better if carrying her drained your stamina or exhaustion meter, making your trip back a much longer and more difficult ordeal. This isn't because I think Astrid should be weak, she's far from it. In some ways she's stronger than Will. From a character perspective I think she can do it. But she's carrying someone through deep snow and mountains with a heavy backpack on. It's okay if she needs to take breaks other than only stopping for timberwolves or cold. I also agree that being able to equip the other survivor with clothing would have been a nice feature since the crash site provides you with plenty to spare. I don't mind not having to give the survivor food. Just worrying about water and warmth is okay (the trip won't last more than a week hopefully anyways) but dealing with the physical ordeal of carrying someone should've taken center stage. Maybe Molly leaves you a snow shelter in a strategic position to take refuge in when you get tired. Overall, I'm fine with the first survivor, it was exciting enough and I felt satisfied when I got to Thompson's crossing with her safe. But there's always room for improvement. I was less fine with carrying a few more that didn't even add to the story much for good measure. But I suppose there's something to say about Astrid's dedication to her doctor profession (even though she's a research doctor?)
  4. As of now, those with the steam version can "Auto walk" by holding "w" as they open the steam overlay, release "w" and then close the steam overlay. If Auto walk gets added, I'd like the ability to turn my head independent of my body along with it. Being stuck looking straight forwards as you auto walk makes it hard to watch for predators or drink in the pretty sights.
  5. The revolver and flare gun have this really strange hang-time where you cant fire immediately after aiming, but the rifle still lets you. I've been charged many times by timberwolve's while spamming the trigger button and not being able to get a shot off until after they're behind me due to this strange feature. You can shoot your rifle wayyy before both pistols! It makes no sense. But from how you described it, you were already aiming for a considerable amount of time? This would make accelerants way more valuable as a result and used more often as well, great solution! As of now, I'll be harvesting a deer and a wolf will attack me through my campfire before I'm able to threaten it with a stone, also, they don't run far enough away and keep coming back. Thanks again for shedding light on some weird wolf behavior; your videos demonstrate them very well and have helped me adjust my playstyle for now. I'm always carrying a stone with me from now on. Could you direct me to this @blackknights video you mentioned? I'd like to check it out.
  6. You're welcome. Just remember you wont get all the spent resources back on snow shelters.
  7. The odd behaviour is very noticeable at the hydro dam, Ill be tending a fire inside the fence and wolves will ignore the fire and try to charge me though the fence, only to run away less than half the distance they used to and come back. Wolves you scare don't go far enough away and keep resetting their aggro.
  8. By rings they meant player created fires with the ring of stones. Snow shelters can be recycled too. Basically you are able to clean up badly placed fires and shelters.
  9. I just jumped into a Stalker game and what the heck is wrong with the wolves? They see me through hills and i cant lose aggro on them by walking behind stuff like I used to. I met up with a wolf halfway down the hill for the mystery lake lookout tower? It didn't see me beforehand but it must've smelled me a long distance away... Twice I've been harvesting a carcass with a fire right next to me and had a wolf attack me. A wolf took my decoy actually, but did nothing about it and kept walking towards me. Successfully hitting them with a revolver doesn't break their charges. Trying to be as sneaky as possible, the journal states i had 78 wolf close encounters, in just 18 days... Just what has transpired in the year or so since i left Stalker for Voyageur?
  10. Maybe the challenge description or objective notes needs to include the helpful tidbit of "hey survivors, you wont regen health!" Those who don't visit the forums and know of Deadman won't understand why they can't get condition back and might assume it's a bug. The only clue was "as your life ebbs" in the description.
  11. Judging from your writing and that i would've never guess you were ESL. I noticed an accent but I couldn't place where it was from. Overall you were very easy to understand. I have an idea, maybe they could recycle the timbedwolves' circle-and-charge action on the bait? Then theyd follow through and run off away from the player.
  12. @jeffpeng, Yeah, its always a bad sign when a change to your game causes a lot of people to think your game is bugged instead of an intentional change. Not everyone reads patchnotes and wikis. I never use baiting but this function is totally strange since mechanically you can use baiting to drop aggro and pick the food item back up while sneaking and get out of there. Or simply use bait as a distraction until you get your stamina back up to grab the decoy and run. I never agreed with using decoys to hunt but I also think this working as a "get out of jail free card" is not the right approach. Why can't the wolf charge the bait from an angle and snatch it mid run? Nice video btw, great demonstration.
  13. Im not sure I want them in every region. And definitely not as common as they are in the inlet. I enjoy how they force you to actually let go of some resources while at the same time being pretty straightforward/consistent in their mechanics. But they definitely feel a bit more gamey and annoying when they make up more than one or two groups in a map. They respawn wayyyy too fast as well.
  14. @GothSkunk, @ThePancakeLady, I know hes supposed to be in the gas station. But in earlier versions you were able to meet him at the gas station just before climbing down the rope and see him already down there before you. They patched it in a hotfix and now he disappears from the gas station as soon as you are awarded the rope to keep him more vague and less like he teleported in mere seconds. I totally agree with both of Methuselah's role in the story. I was just pointing out that an early bug made him seem even less vague and mysterious because he was quite literally in two places at once.
  15. @GothSkunk, the inconsistency of the crash is based off of Molly telling you you were out for a few days (on top of your character at spending at least half a day in Milton.) and Father Tom saying the plane crash in Pleasant Valley was yesterday. I'd like to believe in the First flare being worldwide too but if that were the case, either Molly or Father Tom aren't telling the truth. This inconsistency doesn't have anything to do with the player not following the story right away either bacause its still off even if you go straight for Father Tom. Methuselah most definitely is a figmant of imagination but him being In the gas station before you climb down was a bug. Either way, he still beat you down there without a rope.
  16. Ladders should work similarly to car doors Imo. No animation needed. Speaking of ladders reminded me of how i got up to the top of Molly's barn where she shot the wolf using the planks in the hay. There's nothing up there
  17. I think I'd be ok with the flare gun possibly being used with one hand but unable to reload after one shot. What confuses me is why do they use two hands for the flare gun but aim the revolver with only one? Has anyone also noticed a long delay after aiming both pistols where you can't fire?
  18. Starting any survival mode works to trigger it too.
  19. In hindsight my post does look a bit disingenuous. I assure you it's there, like an inconspicuous little gift at the back of the Christmas tree. Lol.
  20. @stratvox, Yeah, thats why I suggested monolith lake because that seemed like a more believable area. But I didn't know the running water had to be audible! Hat creek seems a little steep for a dam. With beavers youd get a cool parallel/contrast to the hyrdro dam If they were put in the lower area in Milton, that water is what supplies hat creek.
  21. @ThePancakeLady, @stay puft, @dbmurph22, @MrWolf. @everyonebinthethread. The devs took your feedback from Crossroads Elegy and added an option to disable them in the menu. Go to Options/display/Timberwolf Morale Meter/Off (The devs didnt include it in the patch notes but we can forgive them for that 😋 ) Ill be keeping mine on because it reminds me of a certain dark souls boss's health bar.
  22. Right, even if it's decided that we can't kill the beaver, itd be nice to have evidence of it still existing. Like how we can hear loons etc. The Muskeg and monolith lake in Hushed River Valley would be a nice place to add it.
  23. I soent 3 weeks waiting for a snare to catch a rabbit and gave up on that quest. lol.
  24. Fluffy may be confirmed as not dead, but it was never confirmed where exactly she was. The only evidence we went off of was the wolf in the ice cave appeared alongside her disappearance.
  25. I actually stopped picking up plants until I actually need them, I harvest one region full of them and stop there. If there comes a time i need more I will get them and it would be like its own little mini interloper mode in the process.
