That's an unreachable ledge, or at least I couldn't figure out how to get up there. Alas!

My bear was just at the flat area at the top.  It took some creative shimmying up the angles in the rocks to do it.  But I didn't have bear quarters scattered everywhere to contend with.

I have really been enjoying this game again after some time away.  All the fleshed out details have taken an already excellent game and just boosted it to that next level really bringing a newness about it that makes we want to play for hours on end.  anyways, I ramble, but that's what I do... I am a rambling man and the Nomad life is the way for me.  Really lovin the Nomad Challenge, it's making me examine a whole different style of game play.  Very cool, indeed.

Moose Hunting right outta my back door...

so i am walking up to the quonset hut relatively overencumbered after spending the morning out at the fishing shack and as i crest the little snow burm across the street I stumble across a wolf on a fresh deer kill right next to the station.  It hadnt noticed me and i was able to draw my bow and with my only arrow I took him out for an easy two for one shot.   Suddenly I hear a bellow across the way and there's a moose posturing aggressively, (never seen a moose in that area before,) so I switched to the rifle and took a shot.  Now that kinda made him angry and when he charged i was able to dispatch him with another round.  screen_d05f526b-318a-40ee-8ac8-04d77a98d7f4_hi.thumb.png.cfd859e6478cb0598f0dc70e870da0a1.png

Nice looking animal with a pretty impressive rack!  I inspect my kill and it yields 37.4 kilos of meat...  I head back into the quonset to relieve myself of the 12 kilos of fish and to gear up for a lengthy harvesting process.  I knew there was still a little life in the big guy because when i came back outside, he had moved and was now laying on his other side...screen_e1144100-c994-4b38-8ac0-f01d290547e1_hi.thumb.png.64b14955180fdf6ae470038a422260c7.png

after a long harvesting session, 5.4 kilos of wolf, 9.8 kilos of deer and 37.4 kilos of moose meat.  subsequent cook time was almost 14 hours nonstop once i got it all inside.

Some choice screenshots from my saved screenshots folder, in no particular order. Every now and again, I just have to stop, ignore the cold, the wind, the danger, ignore everything and just stop and marvel at the sheer beauty that can be found in this game.

How great is this shot? It looks like the whole horizon is on fire.

Flying Mountain Goat

Had a sinking feeling this was a bad idea and proceeding a couple more steps I fell from this height.  Nearly died.

But for those few moments you were floating on cloud 9?

Was your survivor lighter than air? Or perhaps have a sinking feeling?

Was there some bad granola in the plane that resulted in a bad trip? ;)

I'll stop now. :D

I haven't done one of these in a while. I'm hanging out in the Forest Cave on PV.

Woke up nice and early:

Decided to go climb around those rocks out in front there and look out over the valley. It's nearly windless out, with the stillness you only get in the early early morning. I get over there, and look east along the ridge:

Then I turn and look west, towards the Radio Tower:

I settle in to watch the sun rise, but a few minutes later an eastern wind picks up:

I turn again to the east and face into the wind to get a feel for it:

I can tell that weather is coming. I climb around the formation because I noticed some fir logs over that way that had fallen in the night. I start chopping one up, and just as I'm close to breaking the last long piece that east wind brings a whiteout. I'm only steps away from my cave, and get back there and feed the fir into the fire, and turn to look out:

It doesn't look like I'm going too far this morning. The moose hide I have drying in the back of the cave should be ready to use to fix my cloak. I guess I'll turn to getting it in shape and see how the weather is when I'm done.

It's odd. As best as I can tell, it's been ten months since I crashed here, and yet there's been no spring... and the weather seems to be getting slowly worse. Is this the dawn of a new ice age? If it is, what will become of me... of us?
