  1. Oh wow, great geeking @conanjaguar!
  2. Happy holidays Raphael, and the whole team. Hope you have a wonderful break and can forget all about TLD for a bit!
  3. So happy to find I'm not the only person who calls the survivor Mack!
  4. "You played this game some more in 2023" Steam and the art of the understatement (Session number is inflated due to a bug lately where my FPS is trashed if it launches in a high resolution, so I did a lot of launches where I'm just changing to low-res and then restarting. But it's still probably close to 300...)
  5. How beautiful is the map reveal from the middle of three-way cave? I am in love with the symmetry of it. (Also, it's giving strong Klingon vibes!)
  6. This makes sense for realism, but (for reheating) we can put a huge number around most fires and reheat them that way, and that would be a quicker reheat time than the whole lot in a pot. Plus we'd have to have a mechanic for adding several cold teas into the pot, which we don't currently have - I imagine it'd be basically like the flask's mechanic.
  7. My memory of those kinds of flasks is that taking a swig would be a no-no because it would be far too hot (even worse with a cold face), so the tea is always poured out into a cup. This is my headcanon for the mechanic of taking a cup out and drinking one at a time.
  8. To be honest, I used this as a project, as an excuse, to learn some spreadsheet stuff, and had so much fun I have added way more than I really need, just for the nerdy fun of playing with formulae.
  9. Ah, a kindred spirit! Mine has lots of little lists, like how many bears killed, how many blizzards, and I have made good use of lookup tables. I even made a calculator for how much time is remaining on a x% cured item because I cba doing the maths every time. I want to make a little video of it to share, but they keep adding items and I can't stop tweaking it : ) The only problem is being motivated enough to keep it updated!
  10. Poor thing has snow in its ears, lol
  11. I watched PerfectTrip go in blind to the ZoC on NOGOA and it was pretty amazing:
  12. There is SO MUCH birch bark in ZoC, in one place very close to a base, too. Not sure if Harvestable Plant Availability affects birch bark seeing as bark works so differently from eg rosehips, but if it does, I have it turned way down, I have availability of everything turned as low as poss. If it's tied to blizzards, the blizzard setting for my ZoC run is on low, too. So if I'm getting loads, everyone will get loads.
  13. I agree that this thread isn't an example of the kind of complaining that bothers me. I also understand why @Enigmaecho said what they said here. The frustraation is cumulative, and there's been so much lately, my compassion for it is wearing thin. And while the comments in this topic have been of a more speculative and less pre-emptively complaining nature, it is a topic that I would worry invites that (the title more than the actual question). So I get it. I wouldn't mistake not yet having an opinion for indifference: I'm not indifferent at all, I'm very excited, and I can't wait to find out how it works and whether it is something that I'll want to engage with.
  14. I have been known to take a screenshot of inventory to save writing stuff down. These days I use a spreadhseet in another window which works really well. Can't wait for the photography stuff.
  15. I totally recognise the phenomenon you're describing. However, the flask doesn't degrade with use, so it's no harm to use it, plus there do seem to be quite a number of them around the place, so I don't think I'll be put off. It feels more like a mag lens than a stim, if you see what I mean.
  16. Yup, the complaining about things that are fully justifiable choices Hinterland have made are very wearing in this otherwise joyful and positive community. Complaining about things that we don't even know what they are yet (scurvy, the trader) is not only wearing but also makes no sense to me at all. I don't have an opinion on the 'trader' because I don't know what it is, and nor does anyone else. We have just been told one word, that is literally all. There is simply nothing to complain about. I'm not ragging on the OP here, though, the question was posed as speculative, and speculation is understandable and can be fun.
  17. Hinterland did say that it was an affliction geared towards longer runs and later gameplay, so this is no surprise really. As I said before, none of us is going to get to grips with it properly until we've had a chance to play a new run for a good length of time.
  18. Yeah, for me this is a great balance between the healthy black wolves and the tinberwolves. Scary enough to be not routine, but don't bring the game to a standstill for a while like Timbies do. Fighting animals is the least interesting aspect of TLD for me, but I am really enjoying these godforsaken creatures.
  19. That sounds more like a jump than a fall. I am picturing falling as falling over, part of my body other than my feet making contact with the ground in an uncontrolled way, and I could easily smack my backpack into a rock wall as I do.
  20. I leant my beloved flask to someone who left in sitting on the bonnet of their car then drove off. They retrieved it when it fell into the road, but the plastic that was part of the seal broke and it was useless after that. Gutted. I'm as astonished as Raph was that someone thought damage caused by a fall was unexpected. Yes, falls! Things break when they fall! Things you're carrying break when you fall! Gravity is merciless and the ground is hard.
  21. That's pretty cool! I always liked the Old Bear's Den very much and would love to have it in Survival mode. Your version sounds even better! I had a TLD dream last night too! I'm amazed I don't have them more often given how much time I spend in Great Bear both playing and watching streams. In my dream I was playing a Holodeck-like live-action multiplayer version of the game with a bunch of community members. We were in the Concentrator building in ZoC. It was insanely cool!
  22. I didn't interpret it as a mistake, I figured the wolves don't want to follow me into the toxic waste (they don't have wellies on like I do). I use the pools of toxic waste as a way of managing the wolf threat.
  23. Is this true for the Mine Gate key also? I have found 4 things that require keys, and only two keys found (non-Tales run)
