  1. Of course it does! 100% emersion baby!
  2. @odium Me too! I like to start a new stalker while too drunk sometimes just to see how far I can get. My husband really gets a kick out of it "shhh!....SHHH!...I think there's a f*ckin' wolf....shhh!"...aww...good times
  3. I really want a Hinterland coffee mug, that looks just like the ones in-game. One day!
  4. Now that we have the auto-walk toggle, my current favorite is if I'm trudging across long open areas. I also drink when she drinks... It's not usually water >.>
  5. Nice drop! I've just recently opened up to TWM. For some reason I'd be avoiding it. I'd been there and I'd climbed the summit, but I had never gone back, and the time I had spent there was rushed. Now I'm on interloper and have learned the TWM is an essential early stop for good gear. So I started a Stalker run to learn the map better and OH BOY! this is a great map. I'm kicking myself for waiting so long. As for 'meat to your door' I've recently learned the trick of luring wolves into bow range with rock throwing. I'll sit inside the hut and lob rocks until I catch their attention. Then it's open season! I've even shot a bear using the rocks to lure him in. I LOVE THIS GAME! ❤️
  6. I personally am a fan of the real-time feel TLD has. I can understand why folks would want features like 'fast travel', but to me, that's part of the game I'd be missing out on. Even when I play games like Skyrim, which has several fast travel options, I typically choose to walk or ride a horse to my destination. Sure it means that I could play for the 1.5 hours I have free before work and not accomplish a whole lot on 'on paper' but I still enjoyed the journey. I also don't know how you'd mitigate the potential dangers that you're, in essence, skipping. or (with the time sped up) you'd likely die more often because you'd be in deep crap with a wolf or bear before you had time to slow time back down. But again, that's just me. I wouldn't mind it if they added this as an option though, I'll just stay over here leisurely survivin'.
  7. Fun tip. you can throw rocks to lure wolves to or away from you! So, how you mentioned leaving the bait and wanting to shoot the wolf when he goes for it? Instead get in a good spot to shoot from, throw a rock to land roughly where you'd like the aim your shot, and the wolf will go to where the rock lands! sometimes you need a few to lure them if they're farther away. This also works on bears. You can also do it to distract them so you can more easily sneak past.
  8. Green Hell has been treating me well. It's a bit harder than TLD survival-wise and a bit more... um.. graphic? Like you get infected wounds you have to treat and it's photo realistic. You also can get 'worms' from sleeping on the ground and you have to... uh.. .remove them. It has a story mode and challenges just like TLD and the game is gorgeous. There's a bit more crafting than TLD, mostly by way of shelters. But there's fires, cooking, and hunting. Predators like snakes and jaguars and tribal folks that want to eat you. It's a fun game. You might enjoy it.
  9. I know I'm not the first one to mention how beautiful the TLD is, but sometimes I'm just dumbstruck with how stunning the skies can be. I don't know what magical codes they use to make the sky seem as unique as it does. I know each sunrise and sunset isn't actually one of a kind, but there is so much sporadic variety that it feels that way. I'll literally marvel aloud when I see a particularly pretty view. This is from Andre's Peak in TWM. I was out surveying and had lost track of my fatigue and daylight. Being that I'm at 122 days on this stalker run, I've got nice warm furs so I felt safe spending the night on the peak in a cozy nook. I chopped so wood for a fire and enjoyed a sunset that seemed to set the sky ablaze. I slept soundly by a warm fire through the night before waking up with the dawn. I watched the sun rise as I cooked a breakfast of rabbit and rosehip tea (just for the warmth bonus when I set out) Another beautiful day on the mountain. Time to see what new skies await me on my journey.
  10. @Constantine crouching is the way to go! One, for the reasons stated above. Two, because your prey cannot detect you as easily while crouched. So you can get closer to them so you can get the great shot! I also just learned you can lure wolves with rocks! So my new favorite way to shoot them is to crouch in a prime shooting spot, then lobe a few rocks to attract the wolf right where I want him.
  11. I work in healthcare, so I've been working through Quarantine. While I'm super thankful to be working and not financially affected by the lockdown, I am a bit jealous of those getting to game a bunch. I do play about 2 hours a day though, so I'm still getting my TLD fix.
  12. I'm too excited!! I cannot wait to hit a new map!
  13. I found them by the Pensive Pond. The road to here was thick with wolves, wolves that I handled lightly as I was well equip with arrows and the knowledge surviving endless days brings. This poor soul was not as lucky. They had nothing on them, save the frozen cloths on their back and a serene view. I'd like to think that when either wound or exhaustion brought them down, they had chosen to rest here. Maybe they used to come fishing here with someone they loved. A father maybe? Or maybe they brought their children here. Either way, I hope the memories they had here from before the snow warmed them... even if for just a moment.
  14. Having some complexity to the nutrition system would be fun. I'm happy with how it currently is, with just calories, but requiring diversity in those calories would add some difficulty. If you've ever played Green Hell, that's the kind of thing I'm thinking about. So you can't survive by eating red meat day in and day out. You need carbs, protein and fats. So I guess they'd need to add more edible harvestables. Again, I'm really happy with TLD as it is, but the nutrition system in Green Hell is brutal in the most fun way.
  15. I thought it'd be cool to be able to "vanquish" it. Maybe if you collect all 10 of the pages you get a new glyph, but it must be placed in a circle of fire or something? Like a ritual to send it back to where it came from. Could be neat
  16. My longest was 234 on Stalker. I'd like to think she'd still be surviving if I hadn't gotten boxed in by a bear and ran out of bandages. I survived 3 maulings trying to get out of the canyon I was cornered in, but died on my failed 4th attempt. I was much younger and dumber then. I should have just hid on a ledge and waited the brute out. My current stalker is at 157 days and she's fiddling about TWM to finally get that map under my belt. I've always avoided it, but I need to learn the summit for my interloper run (I've been told it's essential to long term survival on interloper) My Interloper best is only 48
  17. I really enjoyed reading and watching your adventure unfold. Thank you for sharing!
  18. @hozz1235 I was literally about to suggest the same thing. The only way to get familiar with the maps in to do them in a less stressful environment. You can also google a more detailed map on your phone and pause the game periodically to refer to it. Keep with it guys!
  19. eh, I agree with @ajb1978 here. The Darkwalker is VERY difficult in caves, but not impossible and to me it just added to the terror. I experienced the 'coming from both ends' like scenario in the cave between CH and DP and I was able to dodge em. essentially I took a stim and ran screaming towards the exit and juked past him. Now the trick was that once you exit the cave they're still right on your butt. Buildings were easy though, I just entered and sprayed a glyph ON THE INSIDE and then I was save to take a much needed power nap. But yeah, it's frustratingly hard, but not bad IMO
  20. If you get the badge for 6/10 diary pages then you get endless night unlocked
  21. Had the same thing happen! The Darkwalker was getting close and a deer ran down from a boulder. I had to pause the game....
