  1. When a blizzard comes it totally refreshes the beach with the new mechanic. If you don't pick up things that have washed ashore, they will disappear with the next blizzard. The same goes for the boats unfortunately. Don't sleep in fishing boat or else it will disappear from under your feet if a blizzard comes 😂. Not sure if you can place a bedroll in there in the vanilla game because I was using the place anywhere mod at the time. Love the new mechanics though. I haven't read the whole thread but has anyone figured out if fishing boats spawn in Interloper?
  2. Thanks Hinterland! Just wanted to show I support your decision as well. We can wait for quality content @The Riddler not really sure where you are getting this information. From what I see you are the only one that complains about the content of the dev diaries. And for the record, they've made a diary for February, March, April, and May this year (not every 3-4 months).
  3. Wow, that's intense. I never knew that bear could even enter the crash site at all; there's an invisible wall that predators can't cross at Skeeter's Ridge but can animals come in from up the hill? Maybe that wall was removed recently. I wonder if the bear heard you. If you have no scent, animals can still hear you if you move around while they are close by. They'll start walking towards wherever you made that sound like they would a smell.
  4. I have always wondered... what type of tree are these? Just curious.
  5. Hmm, I've noticed different pathing for bears as well. Not a big deal to me though; I enjoy the randomness to where they go. Just yesterday, the Clear Cut bear in Mystery Lake fell through the ground while I was hunting him (I used Dev Console fly mode to find him. It was the only mod I was using so I don't *think* it was cause by that but I don't have proof). I don't know how or why and don't have evidence so that stinks, but I decided to fly down to where he was a harvest him up on the floor of ice underneath the region 😂
  6. When you bait an animal with a decoy, it's hard to know what item you're actually going to drop. You have to drop all of your smelly items and pick them up in a certain order so that you drop the right item, if you want to drop something specific. If I'm holding a rabbit carcass and some fresh guts, I would rather drop the rabbit but the game might drop the gut instead. I have two suggestions: Add a radial menu for decoys. The current radial button for decoy simply drops a decoy, just like the decoy shortcut does. Instead, it would be useful to see all of the smelly items you have, just like the other radial menus, so that you can choose what you want to drop. OR Add a "Add to Radial" button to smelly items. Doing this will set that item as the default when you drop a decoy.
  7. Whaaat, I didn't know you could find the plane crashes without the DLC. That's epic; there is stuff to loot, too!
  8. Lol! The incorrect size bugs are always hilarious
  9. I like your general idea. The longer you survive, the stronger you get.
  10. I have not purchased the DLC but I wanted to make a few notes and suggestions on the features added into the free stream. Beachcombing 9/10. I really enjoy the fact that you know 100% that the items on shore have been refreshed after a blizzard. The objects like containers, boats, and harvestable items like pallets, planks, etc. are an awesome addition. There are two things I dislike. 1) ammunition can be found. There is already a lot of ammo in the world and having an infinite amount via beach combing defeats needing to preserve your ammo. This is the only item I wish wasn't able to be found while beachcombing. 2) The fishing boat disappears during blizzards. If you are beachcombing and a blizzard is starting, naturally you would take shelter in the fishing boat if it was there. Nobody wants to get stuck out on the ice in a blizzard. But half way through the blizzard it just disappears from under your feet. If possible, it would be nice if it only disappeared while you are not close to it. Besides that, I absolutely love the new beachcombing! Acorns Acorns right now don't really appeal to me for eating. I don't know if I will ever find myself having to eat them because I have no other source of food. I would save them for coffee instead. But the process of shelling the acorns, cooking them, grinding them, and then finally brewing them can take over an hour in-game for one cup of coffee. There is enough manufactured coffee in the world that spending the time to make acorn coffee doesn't make sense. They would only become useful once normal coffee runs out, after over a hundred or two hundred days of survival. Solution: allow acorns to respawn or add more per tree. I assume they don't respawn because we make a mess under the tree of dirt and snow. Even if more acorns were added, I still wouldn't use acorn coffee much but it's nice to have that option if you can't find normal coffee. But nevertheless it's a great addition. Fire Hardened Arrows 8/10. Easy to craft and serve a basic purpose: rabbit hunting and scaring off wolves. It's a great way to earn archery skill too. They are balanced as they are, but I was hoping for a little more punch from the arrows. I was expecting to be able to cause damage to animals, but never get critical hits. But by the looks of them they don't do any damage whatsoever; sometimes the wolves just walk it off after they get hit. Suggestion: allow the arrows to cause minor damage. Like the hammer in a wolf struggle; it damages the wolf but doesn't cause any injuries or bleeding. It would take multiple arrows to kill a wolf or a deer, but bears wouldn't take damage. I don't usually go for bunkers in a lot of my survival saves so I don't have anything to say about the new ones. I haven't found any yet. Overall the update is pretty awesome for getting it free. I hope acorns get tweaked to make them more worthwhile, but everything else is pretty balanced and useful.
  11. I think the old sound was a free sound anybody could grab from online. I've heard it in multiple games before. I wonder if they changed it simply to make it more unique or using their own sound (just an assumption, I don't know why it changed.) But I agree that the old one sounded more like crows.
  12. The update video is premiering in 8 minutes so I presume the update is being rolled out either now or very soon
  13. I generally just have one base which usually just holds my tools, food, and firewood. Everything else I leave behind when I don't need it. Once I loot all of the regions, I usually go to the Camp Office in Mystery Lake to grind the rest of my days. Fish and deer hunting there, and a day trip to the forge in Forlorn Muskeg. I usually take occasional trips to Bleak Inlet for more bullets too but that's about it. If I ever go to another region, I just take a hatchet and bow/rifle to gather wood and food whenever I need it.
  14. You can see what time of day it is by pressing tab on computer. If you're on console then you can look in options at your controls to see which button shows the "quick stats." It shows your condition, time of day, and scent (if you have any) on the screen.
  15. We need to remember that the studio is in Canada and it is currently still the 29th in North America. They have over 24 hours to fulfill their promise yet. And no, you really shouldn't take off work for a game. This update will be here tomorrow and it will be here next week; no need to play it the minute it comes out.
  16. No harvestables respawn. Plants and saplings don't return once they are harvested. However, in 2.06 you can find cat tails, birch saplings, and maple saplings while beach combing. But reishi and rosehips are a limited resource, but so abundant that you probably won't run out of it. I say 2.06 because I don't know what changes to loot and beach combing are coming tomorrow with the new update.
  17. I go with cold fusion and the calorie consuming one (I forget what it's called lol). I had a good Interloper run die to starvation and I started choosing it ever since. Hunger also seems to be an issue for a lot of my runs.
  18. The hammer scares the wolf away the quickest, but does not injure it. The hammer will damage the wolf but it won't make it bleed out. The second best option is the hatchet. When you are charged by a wolf, aim your bow down farther than you would originally aim. You'll either hit the wolf or land the arrow at its feet, which may scare it away (but doesn't always). If you hit it at all, the struggle will end a lot quicker. If you don't, you might scare it away before the struggle.
  19. I couldn't figure out which crow picture was better, so I sent both. Epic sunset at Signal Hill (or was it sunrise... I forget now lol)
  20. Going for the acorns for sure; then I want to see if you can make fire-hardened arrows on the Hunted Part 1. Finally got a bow and I want to give the Old Bear some pay back without wasting precious arrows. They might just make him mad though, lol
  21. Interloper day 1, sprained ankle, dark, heavy snow, and the last thing you want to see is this, lol.
  22. The healing buff from a cup of Birch Bark Tea overcomes the condition loss from exhaustion. Your condition will rise during those two hours. Just found that out and it really surprised me
  23. I thought fire-hardened arrows were going to be added to the free version; the roadmap shows that we will get fire-hardened arrows without buying the expansion pack. Is this still true? Will it be released to us without the DLC later in the future?
