  1. I've noticed that if you spend a long time on a slope (even if you are not moving), you have a higher chance of getting a sprain as soon as you move. You don't get sprains for sitting on a slope, but you will the moment you move. I slept and passed time without moving while on a slope and got a sprain the moment I moved, so try not to move if you've spent a long time on a slope.
  2. I think I'll be going outside at night more often. The sky is so epic
  3. They will still burn if you don't pick them up and put them back down but I find that to be relatively minor and something that we can live with for now. Thank you for the update! Really glad the voice slider is fixed now
  4. This looks really fun! Question: Are we allowed to make only one submission? Or can we make multiple submissions if we want to participate in more than one category? (Sorry if this was already stated but I couldn't see if it was)
  5. I'd definitely eat moose but not any of the other ones lol. It's funny how in-game we will happily eat a can of dog food if we find one but wouldn't touch it irl 😂
  6. Before the last hotfix (or the hotfix before that; I don't remember) the Old Bear on the Hunted would always spawn in the gate; 100% of the time he was there. It made for a tight situation while trying to get out. This was changed in a recent hotfix now because if you could get out of the gate without him following you out, then he is usually stuck in there forever. You can then walk to Trapper's in peace. You can't close the gate on today's Hunted but apparently the Old Bear AI isn't smart enough to get out when trying to chase you. If you entered a building or slept the bear would respawn. As long as you stayed outside and awake, he would remain stuck though.
  7. For anyone who doesn't want to know the shortcut don't read this message lol. I take the same route you would when leaving the mine, but backwards. When you first come to that area above the ice that surrounds the prison, just before the fallen tree (where you would exit if you just came from the mine), you would have to go down the tree and down a few falls before getting to the ice. The terrain is designed to prevent you from going back, but it is still climbable. To get back up, you have to get as high as possible and then walk up slopes and on the sides of rocks. It's hard to explain but basically that path is two ways if you can find your way up.
  8. Any time I'm in Blackrock, I always go for the noisemakers at the mine. Do I use them? Well... very rarely I do lol. I use them for timber wolves and apparently they have a chance of scaring aurora wolves (I tested it and they will run but maybe not 100% of the time), so I keep them on hand for that. I found a very convenient shortcut to get to the mine though. I can go from the prison to the mine and back within a day, but I won't spoil it for anyone and I really hope Hinterland doesn't change that (it's not easy to do). That's why I always go there for the blueprints and the workshop code. Fortunately you can craft noisemakers at Bleak Inlet if you have the blueprints so that helps. So yes, I use them, but not very often. I'll usually burn a flare or a couple revolver shots before using one. They are good for the times where you don't want to risk anything and you want an effective deterrent without using flare shells.
  9. Finished video here on my YouTube channel: (It is a part 2 so if you want to understand what's happening, you can find part 1 on my channel).
  10. I was playing the early access launch and dropped some jeans on the ground and that's what happened lol. A lot of items will become giant when dropped in that build.
  11. Reading stories like this makes me want to get back into Interloper. I always get bored after crafting a bow but there's always more to do; gather wood, hunt, fish; even if you don't need it lol. Nice job! I'm looking forward to hearing more stories from your run
  12. Some more screenshots from playing a multiplayer mod. Also a trip back to the pre-release build with giant jeans
  13. A few screenshots from a run I'm playing with a friend using the multiplayer mod.
  14. That's happened to me to, but inside of the broken barns (the type of buildings like Spence's Homestead). I was crouched while inside and was teleported to the upper loft area when I re-entered the save.
  15. -Mountaineer: Climb for a total of X amount of hours or X amount of distance. Climbing now consumes 20% less energy and you take 10% less damage when falling (or something along those lines). -Cartographer: Fully map X amount of regions OR complete the faithful cartographer achievement to unlock. You can map ~20% more area at once when mapping. -Quick Learner (terrible name lol): Complete the Skilled Survivor achievement. You gain ~5-10% more experience in all skills. A couple ideas that would be cool. If these feats were added I would definitely use them. I could see DLCs coming with new feats.
  16. Yeah! I just have to open the save and invite him again, and we will both start at the last places we saved at. We both keep our stuff, too. We haven't gotten to play again but hopefully we can sometime
  17. Nope, not your device's fault. Privacy settings on the Google apps default to private, so the OP probably just needs to make the slide public
  18. Your permissions on the slide are set so that we can't see it (which is the default setting). You'll have to go to share and unlock the slide in Google Slides if you want to let us see it (make sure we don't have permission to edit it though).
  19. He must have been a mountaineer in his early life because in the last encounter with him in episode 1, how on earth did he get down there lol. The rope was not deployed yet. I simply think he's an old citizen of Great Bear who knows a lot about the environment and what's happening, and he's always watching you. I'm definitely interested to see if we see him in Episode 5. I was fully expecting him in Episode 4 but was surprised to see he was not there.
  20. I agree with the others; time shouldn't stop for inventory management or viewing the map, but an option to look at statistics while paused would be helpful. There could be an option to View Statistics in the pause menu.
  21. 97. Getting crushed by a dead bear (getting mauled by a bleeding bear and having it die while still mauling you) (I don't think this has been said yet)
  22. So, I found somebody to play a multiplayer mod with me on The Long Dark. We started with an intense Interloper run that almost flopped on day 1, and I wanted to share it here. If we survive and continue to play it, I might come back and add to this discussion. We started in Ash Canyon on an area overlooking the pond where Angler's Den sits. It was morning, extremely cold, and just to the right was a group of three wolves that could notice us at any moment. My friend hadn't connected yet, so I avoided the wolves and made a run for Angler's Den. By the time I got to the door, my friend had connected and started following me, but things didn't go so well for him. I enter the cabin and start picking up the few supplies I could find; a box of matches, a couple books, fleece mittens, tinder, a couple arrow heads, and a little food. As I was doing so, my friend walks in, injured and bleeding from a wolf attack. I quickly craft some bandages from a piece of cloth I found on the floor and gave it to him. We exchanged supplies and rested for about an hour when a blizzard struck, keeping us inside. The storm lasted for several hours, but fortunately there was still plenty of time left in the day to travel. The only problem was that we burned through all of the food we found from being stuck inside. While we waited out the storm, I started a fire to boil some water and take some torches. Finally, the storm ended and we left Angler's Den. First, we headed for the gold mine. We went up the hill to the water fall so that we could take the cave up to near Miner's Folly. We came to the fire barrel on the hill and grabbed the few items that was sitting there. While we were distracted, a wolf appears from behind the hill and immediately charges. I quickly grab a torch and light a match, but before the torch is lit, the wolf attacks me. I manage to scare him off with around 20-30% left, but I'm bleeding. I use my last bandage and realize that both me and my friend have a infection risk, low health, and empty warmth meters. It was time to get moving and hopefully find lichen on the way. We get to the path behind the waterfall and come to the climbing area, but there's one problem; my friend has a sprained wrist from the wolf attack and cannot climb up. We were really in a pickle now. I start a fire there to stop any condition loss from cold while we figure out what to do. We could return to Angler's Den and sleep until his wrist is recovered, but we would be out of food, which would prevent condition recovery. Since my friend was very low on condition, I told him to stay by the fire and craft some bandages with the gloves I found. I take a couple torches and climb up the roots, hoping to find lichen up ahead. It wasn't long before I came face-to-face with a pack of wolves at Long Falls. I ran through the area, holding the wolves at bay with my torch. I found 6 lichen and hurried back to the fire. However, all the wolves were on my tail and my last torch was running out. I was freezing, and my condition was under 10%. With the torch under 5%, I tossed it at the wolves and began sprinting. I began hurling stones at the beasts as they closed in on me. I could see the climbing "walls" up ahead. I had no more stones left and my stamina was depleted. I could hear the wolf charge from behind me, but I didn't look back; just before being grabbed, I jumped down the edge of the climbing area and reached safety. I was at about 5% condition. I crafted wound dressings for me and my friend, boiled some water, and grabbed more torches. My friend used the gloves to craft bandages and heal the sprained wrist. Still only about 6-7% condition, we climbed up and pressed on. The wolves were still there but kept their distance from the torches. We finally made it to the cave. We grabbed coal and other supplies we found in there before leaving and heading to Miner's Folly. The gold mine was too much of a trek at 6% condition. We had to get to Miner's Folly fast before hypothermia risk appeared. Once it did, we'd only have a couple minutes before death. There was one more obstacle to get around; the bear. We got to his cave to see him just now leaving. If the bear took too long to leave, I'd have to burn another match and start a fire to warm up. However, I didn't have to. The bear went to the left of the giant rock outside of his cave, giving us an opportunity to run past on the right side of the rock. We booked it through and made it without being detected. We got inside smaller cabin just before hypothermia risk appeared. After looting the cabin and sleeping, it was night. Just before I had to leave, we walked over to Foreman's Retreat. The bear had returned to his cave, so he was no threat to us. It was a little frightening though, as it was pitch black and heavy snowfall outside. We made it safely and then rested. Hopefully we both make it to the gold mine in one piece.
  23. I'm making a Lego stop motion film inspired by The Long Dark. Here's a short clip of it. (there's no sound but I'm working on adding that) 1357715241_LostintheSnowClipFinished.mp4
