  1. This problem should be fixed as of tonight's update: [AI] Fixed an issue that could cause Wildlife to slide under certain terrain, such as ice and steep hills.
  2. Anything above 35 kg without bonuses is too much to me cause that's when stalking wolves tend to catch up and things go bad.
  3. Thanks for sharing and way to go with fire conservation there. Learnt a couple of match spawns and how to keep a burning torch when climbing. 👍
  4. My favorite so far is freezing to death by that waterfall just a stone's throw from mama grey's home in Milton. This was a long run, had looted most regions, got bored and goated down this waterfall just northwest of Mountain Town because… well because I could. Goating worked, just a few scratches, but once I had descended a giant 1 cm (0.03 feet) insurmountable stone threshold between the waterfall and it's river locked the poor survivor away for good. If you have a closer look you can still find him standing there frozen, staring down at the almighty stone threshold.
  5. You're missing my point. With somewhat regular seasons you'll get approx 90 days a year without snow. That means no blizzards, no deep cold and no challenge for a seasoned survivor unless Hinterland change the game considerably. The downslide of temperature has already stopped so I don't understand what's to cure there. Apart from that, we all know auroras and blizzards occur outside the game.
  6. Valid point, but I don't think we'll get to cure great bear for a number of reasons. This is season 1, if we cure it, will there be a completely different game in season 2? One without blizzards, auroras, frenzied wolves and -68 C temps? I Believe we get our dark ending, my experience is that bright endings to dark games ruin the game for quite a few players. But there's a balance of course, consider the ending of Last of us, spoiler, you save something but not the human race.
  7. Thanks for sharing that, I'll keep in mind to bring twice as much food when I go down there. Haven't done it yet cause CH is usually endgame for me and I don't want to lose my survivor in - as you say - the "dungeon" down there.
  8. I beg to differ sir, this photo was taken at the castle of camaaaaaarrrrgeehhhhh.
  9. In this and only this game, I'd love a TLD-like unforgiving ending. Like Astrid and Mac find each other and continue on their journey together to reach Perseverance mills. But when they're so close to reach it they get wiped out by a relentless blizzard, screen goes black except for "you faded into the long dark".
  10. Yeah I've done that too. But I'm thinking @wendelllm has got the cabin flu.
  11. Completely agree, with Hinterland's effort to add details and finesse these last years perhaps this type of mechanic is on a drawing board somewhere. I suppose it would make the game easier, do you have any ideas how that could be counterweighted, perhaps less firewood, branches and sticks generally?
  12. I'm not a great mathematician but now that you mention it, breaking down 1 piece of wood into 1 piece of wood don't seem so fair.
  13. Do you have coffee? As @ajb1978 wrote somewhere you can be exhausted for 1 hour before your hp start to drain and drinking 1/4 cup will restart the timer.
  14. That's solid advice, you pick the terrain if you got the opportunity, not the wolf. In case you're loping one single arrow might be all the chance you get and you don't want elevation messing up your headshot chances for you.
  15. Seem to be rather frequent too. I barely shoot arrows at wolves anymore unless I'm somewhat sure I can make the headshot. Haven't found a single carcass from a wounded wolf since the update (edit: wrong, now I recall finding 1), sure makes arrow conservation pretty damn hard these days!
  16. @MarrowStone that's some pretty cool stuff, I suppose his hands remain untrembling because they're out of focus..
  17. I too would like to know what he does different in the 1st angle to make the strings wave like that. Two different tunings would be a solid guess but 1st take don't sound pegged down to make the strings looser so that's probably not the case. A wild guess is that he played the 1st part at a faster speed and slowmoed it. Perhaps there's a virtuoso guitarist among us who can explain, or it will remain a "Cannery shortcut".
  18. Agree, it would be cool with more variation to the campfire mechanic and how fast a fire dies away. It's a really good example of TLD's (sometimes) seamless transitions, campfires reduced to 9min burn time with a sudden gust of wind If wind put out a real fire you would be able to restart it a little later with the same amount of firewood and it would have fit well in the game. I suppose it can be puzzling for developers to decide when to apply and not apply real-life logic in a game, but firewood that vanish into thin air with a gust don't seem all that measured.
  19. This might be a little far-fetched but perhaps once you loot the very last can in all of great bear you find a crafting recipe. The timberwolf wingsuit. You collect the 5 furs and 14 guts, craft for 168 hours and go straight to the radio tower, wait til the wind blows towards the cannery, stretch out your arms and make the jump . Oh wait, we can't jump.
  20. Wolf pelt farming these days: pull the wolf to a fishing cabin, move around til he puts his nose through the wall, take your free headshot and voila there's your coat.
  21. Broke down the maintenance shed yesterday and the loot was quite good. 2 items in the mentioned crate up the ramp (stim & sewing kit) and another 3 in the other crates, seems like pretty good ratio to me. Plus you can use all the reclaimed wood to make the foundation for a forging session even with just 4-5 coals in the building (or in the map rather…).
  22. Made we reconsider how to prioritize in HRV. I usually loot all along the west side of HRV because of it's abundance of cattails and tea ingredients. Looking back this might have been a mistake as I mostly end up wasting a flare in that hilly, hostile part of the map. That, I suppose, is the same as wasting 30kgs of bearmeat later on. Ice cave on the other hand seem like a must as you say, and if absolutely necessary is worth wasting a flare on the Fluff. Still, the shelf on west side is always worth a visit in my opinion. The possible mackinaw, possible moose, possible wolf carcass - useful in early game -, a decent amount of cattails and tea ingredients and only one hostile wolf. Don't usually spend any time whatsoever in the eastern part but I'm likely affected by the time I couldn't climb up from the valley by moose overlook after getting a veteran survivor butted by a moose, having looted and drunk all rose hip teas before and being 2 pain pills short of curing. Any other musts in HRV?
