  1. If I remember it correctly, the insulin was only part of the run. You need to get informations about survivors, which calms down those in the center. Plus you get a lot of food. And you get one survivor on top of it. The insuline is just cherry on the cake. Look to the crash site perfectly fits to the Astrid character. And as mentioned. They dont know how bad the situation is. Whether help is or is not on the way. And it would be really out of character to let the guy die without trying to help or just kill him.
  2. I had played the Episode 1 and 2 the time I purchased the game. It was about 2018. I started playing the story mode as tutorial. I remember the Big Old Bear from the run. The mission was to retrieve gun or its parts from Broken Railroad if I remember it well. Then start in Trappers, walks somewhere being shadowed by the bear and shoot it time to time. I found the old mission little bit annoying. Limited ammo, not clear point when to shoot (not too early, not to late). And at the end just getting to the carcass and get his ears? Now I decided to reply all missions. And this time I enjoyed it from start to end. Now I was able to fight back. And the great escape. Just want to thank devs for rewriting this mission.
  3. When you have no matches and firestriker, you can can use flare as last resort. But you should be fine even with magnifying lense. Sunny days will be renamed to cooking days. And without fire... You need to have some shelter nearby. Days without sun will be for gathering fuel. For tools. You can make a improvised knife and hatched as well. There is an achievment when you do it in Rikken. Dont forget there is a saw as well. You need a toolbox (the red one is better ) to repair it and scrap metal to repair the toobox. Now with Bleak Inlet the aurora can help you to repair your tools as well. Of course you need scrap metal.
  4. For 1000 fires is the magnifying lense necessary. I am grinding it as well on my current run. I already dont need a tinder plug for starting fire, so fire start cost me only one stick. Every time there is a sunny day I take a 10-20 sticks and find sheltered place. Then I start 4 fireplaces. More is not needed. I place them in shape of C letter in order to be able to reach all of them without moving. Do not surround yourself fully. It can happen you may need vacate the place quickly because of some toothy neighbor. By the time I start the fourth the first one is already burned out so I can use the first one. I do it 10-20 times as sticks suffices. It is of course possible to do it more times, but I find it tedious and usually wants to do other things per such day as well.
  5. @ManicManiac I dont argue with you. I always thought that I am smash opening can when I have no opener. I just wonder whether can opening by knife dulls the knife.
  6. @ManicManiac Wait a second. You want to tell me my character is the kind of person who dulls a knife on a can? I always thought it takes a rock and pushes the can lid down. If he uses knife, there is no reason for spillage. Even if character uses for example screwdriver from tools, there is no reason for spilling. This is quite new info for me. I shall test it when I am on Great Bear.
  7. That is not always true. I got it on my run. But have seen the Accurize video on YT, where the rope was not hanging on hook. I think it depends on difficulty level. My was voyageur.
  8. Yup it is windy as hell, but beautiful. And those white-gray rascals who wants to tackle you are adorable. But prepared survivor can gain a lot from this region. I am writing it as mainly voyageur player. Not sure how to cope with the dangers without revolver or rifle.
  9. This goes against my observations. When I open the can using can opener I get can which is about 85% quality. When I smash open a can, the quality is about 75%, but I still get it in my pack. But I play on Voyageur mainly.
  10. There are maps like Coastal Highway or Desolation Point where is sea shore. The shore is on Bleak Inlet as well. But I am not sure if the beachcombing is possible here. The beachoming is simply watching the shore time to time (no point of sitting on the shore). And sometimes there is an item washed out from the sea on the shore. But be aware. It can be on thin ice so you have to sprint there, take it and sprint back. Some do it naked in order to prevent clothing to be soaked. You can check https://thelongdark.fandom.com/wiki/Beachcombing to learn what could be found. Not sure if the list is complete or it is list of items which were found by people. And be carefull. Permadeath is lurking there.
  11. Not sure about the satchel location in other dificulties. But I have found in Misty Falls in Pleasant Valey on voyageur. You know in the cave, there is hidden spot. Spoiler: Get naked.
  12. Wow. Thanx for the ticket. And thanx Hinterlands devs for fixing it.
  13. This somehow slipped my attention. I was in Coastal Highway at the time wondering what is the shootout in the Ravine direction.
  14. @Aurimas I executed quick test on my Voyageur run. My character is level 5 cook got 2x 1kg venison, both of them 0% got a firebarrel in Quonset Gas Station. Put cooking pot on one slot and one slot was empty. I fired a firebarrel and put enough sticks to maintain 1h fire. (you owe me one match but not really, my character is going to eat those 2kg of meat) I placed 1kg of venison on the spot without pot Then I immediately put the 1kg of venison into the pot. The delay could be about 5-10 seconds. So the pot venison started about 1-2 minutes later ingame time. The pot venison was finished and the venison without pot had to be cooked still for 7 minutes.
  15. If it is same amount of the meat, it is not OK. Pot should shorten cooking time.
  16. Yes normally. But I recall there was a note on the water tower in the Mountain Town, that the water has been infected in the water pipes. It is possible it was in the story mode. But I dont distinguish these two modes much. If it was in the story mode, it is like it was in the sandbox for me.
  17. I would like to add some to fire mechanic. I am pretty fine with the fact you can start fire with a log. If I had a 1kg fir log and wanted start a fire, I would take a knife or hatchet and make splinters, small pieces, large pieces (no you can't do it with hacksaw). Now it would be possible to start a fire. I think, it is hidden in the game mechanics. If I have no hatchet or knife, it should not be possible to use single log for starting a fire. Furthermore for fire starting, I would find your way very tedious and not fitting the game. But we could have some little minigame for the fire making. Something like you have X Y axes and you have to keep a ball/cursor in the middle by WASD keys or maybe even mouse. And size of the area and time needed would depend on your skill, tinder, wind etc. For the lightning mechanics... I found the contrast or dynamics sometimes as well "too much" For examle Coastal Highway -> Waterfront Cottage or the cabin on Jackrabbit Island. Every time I enter, there is big beam of the light comming from the window. It makes everything else too dark to see. Candles: Yes for me. Otherwise I am pretty comfy with the game.
  18. The re-freezing water is tricky thing in my opinion. If you introduce freezing water, the container could be damaged or even destroyed by freezing. Plus the water would freeze in almost all inside locations. I do like the fact the water does not freeze in the game. And I am searching for empty bottles since I would like to use them to create coat or something from them. The thermo insulation capabilities of ingame plastic bottles must be great when it prevents water from freezing even in -30°C. But I can agree with "potable" water from toilets. I think there was a poster or note in the town, the water pipes has been infected by something thus the water is not safe. Suddenly player comes to the town and he can drink from toilet reservoirs? The field flask containing tea is good idea. If it is hot, it could provide temporary temperature bonus.
  19. The crucial you need are two ropes. One to get to bottom of Ravine, one to get down from upper plateu. Of course you may be good with one if you accept longer way to get the code. or you can find a goat way.
  20. I think there is no help comming from outside as well. But Will is alive and the mysterious briefcase is not in their possesion. They have to reunite, find the briefcase and deploy whatever is in it to the world. And I suspect their action will help the world, but not to them. The winter in their location will be harsh and long.
  21. I think you are right. Sharing would tempt many survivors to try it. Manymany deaths would be there. For example I was able to screw even rope climb from the Ravine basin and it costed me a life of my character.
  22. Wait a second. There is goat way UP? Recently I promoted myself to goat when I got down from the tail section without ropes. OK I am going to demote myself again to human.
  23. Wow the anomally had to be strong in your game when it affected bear to get teleportation ability. Never seen anything like this. I had a wolf falling from the sky, bear voice from dead bear and some other but nothing like this.
  24. Wait a second. I Had seen this rule last time in the Doom game. And I think the first one.
  25. Found and ate 0% granola bar and drank 0% soda. Again no food poisoning. But I think soda never gives you poisoning. Sardines slowly degrading outside now. Is there any achievement for making trash can from your stomach? FOR SCIENCE 42!
