  1. I think I will call the Ash Canyon: Misty Mountain. There is mine, there is mist every day, wolves. The Misty Mountain name suits it well.
  2. I am now walking though the Ash Canyon. Passed few rope bridges. It was not so terryfying because every time I passed the bridge, there was fog, so I could not see down. My question is. These bridges are swaying. Is it possible it could sway away so my character would fall? Like the character would stay on edge of the bridge and it would sway away. I was counter moving and did not stay long time on it. Just curious.
  3. OK its time to pack up my gear and move from Coastal Highway. I hope the way from TWM can be found.
  4. Maybe the forest was not burnt by common fire. Maybe the event which burned all the electric wires was had epicentre near by.
  5. I think the Darkwalker fits in the common game. As the character is long time alone, the head can just create things, terrible things. So the game could be spiced up with real cabin fever aka Darkwalker. Of course it would not chase you indefinitelly. Just out of the house till you sleep of the cabin fever outside. His slow movement and the way how it moves only in real time makes escape not hard. Cabin fever probability would be probability of Darkwalker emerging. He should be emerging only if the probability is > 0 and character sleeps indoor. The scenario would be like: Character has cabin fever risk. Goes to sleep indoor. Then it is awaken by anxiety. He has to vacate the building and search for outdoor sleeping. It has to be in some distance in order to gain on the darkwalker. Then sleep of the cabin fever. I am not sure if the fear should decrease health and if darkwalker should be able to kill player. Maybe not. Maybe just his presence could cause inability to sleep. And the fog could be present, but again not lethal.
  6. Although I am not fan of beeing jumpscared and horror movies, I enjoyed this event. It is intense, but not jumpscaring. I found the yell when Astrid sprained her ankle more jumpscaring than appearance of this green stomper. Plus I think it really fits in the game. You know, the character is long time alone. I liked when the bear could be heard on spot you down him for long time. Can we get it as challenge? Or maybe... the cabin fever irritates people. What about replace it with this for one night? You know, you could go to sleep even when caobin fever kicks in, but in the night you would be awaken by anxiety, maybe fear and you would have to run to escape it. So the cabin fever could really kill your character. But in this case crafting inside should be not counted into the cabin fever time.

  9. I would try brute force. Try to search for TheLongDark on whole drive C or on whole computer. It has to show up. Or you can search for sandbox<NR> to locate save file. I think those strings are pretty unusuall so you will have very few false positives. But personally I have no experience with Windows 10 store. Maybe it is stored somewhere else like in the cloud.
  10. It is for triangulation. There is secret science base on Perseverance Mills. This three tower installation is for exact triangulation of the spot where the aurora begins. Unfrtunatelly the aurora during the big collaps event was so strong, all those towers are now fried. Or the reason is when the planner marked a location for the one radio tower which should be here, he was drinking Moose Kick and dropped some drops on the map. Builders misinterpreted them as two additional towers. And when these were built... ech who would bother to tear them down.
  11. One day Astrid did not clean floor in her cabin. She left some empty cartridges, cleaning kit and some metal scraps. She went to some errands. And look what she found. Sprout of new gun. She watered it for another two weeks by fish oil and now she has pretty new ExcaliGun. She moved it outside. Maybe it will grow more. Maybe she can get a Howitreetzer. P.S. Astrid expected something strange can happen in the cabin. The cup is levitating there for more than two months.
  12. It seems like gain took downwards trend after two additional weeks. Astrid still gets some rabbits, but maybe she will need to take out this ExcaliGun.

  14. Oh my. I used <spoiler></spoiler> html like coding. Not like . Sooo it should be something like chaining of ocean sound. Sounds plausible. But still. I think, there is an ghost in the code. And it is spirit of the great bear who had been slain on the the Great Bear island by Will. You know. The game is about beeing marooned on the island. So after while you can became little crazy. So you can hear bear growl on the place where you shot him. You can hear plane, because you wish to be rescued. Even it might be bug. I like it.

  17. This may be contain spoiler. And it is spoiler for Sandbox game.I am playing my current Voyager run. Now on 290 day. Recenty I started rabbits test. So I am located at Jackrabbits Island from day 259. I remember one day around day 260-265 I heard strange noise right in front of the cabin. It sounded like airplane or something. I thought, it might be a glitch or I should stop playing the game. But doubt was itching. So I start a search and found I am not the only one who heard it. About 2 years ago: link to steamcomunity So brace yourselves, the help is maybe coming. Or not, rest of the world might write off the Great Bear island.
  18. Here is report after 31 days. Remind you, it is Voyager difficulty and only 6 traps. The test will continue, this is just apetizer. Around day 25 it seemed like the test is ending. But it is ressurected. Still it seems like linear regression of number snared rabbits has some downwards tendency. Summary of one month snaring is 103 rabbits caught, 116 kilos of meat gathered, 15 snares destroyed. Since rabbitses gave me enough guts, I can count only 6 recycled wood as investment. Energy-wise it is not good. I have gained 65 139 kcal from the meat. But my average consumption is 3 000 per day, which means loss of 27 860 kcal. It is survivible, but my goal is not let Astrid starve. Not even little bit. Here are some graphs. The first one is simple number of snared rabbits. Orange line is linear regression. It seemed like most accurate. Second one is energy. Blue is total gathered from the rabbit meat, orange is balance whether Astrid is above zero. So if you dont want to starve, build more snares.
  19. I dont know. I tried to fire a rifle at timberwolves while I was not spotted. It resulted in immediate attack. So if you want to make a run for the tower, I would not aggro them immediatelly. Maybe stealth aproach will be better and fire as last option. Plus the flare gun ammo is pretty precious to waste it on timberwolves.
  20. Day 25. Last three days my Astrid gathered only about 2-3 kilos of rabbit per day while 3 snares were destroyed. The curve of the harvest took downward direction. But she is patient. It can be just temporary. Lucky her, she know how to fish. If it would not be so, she would be hungry. Her archery is awful. (I mean my archery, it take 3-5 shots at deer to hit him. Wolfs are bunch of elusive bastards.)
  21. Day 18. Still no end. The rabbitses are still beeing caught into snares. It seems like wolfs are breeding at the same rate as rabbits. I have checked the energy balance. My Astrid burns cca ~3000 kcal per day. 1 kilo of cooked rabbit meat is 563 kcal. The energy balance of these 18 days is ~ 40 000 kcal gained and 54 000 kcal burnt which results in 14 000 kcal loss. 6 snares is not definitely not enough for full life without starving.
  22. I can do such graph. I am waiting to some conclusion of the test. 13 days seems to be not the end. I will close it either when the earning drops to 0 for several days or when it will seem, the value is not going to converge to 0. There is only one thing I can read from my data now. 6 traps are not enough to fully feed survivor on voyager difficulty. I think it is enough for surviving, but survivor would be starving time to time.

Day 12: 2 rabbits, 0 snares ruined , weight 3,1 kg Day 13: 4 rabbits, 1 snares ruined , weight 4,1 kg Day 14: 2 rabbits, 1 snares ruined , weight 2,2 kg I have decided to put overall meat weight in the result, it is better value. I aproximated the total gain of meat from day 1-11 is about 42-45 kg. If you check some of my poor days, 2 kilos is 1156 ccal with Astrid's cooking. I dont know if it would suffice through the night, but she would be starving over day. Plus there are 0 days. Lucky she needs to train archery. This run she did not waited for those grey mobsters and she payed visit to their territory. Who's the boss now huh?

    Paint Can v2

    The only goal I have with spray paint is to paint sleeping bear. I do agree, there is dark inside. Sometime even during day. But when you check those small windows, you can see why. If you imagine the luminescent paint would glow like the one in music club... These are activated by continuous UV light.
  25. If houses would be placed into maps, the object in the map would have to be much larger. For example the main office in the Mystery lake. It seems like small cabin from outside, but inside... it is like tent from Harry Potter. For the original suggestion. It seems like peek from the window would have to be same like stepping from the door. All the calculation would have to be done. And it even should not save one from attack nor freezing.
