  1. I've decided to try a different twist on a challenge. The idea is to limit consumption & usage to "craftable/natural" items. This means: Using only crafted tools (exceptions below) Wearing only crafted clothes Eating only natural foods (granola bars don't count!). This means: fish and meat. Of course, Reishi, etc. is needed. Fuel is limited to cedar, fir, sticks & coal Reclaimed wood may be used to make snares Some exceptions would be: Rifle (optional) - just until you kill enough bears/wolves to craft a coat, then toss it! Hacksaw (needed for breaking down metal) Heavy Hammer (needed for crafting tools, etc.) Cooking Pots (for water) Prybar (no alternative) Bedroll (until you can make a bearskin, then toss 'em!) All fire-starters since we don't have flint & Steel in game (Fire Addon Mod a viable alternative) Lamp Oil - preferrably obtained from fish Whetstone - similar to sharpening rocks we could use in the wild Other Custom settings will be moderate (IMO). Make the settings harder if you want. Here is my custom code: +3S0-V4Ww-KFCC-2Kt5-xEIJ. Keep in mind, that code does not allow for firearms. After doing a preliminary playthrough, I turned rifles back on for the first exception above. I'm proposing a "grace period" to give us the opportunity to gather some essential materials for our challenge. I'm going to start off with 10 days and see how that turns out. If you don't make it by day 10, just keep going and see how soon you can become "Natural"! Feel free to post your progress, challenges and stories! Journal: By the end of day 10, I had just visited Spence's forge to make some necessary tools (arrow-heads, knife and hatchet). I then had to strip off all my clothes and beeline to the Camp Office so I could begin making clothes. By day 18 I had: Rabbitskin gloves, wolfskin coat, deerskin pants & boots. Day 20: Bearskin bedroll so stored all others. 23 days: Rabbitskin hat and 2nd wolfskin coat. Running low on meat - time to go hunting. I'm well on my way now. I'm going to see how things go with no socks, shirts, or underwear. I'll keep you posted.
  2. When it comes to personal hygiene in TLD, we have options: Strip and fall through ice into ice cold water Find an indoor waterfall (Picnic comes to mind) But when it comes to comfort, my personal favorite has to be the following: 1. Get some soap 2. Prepare your bathing area. Plenty of cloth for drying off, toilet-set covers (necessary??), Moose-skin area rug (hate those cold floors!), knife for shaving, charcoal for brushing teeth, antiseptic for post shave. Washcloth, rope (improvised back-brush), can (for dipping water and rinsing off soap), a hot cup of Joe and a snack. 3. Prepare your hot water: 4. Haul water upstairs, fill bathtub to preferred temperature, sit back and enjoy!!
  3. I must admit, in 1500+ hours of playing, this has to have been (by far) the shortest safe code yet: 6, 3, 10 Yours?
  4. Will & Astrid reconciling and retiring to Arizona.
  5. 9. Impatience, which results in many ways of dying
  6. Goat down a nearly vertical, smooth cliff-face while crouched Break down wood pallets, crates, etc. without bloodying my fists/hands Drink boiling hot liquids Pick up pots that have been on a hot stove/fireplace for hours All I can think of off-hand
  7. Realistically, not unheard of to have storms that long. We just watched a program on the Donner Party last night. They noted snow-storms lasting 6-8 days in some cases.
  8. To answer your question: I don't know! We can assume so, but many of the custom settings are "shrouded in mystery" and unless we can peer into the code or have HL tell us, we just make educated guesses.
  9. Wasn't really implying anything, just making an observation...
  10. Quite the conversation between you two there! I've always been somewhat of a prepper. I guess that's one of the things I love about TLD.
  11. YESSSSS!!! Guess I'll be putting in my Vacation request to work for the 6th (assuming it's not midnight ON the 6th). @Admin, can you confirm time and time zone?
  12. Mine has to be PV, the birch forest around Lonely Homestead. You'd think you would find an abundance of birch bark and saplings here! What is yours?
  13. Grats! That can be a long one.
  14. Thank you very much for the update. REALLY looking forward to any new content! I guess Pathfinder: WotR will be paused!
  15. Don't hold your breath waiting for an answer
  16. Including all the "swamp land"? That was probably the last area I FULLY explored on my longest run. Cut down every single scrub-brush
