  1. I agree on the long duration fire, this would be great to have. What I dont agree though is that fire without tinder is useless. When i need tinder to light fire, i always collect all tinder I find beacause I dont wanna run out of em that would be stupid. When I reach level 3 firemaking i can drop all those tinder and it leaves 2 or 3 kg in my pack and it makes a huge difference for me beacause i usually travel with between 20 and 25 kg in my pack maximum plus the 10kg bunus from well fed and the moose hide sachel. so I can go quickly as hell . it is not a big of a deal but i think it is a great touch. I too agree on smoothing the skills bonus progession, the bonuses helps you a LOT at level 5 but they do not help you that much at level 3 and 4. Another thing I dont like that much is that there is only 5 Level of skills. it is easy to be at day 100 and having completed the most important skills. If you survive 300 this means that you do not improve nothing during the 200 next days.
  2. basically it uses two features of the wolves. one they are afraid of fire (100% chance if you dont hold the torch) and two they run at you when you aim a them. You drop the lit torch on the ground and aim with the stone. this will make the wolf run at you and once they are enough close to the torch it scares em and they flee. it works all the time and makes absolutely no sense. i hope this will be fixed at least but even with this fix wolves would need some tweaks. personally wolves never get attracted by my decoys i dont know if it is a bug but they NEVER do and ive tried multiple times ...
  3. I don't really see how it is possible. it takes too much time to melt water and for the only purpose of being clean? nah in this situation it is not a necessity for the player. I thaught about being able to clean ourselves by voluntarily going through the ice but there is only 4 regions in wich we would be able to do so. I think some cleaning mechanics could be a nice touch but nothing like taking a bath is conceivable i think. Maybe every two or three weeks our character starts to have an affliction wich is dirtyness or something like that and you can solve that issue with a soap bar, 2L or water and a tissue ?

  5. Bic lighters for light source... instead of wasting a match everytime you want to see something you could just use your bic lighter. i like that !
  6. i think that regions COMPLETELY without buildings we dont have still enough but 2 or 3 might be. as long as they have different things to offer. HRV has the mysterious fire and the ice caves. maybe the next one could be next to the ocean or just immense forest with many many dangerous wildlife. mayeb a new type of dangerous predator that live in that region. One thing that would be absolutely great is an enermous cave. bigger than the ravine region (the cave would be a region itself) it is very hard to travel through and it offers a unique architecture and offer a new survival experience. if you run out of light, you die 100% chances that is as simple as that.

    @Lohaan if we refer to this map that the devs made before episode 1 and 2 release (i modified it a little) we can se that milton isnt really at the right place on your map. it should be a little bit more on the north of your map. but all of this isnt perfect, i dont think the maps were meant to be represented on a map 100% accurately. this is why i dont think it whould be somewhere precise on a map. but beacause you asked, i think that ash canyon could be between timberwolf mountain and mountain town, or could be between broken railroad and hushed river valley. it would make sense near hushed river valley because the color of the rocks that we can see in the artwork most resembles the ones in hushed river valley BUT it could just be a bait. if AC is near HRV and BR this would mean that the rock color is specific from this region of the map but beacause we only have HRV now we cannot say so it could aslo be between TWM and MT. The thing that i am shure is that this region will connect two far regions that have few access for now. For perseverance mills the thing is more complicated on your map but so i will explain with the official one. in episode one we can encounter a prisoner bus that crashed in the mountain. according to the map it was heading to pleasant valley. and in episode 3 it confirms the theory beacause we can find dead body of prisoners during the story. On the map there is a road that is going from mountain town to pleasant valley and a coastal road wich ends in a coastal region wich i think will be blackrock penitenciary. now it would make sense to put perseverence mills between pleasant valley and that coastal road if we think about the prisoners buses. beacause perseverance mills is a town it would make sense for it to be linked by road to PV, MT for food and to DP, CH for imported supplies and to blackrock for the prisoners. Ash canyon Should be at the left of Timberwolf but it looks like theres missing a LOT of space between blackrock and Timberwolf The Bottom left map (ML, FM, BR, MT, HRV) should be squeezed to the top left corner and (PV, TWM) should be squeezed to the right hand corner for the map to be more acurate and fit the devs map.
  8. it does not really matter. the long dark is not 100% acurate to reality. when you boil water you always pop up from heaven some plastic bottles and when you make ammo you just put gunpower un the shell and put the bullet in top of it and you have an bullet. when you put a bandage on you your wound magically heals. i dont see being able to light charcoal as a problem
  9. coal too is a fuel and taking with me coal everytime i want to light a fire is just useless. a charcoal yes. it will become a resource and will be consumes once you lit your fire

    With the Annoucement of ASH CANYON, it made me look at the worldmap. and i just realised that there was a problem in it. we dont see desolation point and broken railroad in it. I dont see that as a big problem but it may be nice if if could be updated. i know there will be some UI improvements in the december update and a new region so maybe it is already planned. my suggestion is to make a map in wich we can move like google maps so every maps can fit in the space.

I Agree on that. there is so many injuries that i feel like it would need more medicine or more time to take care of. when you get bit my a wolf you dont just apply a bandage a bit of antiseptic and pawaaw everything is fine. maybe a medical sewing kit and mechanic could be implemented? you have to sew yourself depending on the gravity of the injury and after that applying antiseptic and then bandage. it would be nice too to have recovery time needed when bitten. like 12 hours or so. you can still walk run and live your life but as long as you didnt slept you do not gain health back. Also, we can apply antiseptic after the bandage wich i find not realistic at all.everything should be done in the correct order for you wound to have less recovery time needed.

There is also magnifying glass that you can find pretty often (more often than the firestriker) everything in the game is affected by a loot table so it is never random there is almost always one of everything in every maps (of course it depends on the difficulty) but for stalker and lower i think that what is said is pretty accurate. ususally small items dont spawn right where you can see em, like on top of a table. when you loot a place, search in every corners, underneath all beds, behind every furniture etc. it takes some time but when you find bullets, firesteel, matches, socks etc you are happy. a lot of times, Outside, there are knives and hatchet stuck in wood fences or wood logs etc. Hinterland really like to hide the loot. i do think that another firestarting method is needed but i prefer the idea of making friction fire wich we disscussed in a recent post. it is harder and takes more material. beacause it would be an unlimited use item it would be better if it is hard to make fire with. i am not against flint rocks thought i think it would be a nice toutch to the game it would be nice to have a primitive firestarting method. i just prefer the friction method but flint is fine too

In the game there is a railway and some roads but they never connect. i always wanted a region in wich they connect and in wich there is an airport and a small harbour plus couple of markets etc. but that would stay small though. i always wondered where will thaught he was going to land in the story mode. maybe his plan was to crash on the island

Well welcome in the comunity .i like the idea in wich the fogs get thicker and thicker. this means that we can come back quickly i a region but at our own riks. i always liked the risk/reward balance in this game. or we could come back later after the fog is gone. it would be nice if we come back later after the fog has spread out, that the wildlife take more time to come back.
  18. I took the liberty to modify a little bit you map @GIflegolas i think this version would be more acurate beacause timbewolf wasnt at the right place at the time. The blackrock bus that was stuck inside the mountain in milton was heading towards pleasant valley. on the map we see that pleasant valley has a road that isnt finished so maybe it was meant to be going to perseverance mills? it would make sense to me beacause there is also a road to the right that goes to the region that i suspect to be the future blackrock region. so the transport bus was probably going on that road.*****SPOILERS OF EPISODE THREE**** now the only problem is that the abandoned mine that we used to travel trough in the end of episode 3 only goes to coastal highway BUT. when you head out of the mine, you see whales that are dead on the beach. now if we were in coastal highway, it would be different beacause we cannot see the beach directly from where the cave ends.
  19. it would be nice too to have some custom gamemode option: the fog. but instead of being 30mins in real life it is something like 15 days in game. the fog slowly appears during those 15 days so it can start from the 8th day or so and completely make the region inaccesible after the 15th day.
  20. i like that idea it would be more worth it to go there. i made a topic about imprivised weapons for interlopper. basically you would be able to find improvised revolver and flare gun in blackrock prison as a contreband item. once you finded one you get the craft recipie to make em in cannery. the revolver have like 4 slot in the mag and they get destroyed in like 10 shots for revolver and 3 or 4 for the flare. they are not acurate at all and they are defensive weapons only, they do not make animals bleed out. so im bringing the topic again beacause it may interest you and many others
  21. I thaught about something like that for the regular wolves: if you encounter a wolf it will growl at you and stop. Then you have more chances than usual for the wolf to flee and the wolf will no longer rush at you if you aim with something to him. but if he decide to attack you you will not be able to stop him with a torch (only) even if you shoot at him he will continue to attack you unless you kill him or you shot him a few seconds before the fight starts. if hes already running at you when shooting him it will provide you a benefit during the fight but he will still be attack you. that solve the torch+stone problem where you can make every wolf flee for the cost of one match and a stone. For Timberwolves: i think that the timberwolves would need to be less active. they are always running far and comming back to bite you. thats is just annoying. they should track you and sometimes stop and if you dont st I suggest to ajust the pack morale and make a random pack morale when encountering one so the challenge is not always the same. I would like to be able to yell. it will be useful when doing the fight with the alpha wolf if you dont have anything in your inventory to scare him. There could be another kind of fight too, if you loose the fight with the wolf. so the wolf runns at you and then you can choose a weapon. once you selected you have to click at the right time beacause it is not like an usual fight where the wolf stays on you. he just tries to byte you. so you will have to click at the right time and if you achieve so you will hurt the wolf and at the same time lowering the morale. i love this idea beacause it would make the encounter more interactive and interesting with multiple possibilities. thoughts?
  22. i think the whole fight and stalk system is for now broken and need to be tweaked. it is way to easy to escape a wolf encounter (bears a fine) so i hope Hinterland will fix that. if it will be fixed i think that vaulting over a fence would be okay to avoid a wolf encounter but if you only vault over a car hood the wolf shouldn't flee. it makes no sense beacause he can access you after you vaulted. i hope it will be fixed.
  23. This is the first idea that i read that i absolutely have no opinion on. It touches the core gameplay of thelongdark. If the devs add this thing, it will probably change the game forever...
