  1. Mountain Pass will be one of the next regions to be added in TFTFT. It is supposed to be the most mountainous region yet so i thaught it could be cool if there were some variants of the rose hips small climbs and rope climbs. To add a little bit of immersion and feel of that dangerous environement those ideas would require adding mountaineering equipement such as short ropes and maybe carabiners. The short rope could be cutted out of the rope that's already in the game or be looted and could weigh between 0.5 and 1kg to be able to carry around all the mountain.à Rose Hips variant: Rope throw ledge: it would be a climbable wall that dosent have rope yet on it and it would be small enough to be able to throw a short rope around a branch or rock a little higher and then climb out with it. Rope climbs variants: Behind a waterfall: They would be short but would require us to take off our clothes and warm up afterwards. Thether in ledge: A ledge that is too small to walk on it with our heavy packs and would have fixed lines on it similar to alpinism fixed lines or fixed anchor points such as on mount everest and other mountains. We would require the small rope to traverse those ledges that only has anchor points. Since it is probably going to be a very windy region with little shelter spots i had the idea to add a small canvas tent that provides no warmth bonus but would block the wind. Inside the tent we couldn't make a fire but we could warm up the atmosphere by using a lantern and it would provide a lasting and consequent warmth bonus. So we would have to prepare ahead enough fuel for our journey or we would most likely freeze to death. Thats it for now but more ideas are welcomed !

  3. The New Caches should be Nerfed, In interlopper I found 3 Stims at once in the cache, another one i found 3 MRE's Still in interlopper. (I don't want to spoil where they are) They are really nice additions though big thumbs up to the Hinterland team. They should just be nerfed in interlopper. 1 Stim already makes a big difference so Imagine 3!

Hi, do you play interlopper? if you do you know that a mid game clothing selection always looks the same: Double Ski Jacket, Double Jeans, Double Longjons, Double wool socks Double wool toque etc etc. It will always be the same beacause we don't find a variety of clothing option at that level. Of course its great to have only a few items available to us, but we should get more variety without impacting how often we can find a specific type of clothing. As an example, The ski jacket gives as much warmth than the simple parka. However ive never found one. The Thin wool sweater is the same warmth than the wool shirt. Never found one. Wool toque is the best toque, never found the balaclava, fleece cowl, long wool scarf wich are good but not better than the toque. You get the idea Hinterland, we want more variety without impacting gameplay. For quality of life only.

  6. I think its interesting to note that the last update was almost a year ago (december 2021) and the last dev diary was almost 5 months ago (16 may) Looking back i think that the name of the topic should have been more specific like: I would love to have a monthly dev diary !

  9. There isnt much to say. I feel like the game is dying slowly. We get close to no updates and the last dev blog was MOOONTHS ago. I would'nt care about waiting months for an update if we could have a monthly dev blog or simply news about the game. Im wondering what the community thinks about that, please share what you think !

A very Dangerous map deep in the woods with a lot of wildlife scattered all around. the map is as big as pleasant valley, easy to get lost, and the only two human made buildings are a small airport and a motel for hunters. I think we lack an airport in the game but usualy airports are in big towns and i think we have already a good amount of towns in tld so that may be a good alternative. Another idea: I love cave exploring but most of the time when we explore caves its not easy to get lost and they serve specific functions : getting from point A to B and collecting coal. What about map where the is a cave that is so large that its entrance is near the border of the map and the furthest exit is at the complete opposite of that map ? What about a cave that could only be explored by well prepared explorators, at the risk of their lives. That cave could have multiple levels, giant crevasses where you dont see the bottom, stalagmites, glow in the dark lichen and more. Lost and hungry predators would patroll the tunnels and you would have to fight them or find a way around. A bit like the ice caves but much bigger and more impressive. a real treat to the one who dares to explore it.

In real life winter situations walking is a good way to stay warm and I dont feel like it is exploited in the long dark, i feel like this game wants to be realistic and its unfortunate that it dosent use a similar mechanic to real life. For example walking could give you +1 warmth, running +2 and staying idle gives you no warmth (sorry deer carcass ) And this way in some situations it could really make a difference between life and death. On the opposite, if you run too much you could start sweating (it could only make your clothing wet faster) A good mechanic to learn to manage different things

Hi, i wanted to drop some ideas for more advanced tweakability in the custom sanbox, please add your ideas too - Starting inventory would be cool if we could choose what we start with exactly to make our playtroughs more challenging (or as anyone wishes) - Day / Night duration - Clothing freezing and drying speed This one in particular could make a lot of difference. I would like clothing to dry slower so that i would have to carry spare with me if i want to stay warm and toasty
  13. I Use the torch a lot and wouldnt care if an option would let me remove it, ive always agreed on anything that makes the game harder as long as it is an option, i love the fact that people can customise their gamplay a lot

  16. In real life, Batteries arent affected by EMP's if im not wrong. that means that even if computer, power plants etc dosent work in the long dark, in theory anything that work exclusively out of batteries should work.
  17. i agree to disagree, i would love to see that kind of thing. it makes a new objective in the game that the player can choose to follow or not, and it dosent destroy at all the lore or tld; having to walk long distances and working hard to get what you want, even if it is unecessairy, often at the cost of your life

  19. I understand that a lot of people dont use it but that might be a lot beacause it is a pain in the ass. and it wouldnt bother anybody to fix the problem. there is already a mod that lets you place everything where you want for decoration and base management. that should already be in vanilla
  20. I Would like it if the snowshelter was easyer to place. i understand that it is to force the player to wisely choose its camp location and make shure we cant place a SnowShelter everywhere but sometime we cant even place it when the ground is perfectly flat. Thanks

I dont think this is for the long dark, I remember rafael sharing thoughts about new games ideas + They dont plan on continuing updating the game for free after wintermute is completed, so they will probably continue on developping some dlc's for the long dark on the side and start developping a new game. i dont see how we could have a coop mode without breaking the game or modifying it completely.
  23. Not exactly we could have exactly like deers and wolves, ravaged carcases. If you leave the dead animal too long unsupervised it will become a ravaged carcass, you will still be able to collect the hide most of the guts but not the meat
