  1. Welcome! @RingoA In my humble opinion, expressing yourself artistically, no matter how badly you think you are doing it, already has a lot of merit in itself.
  2. Well, I don't want to imagine the odor trail it would leave with so much coffee, you know 🚽 💩💩💩💩💩 Although I may be scaring wildlife away with the smell 🤢
  3. I think that the treatment of liquids and in particular water in the game has many impediments at the programming level to obtain a realistic result according to the laws of physics. For example: - Our character is practically a plastic bottle factory, we are supposed to find containers to conserve and carry water and release it when we don't want to carry it. - We can't pour kerosene from a small drum to a big one. - We have an empty can, we are next to a waterfall that if we get close we get wet, but in the can we can not collect the water. In short, the gameplay is sometimes at odds with reality.
  4. I agree @Bumbleebee95, it would be very nice. Hopefully it will be added someday. I found the soundtrack of the first episode on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/690180/Music_for_The_Long_Dark__Volume_One/
  5. It is true that the site is not very welcoming, if I remember correctly wolves prowl nearby in the river. One idea is that it would have been triggered by a snow avalanche or the valley fire itself wiped it out and only the barrel was left standing.
  6. Well yes I had the same problem after shooting a doe by the river at Carter Dam, she ran away towards the dam on the left side of the bridge and the tracks disappeared along with the blood trail after crossing the railroad tracks. This happened with the update and two days ago.
  7. How nice! Did you get the charcoal at your last campfire? 😄
  8. Welcome to the forum @fobos282 and good ideas you bring, surely many have already been described in posts, I even remember a MOD for the compass.
  9. One of the most useful things I would like to have is an inventory of what I find on each map of the island making notes with the charcoal pencil and leaving notes on map or carry them. For example, if I visit a house in Coastal Highway I inspect all the places and drawers of the rooms, in the same way that I make with charcoal outdoors a drawn map of the area to reveal the dark area of the map, the idea is that using a similar mechanics with charcoal (perhaps they could add pencils or pens that could be found in offices) to write down on a paper everything I have left in the house when I leave, that paper I could leave it on a table, hang it on the front door of the house or take it with me as inventory notes in the same way that the current diary automatically collects the locations visited in each diary entry. (To leave that note on the front door so you don't have to enter the house and avoid the transition loading screen) I don't know if I've expressed myself well, the point is that it gives the character the possibility to write in the same way that he draws a map, but that it automatically picks up the things I have left in the room. Obviously if after a few days I return to that house and I take some things with me, the note will no longer reflect exactly what is there, but in a similar way to when I draw with charcoal and it detects corpses that later will no longer be there when I return to the map. I am not sure how the inventory note writing could be initiated, perhaps it would only allow it in a room or small house, for example it could be activated in an indoor area such as a house or an open cave but it would only pick up inventory items close to the character and from those places that have been inspected.
  10. I think the mystery fire only appears in one location, but you have the option to reveal the uninspected locations in the menu options, so you will know which one is missing from the map. When I went back to the map days after I visited the mystery fire it was no longer lit.
  11. I agree with the rest that it is a particular decision based on many factors. From my modest personal experience I could recommend that in a fishing cabin with a bearskin sleeping bag and properly warm with quality clothing you only have to worry about the night part from dawn to noon, plus blizzards can give you a hard time if the fishing cabin does not have a door. I slept completely dry and warm at night and woke up with all my clothes frozen and hypothermic.
  12. Happy holidays to all! and happy winter solstice in all its religious or non-religious versions, the victorious sun (sol invictus already adored by the Romans) makes its way in the winter days to give us its light and warmth, not without a good cup of herbal tea or reishi mushrooms
  13. I can't be sure if it happened to me with the bedroll but in Ash Canyon I have had some strange experiences after the patch, invisible climbing ropes for example, in fact I have reported the bug as they recommended in Hinterland Support, I suggest you do the same. In HRV I was attacked by a bear, he destroyed most of my clothes, shoes included, but not my sleeping bag.
  14. It is a good idea, already suggested if I remember correctly on previous posts. In fact there is a MOD that I have not tested but from what it shows in the following video it is a very rough idea: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jyB3kB3KKc ED: It's a pity that we still can't use MODs after the last update.
  15. Hi @Ruruwawa, i just had reported this bug too, through Hinterland Support Zendesk platform. https://hinterlandgames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
  16. I totally agree that the diary and notes should be exportable in some way so that it is not necessary to open the game to consult them . After read forums and comunity on Steam, I had to resort to taking screenshots and run them through an OCR but it is tedious and very laborious, in the end I opted to open simultaneously to the game a note editor (SublimeText) to go jotting notes and reminders, store locations, etc..
  17. Yeah! too many clueless survivors fell to a terrible death crossing that dangerous bridge. The Ash Canyon bridges are less dangerous but more terrifying, there are good screenshots there too.
  18. Congratulations for the contribution, accurately and very professional. I think It is possible that the animal animations have been improved by watching the last Tales from the Far Territory trailer, like gray wolf way of walk.
  19. I sincerely think that TLD is not the game to recreate the seasonal natural environment, the explosive nature of spring requires another complete version of the game, is my modest opinion. In fact, extreme weather conditions like hot desert would not be very playable.
  20. Welcome and enjoy the long dark journey
  21. I agree that my favorite is Zaknafein but I found interesting and funny videos from MyUsualMe: https://www.youtube.com/@MyUsualMe
  22. I like the idea of including non-aggressive animals, even ones that cannot be hunted to enhance the immersion in the natural environment. Sometimes in the game I hear birds singing but I've never seen anything but crows everywhere 🐦
  23. In the end I didn't get to explore all the black rock, playing carelessly I killed Astrid overweight in my run through the gas tunnel of the mine, poor thing. 😔 RIP
  24. I had a game started before the fix just in Milton and I didn't find the key, then I went to Hushed River and when they released the update I went back to Milton and the key was already there, maybe you should try to exit and enter the map and look for it again.
