  1. I would love it, when the food items would give the condition percentage of the original nutrition value. And maybe meat lying around getting eaten by predators. At the moment it is possible to cook at several hunting sites and return months later to feast on ruined meat with cooking level 5.
  2. I first got the game on the Epic store giveaway too. Then, after I was sure, I liked it, I bought it on Steam, to honor the work HL has put into this masterpiece.
  3. Hi, the harvesting camera issue has occurred with wolfs for me too, so I reported that - as only rabbits and ptarmigans have been mentioned in the notes. The issue with tools has also been clarified by the support: You need a sharp tool for the first cut. After this harvesting without tools is still possible. This change is intentionally - and makes sense.
  4. Hi, after the update harvesting is broken. Sometimes, when harvesting the pelt of an animal, the point of view changes drastically, so that You can see the sky as animation background. After that leaving the carcass, it is instantly gone, although there was more to harvest. Happened to me with rabbits and wolfs. If You are harvesting a rabbit that is laying on the ground, the carcass will be set to a much smaller size, after You stop harvesting. With harvesting level 5 ist is now no longer possible to harvest a carcass with bare hands, even if it is not frozen. I will file a ticket. I am just interested, if it happens to other players too.
  5. To make the test complete, I checked birch bark tea too. It has the same effect as herbal tea. 77% health gain after 10 hours sleep and the same value on the fatigue meter as with the other options. From now on I will value my herbal teas a bit more, I think.
  6. From the description of the tea "improved rest" I first expected an effect on restoring energy (reducing fatigue) instead of / in addition to restoring health.
  7. Hi, I just checked the values on Stalker difficulty. The herbal tea is indeed only affecting the condition restore. 10 hours sleep, fully exchausted gained 77% health with tea and 64% without. The fatigue meter was at around 80% after waking up in both cases (Hypothermia active). I had expected else, too.
  8. As long as we have a valid anser from TLD or any admin, the "overwhelmed" may stand. This is a huge increase in ticket numbers and needs to be explained.
  9. I am not sure about the odds for catching fish after the update. I had barren runs before, too. The one thing important for me is, that it seems to make no difference if I am using bait or just the hook. This is a major design flaw, from my point of view. Taking the extra effort to create bait should reward the player with something. Oh, and it took me ages to find the crafting menu for the plain hook after the update. That was not nice.
  10. Yes, this would make a difference and maybe also be an incentive to visit BI or Blackrock from time to time.
  11. Yes, this ist true. I too tend to leave heaps of bear and moose meat near the harvesting site for later consumption. This leads to another quirk, I am not happy with. Fresh meat should attract predators, that consume or ruin it. Maybe making frozen food last longer and then storing it in a rock cache coould be a solution.
  12. Actually I do like the removal of ruined items when placed in a container. This is the only way to get rid of spent items (burnt flares, used whetstones and sewing kits...). For (ruined) food item, the nutrition should be related to the state, so 10% food items should only give 10% of their calory value, if consumed.
  13. Hi HandsomeJussi, as mentioned, after the Tales/DLC update carrying the badges over to a current run may be tricky. I could imagine that a possible approach would be to collect the 4DON badges and then copy this "user..." file to Your current "Survival" folder at ..\AppData\Local\Hinterland\TheLongDark\Survival Then rename this file to the new naming rules "profile_survival.104901" (104901 is the first version, I had after the update). Then delete or rename the other profile files. Noe when a new game is starten, chances are that the achievements from the "profile_survival.104901" will be carried over to Your current run. Be aware of that You should create the 2 savegames with Your feats before any of this. Keeping Your current profile file in a backup location is also a good idea. Regards and good luck
  14. I am glad that we do not have those severe frost periods here in central europe. But I do remember my childhood days, when wearing mediocre footwear, I had to reanimate my feet after a day of playing in the snow or on the ice. Best to use cold water at first.
  15. I adapted the rules a bit, as it was too easy to speedrun CH and PV within the first 2 hours. In addition this time I found only 4 pumpkins in PV. Cloth management to repair or bandage became quite crucial. - Only man-made things found at the pumpkins or on plates before house entrances are allowed (this refers to cloth, books, empty cans, toilet water and matches too). - Plants and birch bark can be harvested/collected. - The pies on day 4 are allowed, of couse. - Tools may be picked up too, to have some weapons against wolfs. - Sticks, wood and coal can be collected everywhere. - Spend at least the 2 hours game time per day in each region, finding at least 2 pumpkin heads in CH, ML and MT and 3 pumpkins in PV. After that move on to the entrance of the next region and end the day. - Day1: CH, day2: PV (after completion move to upper dam ML entrance), day3: ML, day4: MT (end the run in the building in Milton Park near the rope down to ML) Here is the description on how to install the needed game versions: You just have to wait long enough for the steam download to complete - maybe around 1 hour sometimes. There will be a notification in the Steam console. No copying of DLL files necessary.
  16. I was playing the 2018/2019 4DON events during the last weeks with my Steam version. Just to see the demon wolfs and pumpkins again. It is still a lot of fun. Although I am imposing some rules on me to keep it interesting: - Only man-made things found at the pumpkins or on plates before house entrances are allowed. Sticks, wood and coal can be collected outside of houses. - After the 2 hour ingame timer per day has been reached, the run must be ended at the nearest saving point. The run continues on the next day with the next challenge (wolfs, aurora, blizzard). - remember to pass the Hydro Dam towards ML before day 3, as with the aurora, the dam will be impassable. The goal is to find the 2 pumpkins in CH, ML and MT and the 5 pumpkins in PV before day 4 ends.
  17. I do not like the current Timberwolf mechanic. From a cost/return approach, fighting a pack does not pay off. And the persistant morale-meter (for instance when You retreat to the BI lookout tower into safety) is just annoying with the constant noise. I would like to see normal wolfs or packs roaming more freely around the maps.
  18. I started an interloper run recently in ash canyon. Made it to the gold mine as planned and traveled to TWM mountaineering hut. Here I wanted to heal up before the summit. So I slept for 10 hours - without a fire to save fuel. Died during a nights blizzard. I stared at the "You faded into the long dark" screen for quite a while...
  19. I did it out of curiosity, because I had bad luck on the summit more than once after the update. So I expected to find no gun - or at least only the gun but no shells. Just made a 1d6h4m run, finding barely enough coffee and energy drinks to make it to the summit. Again the full flare gun case was there, with gun and shells. Now that I am thinking about it, I could have dropped that bedroll in trappers, to gain some more speed.
  20. I often use the torch/flare method with the revolver, shooting at the wolf, once he stops. This will kill over time or immediately while indreasing my small arms skill.
  21. I tried a "no sleep" run just now. 1d8h43m with a full climb to TWM summit. Luckily there was a flare gun up there. I had recent runs with no gun or no shells in the plane. Imagine that during hopeless rescue...
  22. It is the other way 'round. The fire must be "outside", e.g. the colder part of the cave. Then it will burn longer and You want to stay in the "inside" region, to get the most temp bonus. You can create a visible border by walking back and forth, watching Your temp meter. Drop something when the indicator changes. Do this several times left and right of the first try. Then You know, where to put Your fire and where to sit.
  23. Thank You for sharing. That was fun to watch.
  24. Nice places to freeze are Mountaineers Hut in TWM and the caves in the Ravine. If a blizzard hits with -40C, You need a coal fire.
