  1. My first goal would be the flare gun in the Ravine or the summit (supposed they are still there 😉 ) to be safe from bears and moose. Then maybe the gold mine. With that I should be ready to search for the transition zone.
  2. Hi, the unityplayer.dll is there when You wait for the download to be complete. So this cannot be an issue. I have the same problem with the last (and most annoying) badge of Winters Embrace 2020. It took me 4 runs reaching from DP to BR/BI to find 25 maple syrups. This badge is showing in the 2020 install but does not register in the current version. I will try a few things and come back.
  3. I am tackling Winter's Embrace 2020 now (manifest 8352568196670106009, v1.79). The date is july 1st-31st. The low temperature is hard, especially in the beginning, when You have to gear up very fast to stay warm even indoors. The 25 day badge was then easy but finding 25 syrups is a chore, needing several runs. I do think, You must keep all the save files of Your syrup-runs to achieve the badge. By the way, making a new start on day 4 of 4DON was brutal and I managed it barely to make it to the PV transition mine to get some coal. I ended the run in the lookout tower as intended.
  4. There is a detailed review of weapons in a wolf struggle by GunTech: Hammer seems to end the struggle fastest but hurting weapons, like knife and hatched, will kill the wolf through bleeding afterwards.
  5. Darkwalker 2020 is working too, manifest is 3050439679829314779. So Your save file can have its second chance. And the cool thing is, the badges have been registered to my current version too. Now the only badges missing are Winter's Embrace 2020. This will come next.
  6. The 2019 4DON event works too. Here the needed TLD version is v1.61. download_depot 305620 305621 4370444917341772416 If You want to keep the 2018 event, rename the target folder "..\app_305620\depot_305621" to something like "..\app_305620\depot_305621_2018", as the download installs the new manifest in the App/Depot directory. This time the download took ages (7.193 files in total). To make things interesting, I used day 1 for recon. Using the two hours to locate as much pumpkins as possible. I ended the run after the 2 hours have been achieved. Then a fresh start for day 2, with the goal to reach Signal Hill. Another fresh start on day 3, aiming for Trappers Cabin. I managed it, shooting some aurora wolfs on the way and getting almost killed near deadfall. A stim brought me to Trapper's. Day 4 will be a fresh start with blizzard hopping around CH.
  7. Hi, thank You for bringing this up again. With Ghurcb's hints, I was able to play the 2018 event this weekend - and even without mods or mediocre game downloads. Basically, You install a Steam version of TLD that was active during the event and set Your computer date back to the dates in the past. This steps work with Steam only, as far as I have checked. Within SteamDB You can see a list of all versions, that were availiable in the past: https://steamdb.info/depot/305621/manifests/ (TLD AppID = 305620, DepotID Win = 305621) For 2018, I picked the manifest for version v1.38 (28th of october 2018). Using the steam console by opening this link within a browser: "steam://nav/console", steam will install the specified version on Your hard drive. The console command is "download_depot 305620 305621 8100233807851576967", with the last number being the manifest ID. (install location: ..Steam\steamapps\content\app_305620\depot_305621). This may take some time, so be patient. You may have to copy the file UnityPlayer.dll from Your normal install directory to run tld.exe. Then go to Your windows time/date settings, deactivate the automatic time synch and specify the first day of the 2018 event. After starting TLD, You will see the information screen and the additional menu option for 4DON. After completing a day, close TLD, change the date/time to acess the next day and so on. I will check if this is working for 2019 too. Oh and do not start any other TLD version, during Your 4DON days, as this will delete the run.
  8. Thank You for the detailed information on Your plans and the consequences. I am looking forward to start a new run within the expanded world. And december sounds so sweet. Thank You too for considering the "old" survival game mechanics and tackling the loot tables.
  9. With a sleeping bag or a stim and some coffee TWM summit is a must (take a hacksaw with You, if You do not want to gamble). The AC gold mine can be done without sleeping bag too and the backpack and crampons are a worthy prize. If You have no stim for AC, try to find the path up from Bitter Marsh to Homestaeder's Respite. Then it is only about passing the bear. Take some cloth and sticks with You for an emergency snow shelter.
  10. The curve is just moved by the buffs. The encunberance penalties are the same for every kg over Your max. carrying weight. As a rule of thumb, I try to stay below max+10kg if possible.
  11. @Admin: Could we please have some kind of regular update within this forum? It pains me how time and again news are released on Twitter or Steam without mentioning them here. Thank You.
  12. And if You drilled Your hole just at the camp office shore, it would be rightfully so... I would love the option to fish anywhere but I can imagine, that the balanced introduction will be somewhat difficult. Maybe it should be an option for custom games or below interloper only.
  13. I would love a monthly update too. Nothing too elaborate and time consuming, just a short heads up of the current tasks and maybe something about near future plans. All that here in a pinned topic in the forum, not on Twitter or Steam. At the moment we are quite left in the dark regarding current progress or if there will be any events, like the 4DON again. Investing the 15 minutes necessary per month would be well worth it from my point of view.
  14. Sorry, I am starting to take in the full extent of Your run: NO modern gear/food at all. How about the afflictions? Will frostbite or hypothermia end the run too? And You will count negative afflictions only?
  15. Hi, will the use of a sewing kit be allowed or will You craft fishing gear instead? Good luck!
  16. This is so true. Had to think of this picture on my Interloper Cartographer attempt. I walked into Bleak Inlet after mapping 6 regions and instead of using a torch or flare, I tried to fend off the first wolf pack with my bow. This was the end end of my story then.
  17. Hi Zak, the coaching videos are a great idea. My main concern with browncoat04's run, beside bringing smelly food into FM, is that he passed the MT transition cave and did not take some coal with him. A few pieces are always in my inventory, if possible. This will make hunting stopovers worthwile or even let You live through a snowstorm, if combined with some/lots of sticks. Another thing to keep in mind exploring a new region or before finding a bedroll is to carry enough materials to create a snow shelter.
  18. Interloper is much warmer at the beginning, a far as I remember. But in most cases, You need this...
  19. Very nice. What an effort and what a great outcome!
  20. I noticed this too last week. But I cannot say for sure, if this was different before.
  21. Hi Bearimpaler, try to watch some of Zaknafein's videos on loper gameplay. They gave me quite a bit of inspiration. It is vital to use Your health as a resource and cook teas for warmth bonus and nutrition. Go for "Well Fed" only after You have sufficient tools and weapon skills. Good luck on Your runs.
  22. Hi Zfp, the sticks and branches are reappearing after You pass them, walk along about 30m and then turn around. I reported this as a bug.
  23. Just a reflection out of my current interloper run: Don't give up too soon. The game will let You know, when it is time for the long dark. I started in DP and it took me 20 days to find a sleeping bag. Before that I was in the AC gold mine and on top of TWM. I had to build a snow shelter once to sleep off a bear attack on my way to the summit. At this point I was tempted to end the run. Now I am equipped with full tools and a bow and on my way to cooking level 5.
