  1. "And she's climbing her stairway...to heaven". Never though of fires in that fashion.
  2. Not to be an arse guessing twice in a row but looks like Mystery Lake on the bridge leading immediately to Carter Dam.
  3. Mountain Town (Milton) has the Grey Mother's House. Large stove and usually good loot but no workbench. I prefer the Paradise Meadow Farm as it has a large stove, access to a workbench (in the barn) and you can set up snares just outside to the North. Reasonably quick access to HRV, FM and ML. I know you said DP, CH and PV but try it sometime. I doubt you won't like it. For DP, I usually live in the lighthouse. It's central. CH is the Quonset Garage (workbench and indoor cooking)
  4. Gonna have to agree with a lot of peeps here. The atmosphere. The ambiance. Non-traditional graphics. The intricacies of having to plan your journey. The sheer exhilaration of putting hundreds and hundreds of hours into something and finding out something new (ie. Today I Learned).
  5. I don't have very many posts here but I have been playing the game for a long time. Just my two cents but I would postulate that a successful business model for anything, including video games, caters to the clientele. In this scenario, as stated by hozz, a simple toggle switch for SoD vs SoE in Custom Mode would appease everyone. This way, those who prefer permadeath would get what they want and those who desire the save function would also get what they want. Everybody wins. Thoughts?
  6. I probably would have screamed a little. Wife and kidlets would have laughed at that.
  7. Yeah...the crampons only go in one slot. Recommend (IMHO) that they only be worn when on a rope, ice or very steep terrain. They DO get wet and are a real pain to dry. The currently don't dry by putting them by a fire. The only way I could dry mine was to wear them for a few hours on a sunny day. If it's snowing, they will get wetter. At least that's how it works for me.
  8. Ooohhhhh. My OCD appreciation is going off the scale! Very Nice.
  9. In the Ravine heading to the Ravine Basin enroute to Bleak Inlet?
  10. Kill an animal and don't take all the meat. Leave a bit left. The animal will not disappear and every few days??? you get new feathers. I left the deer near the railroad in Mystery Lake alone and pick up feathers every time I pass through. Over 300 now.
  11. Yep...valid point. Looks like a bug. Submit a ticket.
  12. I started scumming about 300 days in my latest run. Been playing for years but never actually got to the 500 day mark. I am 11 days away. I am concerned about the odd, not-my-fault events that could potentially kill me and don't want to start my game again, so close to the 500 day mark. Example below On my other play-thru's I haven't scummed.
  13. Very nice. I'm going to incorporate a bunch of these into my current play through.
  14. Same here. Been living there for the last 20 or so in game days. Pretty comfortable. Spent a bunch of time at the Foreman's place as well. Both are good.
  15. For me...I'm a hoarder. I want to find all of the items in the entire game and take them back to one place, fix them to 100%, and have them on display. Very much part of my OCD. The pic below is just a partial collection...you should see the pistols and rifles.
  16. Still flip the visors down and mark the veh with paint to show searched. Only real habit is to check the back first as, when exiting from the back seat, I am aimed right at the front doors and cuts down on time I can get bumped by wolves.

    Wet Crampons

Lol. What about going to a cliff, drop them, right click and then jump. Probably dry quickly on the way down.

    Prybars

Wondering about the "realism" with a 1-2 use prybar. A prybar of that size should be able to eat through as many lockers as desired without degrading at all. Prybars are pretty tough tools. Not sure about the airplane containers though. Don't know enough about them. Car trunks...don't think they would impact a prybar too much but someone with more expertise mat be able to chime in on that one.
  19. Never worn the scarf for that reason. Would use it a lot more with your idea. Today ( in real life) it was -20C. I had a skull cap on under my torque and wrapped a long army scarf around my neck and face. Good to go.
  20. I think you may be on to something. I've been trying to figure out how to live indefinitely. Lots of threads here but trying to figure it out myself first. Food...rocks and rabbits. Fuel...sticks. Ignition...mag glass. Water.. good to go. The only thing is clothing. Eventually, we'd run out of cloth. So using animal pelts would work but eventually, at some point in time, we'd only be able to harvest rabbits (no ammo, no knife, hatchet etc). Why can we only craft a hat and mitts from rabbits. I like the idea of mixing them up.
  21. I would definitely agree. Snow mound would work. Or...maybe another use for all the rocks we find. Maybe a burial mound to keep the wolves from digging it up.
