  1. I was playing last night, key bindings still revert to default every time I play. So annoying!!!!!
  2. Don't even need topo. Any kind of simple straight-down aerial view would suffice. Nobody in their right mind would be making the kind of "angled perspective view" map you see in this game, especially using just a piece of charcoal. I swear the player would spend 90% of their map-drawing time shading in the mountains on them! (which also tend to block the view of important routes & places behind them!!) Simple lines, bird's eye view. All you need. Imagine a charcoal-ed & somewhat less accurate version of this map (minus all the spoilers, OFC). [Mystery Lake] That's all anybody would be doing.
  3. I agree. Prerequisite being a certain % completed, maybe in conjunction with all named places mapped as well. (I also wish the map design was better - it's very hard to understand what you're looking at in some areas - Ash Canyon being a prime example.)
  4. Here's some I've run into: keybindings reset to default every time I start the game the sound got quieter, as soon as I entered Ash Canyon I've come across numerous items which I cannot interact with / pick up (latest one was stump remover, lying on the ground) I came across a corpse which I couldn't interact with at all (Ash Canyon, middle of map) Pretty weird. (Steam/Windows)
  5. This is me, as well. Getting old quick. Steam, Windows.
  6. BR is my favourite place to settle down once I've gotten to a certain point.
  7. Yeah, hurting your hand in a survival situation can be debilitating. Think of a nasty deep cut when using a knife or something like that. Incorporate fishing tackle into giving yourself stitches; can't craft etc. until the stitches come out, that kinda idea.

No way do I want cobra chickens in this game, bear and moose are scary enough! lol I'm good with cougars. I live where this game is set, and we have cougars here. And elk. Not to mention orca...
  9. This game takes place in a (fictional, OFC) very rural area in British Columbia, Canada. I happen to live in a very rural area in BC, Canada. Grew up here. I'm on the tail end of the bell curve, when it comes to "age of gamers". A list of items we own & use regularly, and are very common hereabouts: Cross-country skis snowshoes firearms (normally: .22LR + shotgun + hunting rifle) bear spray multiple backpacks for different types of outings compass candles "prepper food" ice skates binoculars canoe or kayak tent folding saw different kinds of fuels and despite doing a lot of mountain scrambling etc., in all my time/adventures here, I've never sprained an ankle. Oh yeah, one other thing: plenty of mountain lions!
  10. I am in favour of realism. I am in favour of this idea.
  11. IRL, tinder also has qualities correlated with insulation. Just sayin'...
  12. My odd thing is that my key bindings revert to default every single time I play.
  13. Yep. Always gotta think like "what would I do if this was IRL". Me, if I entered a room & found a wolf inside: immediately exit the room, and figure out what the heck is going on! Crisis averted.
  14. Well, looks like the devs improved the sprain system, with the addition of crampons! Another step forward! Kudos!
  15. I live in rural BC. During the winter, this game kinda reflect my real life, haha. This is what I was doing a few hours ago:
  16. Sweet! I'm looking forward to it. I ended up making it to roughly 9 1/2 hours; it's such a tough grind, but I wanna see if 10 hours is possible. It was a very different, and thus fun, challenge. Glad they're going to keep it alive!
  17. I'd like a new skill like "climbing" where sprain likelihood goes down with climbing experience, or something like that. As it is now it's simply a random annoyance. But I finally got annoyed enough that I did a hack so that painkillers & bandages have no weight, so now I just carry around a ton of those items & simply "insta-heal" all sprains. Doesn't affect earning badges, much less annoying. :)
  18. I made a few small mistakes, but I'm not doing this again, what a grind!
  19. Just tagging along here to post the route I took. 5 1/2 hours, with no "killing time" at all. If you want to squeeze out more time for "bragging rights" then you can camp out near each region exit until the fog timer hits zero, before moving on. I bet one could exceed 10 hours if done smartly & with some luck. Anyway, this was essentially a speed run. I'd say that I got lucky with finding a TON of coffee, stims, energy drinks, and paint...
  20. Can't say I've ever burnt coffee when I set it on the ground near a fire. I'm not talking about directly on a cooking slot.
  21. The problem is the game causes you to get a sprain on a slope that isn't even as steep as my back yard. I've never had a sprain. "works as intended" /= "sound design" The problem indeed exists between the keyboard and a chair... just not the particular ones you're referring to. Argumentum ad verecundiam (authority = devs, in this case) is not a sound argument. Improvement is possible here.
  22. So far, I find it's kind of like this: It's the opposite of A Nightmare On Elm Street. In those movies, Freddy only comes for you when you sleep. In this game, the DarkStalker only comes after you when you're awake. Sorta.
  23. Here's where I am so far, on my first run. Went in kind of blind (I totally missed the green fires in DP & CH because I didn't look at the map & didn't notice them, I just ran off), but I did plan my route first; here's where I am so far: DP > crhwy > CH > chcm > PV > wr/chd > ML > rv Just had a nap in the cave in the lower part of the Ravine, about to enter BI. I think I've gotten pretty lucky in finding a lot of coffee & stims & some good clothes without having to deviate. But I'm curious - do the lures you leave still work after you leave the region you put it in? (the timer disappears) Otherwise I'm wasting them... Anyway, seems like I've got a big head start, so I think I'll be able to sidetrack in-and-out of BR on my way to HRV, which is my end goal! (rest of planned route: BI > FM > [BR] [maybe also back thru ML?] > MT > HRV ) BUG REPORT: tried to warm up a cup of coffee, on the ground beside a green fire, while I had a nap > woke up to a cup of burned inedible crap?!!!? In the regular game, it just keeps warm indefinitely, unless the fire goes out... [edit] Just wanted to add that I feel this is the best event yet. Great feel to it! Glad there's no massive grind like the last one where you had to find all that maple syrup (I ended up spam saving to get that one!)
  24. I don't like sprains in this game. (doesn't help that I actually do mountain scrambling on the regular, here in BC, and have never had a sprain) The thing that bothers me most is how it's pretty much unavoidable in certain areas or doing certain tasks. Can't get to many cairns without going up a stupid slope, for example. Turning sprains off defeats feats, so that's a no-go. I'd have it tied to footwear, and/or some sort of skill, which would be tied to how many steps on sprain slopes, climbing ropes, exercise in general, something like that. I'd also like such a skill to also be related to how tired you get while climbing a rope. Shouldn't get that tired from it every single time, forever.
