  1. I haven't ever seen one go through to another region and I like it that way. For just one example tunnel leading from mystery lake to forlorn muskeg as aloud me to past the nearby wolves without having to wast resources or wait hundreds of times.
  2. Now I want to know what he said. The long dark isn't about clicking as many buttons in a precise order, so not having hotkeys for every action is a nice change of pass from the other game I have been playing for years Starcraft two. If it's really bugging you though, just think of the extra click as you having to get out your deck of cards.
  3. Did you try the Unity asset store?
  4. Who remembers when we bought the games we wanted instead of paying for them all. This post is from 2026.
  5. I got them just by playing the game normally without really trying for any of the feats.
  6. The method I would use is to gather enough supplies for days and then use the torch from each previous fire as lighter and fuel. Light one after another like this pretty soon you will have a long line fire across the area.
  7. The most efficient way of killing wolves is to push a deer in to them and this also makes them stand still while they eat. If you want to be truly efficient with your arrows skip wolves all to gather and only hunt beers. As for forced fights aim just below the shoulder, track them for a few seconds and wait till there about to jump on you to release. If there are two if you sprint amount between shots you can get them both, just don't over turn or your dead. If there are more then two find a tree or something to climb of and massacre them from safety. If they catch you out on ice first of what are you doing letting them do that? Then sprint back, turn around and kill one as they stop just before charging, repeat. Also I play on an Xbox most of the time an I hardly ever miss with any of the weapons so, it can't be that much harder on Playstation. You can also try adjusting sensitivity and the like.
  8. False. Two legs is more efficient than four and combined with spine and proper hip bone allows for greater height.
  9. I always knew it looked funny. Okay then the back wall above the unnamed pond and log cut in the north east corner. I still think need to do something with those two areas. Mean area two does have that little cave but it's point less since carter is right there.
  10. I would say that it's clear Astride wasn't found directly on the other side of the tunnel because we no what that area looks like exhibit A. Molly probably went a way through the hills that the player cannot and found Astride some where here exhibit B. Now that is pretty far for Molly to go hunting but, I am going to assume that hinterland is going make a region north of mystery lake. This is one of two spots that make the most sense for the entrants, exhibit C. I am pretty sure that hinterland will want us to have a moment of recognition and ah ha moment if you will, when entering this new region for the first time. It is also possible to be near the other entrants in exhibit C both places serve no real function as of yet so I think they have future plans. I guess the first place is where you land if you fall out of the world in episode two but, that could be anywhere. Also Molly only says she was out hunting, we have been assuming she means deer yet, we see here handy work all across the valley. A\ B C
  11. Actually it I once made it from Broken Railroad all the way almost through the ravine with the starting gear in interloper and it is entirely possible to get further and Astride actually has pretty good starting gear so, it's entirely possible that she could go from the crash site, to Milton, to the collapse, to pleasant valley.
  12. The game doesn't render well at long distance. The far away places switch into more of a sight seeing mode that shows bulk textures and other regions aren't loaded at all. Notice I said shows. As far as I can tell everything loaded and running everywhere in your region so, it wouldn't take much on hinterlands end to remedy this problem. They just seem to be worried about making the game to difficult to run so, their holding back on certain assets.
  13. You can always chase them to ward wolves. This way you get the wolf plus, a free rabbit.
  14. Yes or to the harmlessness but, still being fun. It also might have nothing to do Nerf at all who knows.
  15. I put Into many zero's. I am really embarrassed about that, I was extremely hungry when I wrote this. Like, haven't eaten in 24 hours and am about to hungry so my numbers might be all over the place. But't I never said they were small. Just that they were independent. Unless you count Canada but, I don't think there on the media fund for this year. I might just not know how to navigate there site though. I do think they are small not tiny but, not to be called anything else.
  16. I know all that. I don't know what they mean when they say she's back.
  17. Everything odizzido is true -1.5c which in reality is half the year during the day where the long dark takes place. But, the long dark doesn't take place in reality which is why I think that it should spoil from a game play stand point. I digress.
  18. While true, plus the some 200,000 they started with they have made a pretty Penney but, here is a quick run down of there estimated costs if they were in the U.S because that is where I understand the best (it's mostly their insurance I don't get). For 30 well trained it is about 3,600,000 a year. Over eight years that is $28,880,000 (again this in the U.S with things like insurance, stock compensation and all that other fun stuff). As for unity they could be paying $300 or the could be paying 3 million a year. I guess I could go through and try determine exactly what assets Hinterland is using but, that would take all day. I will just say 100,000 but, I can't stress enough that unity is not an out of the box engine and I am practically guessing. I don't know how big Hinterland HQ is but, office space is about 6,000 per person per year so that is 180,000. I have never once seen an add for the long dark so I will assume that the marketing cost is undifferentiated from man hours. Now hinterland has mentioned using out of house contractors for things like localization and translations and legal things like, shipping licenses and I.P but, without digging a little to far I can only guess at 1,500,000 a year. So the total for this incredibly rough version of hinterlands spending's is 41 million U.S dollars, That's 59,640,840 CAD. Now luckily hinterland doesn't sell the long dark for 8.00 they sell it for 29.99, We will say $25 because it used to be cheaper. Hinterland has a total revenue of $925,000,000 U.S. But, wait Valve and Microsoft both take 30% of a sales meaning that they lose 277,500,000 so now there at 647,500,000. Then 5-12% depending on the state the product was bought. So now we are down to 582,750,000. Nope wait there is a double tax for many Canadian digital product so we actually have 518,000,000. The net tax rate for corporations in Canada is 15% so we are down to 440,300,000. So If people have been throwing millions of dollars at hinterland to justify the $25 price tag then they have had a revenue of 440,300,000 U.S or 637,997,700 CAD. Now I am hungry now so I want even start to think about the profit but, the point is that Hinterland Isn't backed by a large publishing company and Cost much less then $200,000,000 to make and Isn't publicly traded In the form of B or C stocks. In fact I'm not sure they sell A stocks so for all intents and purposes it is an indie game.
  19. Assuming the loot tables are roughly the same and hinterland doesn't add some Troll disease system, a Long dark in a tropical area would be much easier then the long dark. Plus how Will and Astride get Jamaica. Do they use one of the canoes and row all the way down the west coast of the united states of America, past central America, through panama and to Jamaica or perhaps they would go down the Colorado, navigate a bunch of smaller frequently branching rivers, onto yellow stone , down the Missouri to the Mississippi all the way down to the gulf. Or do they go north around the entirety of North America. Also I swear I read in an interview that their next game was going to be the long dark two but, I can't seem to find it. This would be far from the first time hinterland has changed their mind though. "No supernatural elements" Two years later Immortal bear! Two years after that Immortal deer!
  20. I still haven't figured out what hinterland means?
  21. Try it. Go dump some food in the snow and come it a year latter if it is a pound of bloody meat like in game it will have maggots if not completely gone any thing that isn't sealed air tight is going to get some fungi or bacteria colon to decompose it or if it is completely sealed like in a chunk of ice eventually it will become hard, dry and devoid of nutritional value. The main thing is though looking at it from a game play perspective. I think that the game is much more interesting when you have to worry about how much food you should gather before it starts wasting.
  22. There is a discord server? Also I have done modes like this in other games before I.e Subnautica and don't starve But, both of these load there worlds completely differently so, it might out side of my ability's and it is definitely out side of my artistic ability's.
  23. I don't if you have been playing the long dark for a long time and just now joined the forums but, hundreds of camp fires sitting there for ever starts getting to you after awhile. Also I think that since birch bark is infinite making it where you can survive forever in a small area is overpowered.
  24. Well be fine. Not every body will be but as a whole. I mean guys Spanish flue 40 million deaths and swine flue had 500,000 these are deaths. Covid-19 only has 2,000 and the vaccine is estimated to be done in late April or early may. Last I last checked still here so think that only thing there is to fear is fear it's self.
