  1. Hinterland also uses location names and environmental story telling quit a bit in survival.
  2. I think raw meat should weigh more.
  3. First things first I am defining a community manger as any one whose job with in the studio is to handle public relation. First, how well is your forum policed and why what do you think good policing on a forum looks like. Second, how well do they stave off the rage of game breaking bugs and sever crashes. Third, have you ever been frustrated after being silenced by an admin. Four, how often do you get excited about new content. Fifth, do you feel informed about what the future is going to hold for your game and developers, also do you care. Sixth, do you think that community management in games should be relegated to costumer service. Seventh, do you think that good community management is owed to you as part of the game you bought. eighth, bottom line. How much does a bad community influence your decision to buy games from that company again. You don't have to talk about all of these points and if you have something I didn't ask to say go a head.
  4. There is it's at the top of the screen.

first off this and jumping have been brought up so many times people usually don't respond these posts. Also the long dark only has two years of development left, assuming hinterland continues releasing wintermute episodes once per year. Maybe in a future game, but not in the long dark.
  6. With bear stuff worth it both times. As far as escaping the wolves just get on top of the scaffolding and get to the trailer. leave the trailer then leave immediately all the wolves will return to their spawn positions from where you can make it to the road. before they find you.
  7. Okay that last post was about tames in general this one is about your wolf ideas. I pretty sure hinterland is above arbitrary day requirements to unlock features. That isn't a reason when it comes the long dark. Sort of. Yet the big work would come from writing a whole new set of behaviors behaviors and at least thirteen new animation cycles at the minimum.(eating dog food, fighting bears, fighting moose, fighting wolf, fighting wolves, fighting timber wolf, fighting timber wolves, slowly approaching, a new eating animation and a way of showing starvation, dehydration, infection, and exhaustion status.) \
  8. Okay there are several things wrong with the tames period in the long dark. 1) The long dark at it's heart is about loneliness adding companions undermines that theme. 2) No matter how hard you make taming it will always make the game for giving. Every other thing in the game once you get them it makes the game easier not more forgiving. 3) Make perpetual survival practical. When you have a tames that i'm assuming can pay for them selves in calories each day you've effectively created a passive food source that doesn't and any more of that and then any area with to rabbit groves can be lived in for ever with very little skill.
  9. There are three types of combat in the long dark. Shooting comfortable (Any time your comfortable), shooting panicked(any time your uncomfortable) and struggles. These three each are necessary beings that form a nearly poetic combat system that fits well with the theme of the game. Throwing weapons would be contentious to struggles do to the fact that, do to the very nature of combat in the game one would be objectively superior. Not to mention that on a technical level a descent throwing weapon system is opposing to the rest of the game as well as looking visually strange with the art style.
  10. I'm not sure if that's what it's called but it should be at the bottom of the difficulty selection when you start a wintermute save. wildlife doesn't mess with you hardly at all in that difficulty.
  11. If your looking for custom it is the at the bottom of the difficulty selection.
  12. There is it's called pilgrim. Its just above Voyager on the difficulty selection screen. Unless your talking about Wintermute then it's called green horn.
  13. The only part of this update I will ever use is the data gathering part which I'm assuming is going to be used to better improve the game down the line. As well as hopefully one day being published. I mean I guess I have already used the supply mounds to break the A.I, but all fun do be had with that is counteracted by the fact that the best part of the long dark is when first get it. That first little while when you don't really know how much world there is and after a few hours you check your achievements and see that the game says you've only explored 2% of the game world so, you feel like there's a nearly endless expanse of wilderness out there. About two years ago I bought my much younger cousin the long dark and the first thing he did was play wintermute and then after twenty minutes checked to see what achievements he should be looking for. When he saw that there was an achievement for reaching the summit of timber wolf mountain he knew that's what he was going to try and do. Now of course he was playing wintermute so he couldn't go to timber wolf mountain, but I didn't tell him that. After leaving Graymothers house he noticed the hill with the signal tower and thought that it was a lot taller than it is and that it was timber wolf mountain or that Milton was on timber wolf mountain and that was the summit so he set of to make his way up. Being used to game where travel is the shortest part of the journey he thought that making his way through the town, getting a little lost, getting attacked by a wolf and hiking against the cold up the trail was a reason able challenge for the achievement. Upon reaching the radio tower he opened up the supplies create expected to be greeted by a location pop up and the achievement. After a moment I took the controller turned him around faced the direction of timber wolf mountain found the biggest mountain and said that is timber wolf mountain. You could see the stars in his eyes when he went being disappointed at how short the trip had been to staring into the great unknown. When you give players to much information you take away some of the magic. My thoughts on this update ultimately are...
  14. I think tents would make the game to forgiving.
  15. I can't remember the last time I had applesauce.
  16. I was expecting the Kalashnikov's-automatic rifle an because it's a video game it is legally required to only have the version from 1947.
  17. I have never used an auto walker feature period. In fact I trouble seeing their usefulness except for people who physically can’t hold down a button or press the left stick forward.
  18. You guys are the home stretch of fishing the long dark, as in you have about a normal production cycle left before being complete. You have mentioned before in an interview a a few years ago with I believe P.C gamer, your next project was going to be the long dark two. Is that still the case if not then what. If not is your next game going to be mechanic similar, or maybe even reuse assets from the long dark. Also when are you plan on starting preproduction?
  19. Every other hide in the game has two when will we get a new clothing item wolf hide?
  20. Mojang started doing this and now everybody wants to. I guess it's just cheap exposure and if the series ends up being a modest success like Mojang's ask Mojang it will pay for it's self.
  21. I was chill t the top of the mountain for a few days eating the heaviest foods, breaking down all the lesser clothing items to cloth and then getting everything I want to keep into top shape. Then I climb down the side of the mountain straight to the hut. Also I think we have assume that once we go up around fifty Kilograms we are dragging your stuff with use in one form or another.
  22. Did yo you check the fence homestead and near by cave? the cave has a candy bar and Is warm enough at the back to not freeze while make tinder from sticks on most days. If you ran out of supplies right after going to the Spence homestead then most not have broke down the creates under the bed, there's a safe full of good loot directly below it. Or are you at other radio tower? If so after you fight the bear there some metal boxes with minor loot. There's cave near by up the frozen river that should be warm and has a handful of minor and medium items. If it's your last one and you have at least 30% health and no other negative effects except hypothermia risk then you can get to train tunnel to mystery lake. When the bear attacks your status gets your status reset no matter what (this what I did for my speed ~70% speed run sadly he doesn't reset frost bight.) . As for actually fighting the bear don't mess with any other weapons besides the spear, wait until he's about 4 yards away if your completely fatigued thrust and then mash like there's no tomorrow. As long as you have around 500 mpm (mashes per minute) there really isn't a reason take any damage during any of the fights.
  23. the only way I could see some one make the mistake of eating the wrong meat is simply do to carelessness. The fewer pop ups and the like in a game the better.
  24. Why speak when everything worth saying has been said?
  25. First of the long dark was officially released in 2017 and second no critic that looks at anything beyond what they enjoyed the most would call this the best game of the year.
