  1. I encountered a similar issue a long time ago, and I found it can be fixed by turning the game brightness down. Try that and see if it helps!
  2. I really enjoyed Ep4, but even playing on hardened, I thought it was too easy with weapons. So I'm doing my own personal challenge: playing the entirety of Ep4 without the Revolver, Hunting Rifle, Bow, or flare gun. (On hardened survivor) I've quickly learned that Torches, Flares, and Stones will be my best friends. Noisemakers might not even be needed as you can just ignore timberwolves if you have a flare/torch. I'll keep this tread updated on my misadventures -SpanishMoss
  3. Are we forgetting the distress pistol? There is no role for the shotgun to fill. Whether you like it or not, TLD is a difficult game. If anything they should be making it harder rather than easier, so the veterans have more challenges to overcome, and the new players can avoid or learn to work with. Timberwolves are a perfect example, a new challenge for veterans to overcome. And how did they balance it? Noisemakers. (I'm ignoring the cheesy methods of avoiding timberwolves) If you were to add a shotgun, how would you balance it? Making it have just one shot isn't enough, there has to be some challenge to it, some skill required. If you ran up to a bear and shoot it in the face and it always dies, that's too easy. If you shoot it in the face and it might die, then you'd certainly get mauled, and that's teaching players bad habits. There's just no way to balance that. While I'd agree a shotgun would fit the ATMOSPHERE of TLD, it wouldn't fit the GAMEPLAY. There are already plenty of methods for dealing with wildlife. I know it's crazy, but violence isn't always the answer. Simple crouch evasion works, and fire is a very effective deterrent as well. If you are struggling with these methods, then the current weapons address these problems. A shotgun just seems like a guaranteed "Get out of jail free" card to stop a wolf with no skill. If the game is too hard, try a easier difficulty, or custom.
  4. Unfortunately hinterland is not quick with patches, so expect something in about a month.
  5. Unfortunate... Well if you haven't already, make a support ticket. Sometimes the devs can manually fix your save file if you send it to them. and for now, I'm sure you've tried reloading, but if you have an older save, try going back to that. You may have to re-play part of the game unfortunately, but it may fix the trigger that didn't occur last time
  6. Have you gone to signal hill yet? That is part of the quest, the game might have just forgot to tell you
  7. Yeah I disagree as well. I'm unsure what could be holding up hinterland, but fixing a bug like that seems like a relatively simple fix (disclaimer: I'm not a coding expert) A bug like "not enough memory" might be caused by a small amount of faulty code attempting to allocate a large amount of storage to the save file, bigger than the system has. But because they haven't fixed it, it must have roots in other parts of the code. Either way it seems unreasonable for them to have taken this long. But hinterland has provided a very bug-free experience for countless people, so while it is unfortunate that this bug exists, at least their releases aren't as buggy as other developers (of similar size, EA has no excuse for letting bugs slip through lol).
  8. Hinterland is doing a lot of behind the scenes stuff right now, and since the game was mostly stable, bug fixes weren't a high priority. Separating survival mode and story mode is taking a lot of their development resources
  9. Well actually, equipped clothing weights 25% of its normal weight, so it's a little more realistic
  10. An advanced encrypt/decrypter made by the German army during WW2. Completely mechanical, and almost uncrackable.
  11. Items IN THE BOXES still decay as if they are in a container. Any food items that were already ruined when they were put into the boxes will be instantly deleted. If a food item that had low condition was put in the box, it will still decay, until when it reaches 0% condition, it will also be deleted. Regardless of where in the location the item was placed or stored, they will all be transported into the red container, so make sure if you have any known caches of food, to remove them before they become ruined. This is an unfortunate oversight by the devs
  12. For pc, specs of the computer significantly affect load times SSD is faster than HDD better graphics card is faster Faster VRAM decreases load times Having Nivida's Resizable Bar, or AMD's Smart Access Memory significantly decreases load times More memory can minorly effect load times and of course, a better CPU, or one with higher clocks and/or more cores will decrease load times as well however, the older a game is, the longer it takes to load since more assets have to be kept track of My pc's load screens are only 2-3sec long, barely enough time for the Tip in the corner to be read before the game loads
  13. There are some songs that just go great with the atmosphere of TLD. My favorites are the ones chosen by the developers for their trailers: "Lion's Roar" - First Aid Kit https://youtu.be/gekHV9DIjHc "Tall Tall Shadow" - Basia Bulat https://youtu.be/KfjnRbHtLAQ What are some other songs that would go good with TLD? Post your suggestions below!
  14. When you're walking down a path to get something with the wind in your face, the second you turn around to go back, the wind will rotate and be at your face again
  15. I think hinterland will try to make the transition as seem less as possible. However I would always recommend backing up your save file manually before an update.
  16. It might be a pc spec issue, can you list what hardware you are running, and where you acquired the game? (disc, steam, etc). On windows, you can find your pc specs in Task Manager Search "Task Manager" in the search bar, open the program. Press the "open expanded view" if applicable, select the second tab next to "processes" (forgot what it's called), list all of the items present in each section here.
(Google Translated) So, what I think you are trying to say is that despite having z bound to auto walk, auto walk won't activate. In addition, the "surveyed locations" counter is not updated. I do not know what could be wrong with auto walk. Are you play on PC or Mac? As for the surveyed locations counter, this is a known bug. Locations are still being tracked, but the number is just not updating. They should be fixing this in the next patch. -SpanishMoss
  18. 91. Forgetting to take antibiotics for food poisoning before sleeping 10 hours (true story)
  19. The general formula for stalker is that every region will have one rifle, and 0-2 revolvers (not counting preppers caches). So if you can't find a rifle at one listed spot, try checking all of them, at least one should have what you're looking for.
  20. You can also use these maps of every region, however, they spoil the layout of every region, so only do this if you don't care about spoilers. These maps have possible firearms spawns in them
  21. Which region are you in/ want to find a gun in?
  22. One thing you are forgetting is how new players experince the game. This game is extremely challengeing for new players, as there isn't a lot of hand holding. Countless players have died on episode one because they weren't able to find the way to grey mothers house. Auto-clothing is to help players who don't understand the complex clothing system, with layers and all that, by putting the clothing on tin the correct spot, so they start to learn how it works. Infinite sleep removed some challenge for players who would otherwise not know what to do when it's night, and their fatigue is full. They would just stand around looking for something to do to pas the time till morning because they don't want to put at night. Hinterland have started fixing the note issue, by making to you only have to read it to start a quest, but it really is just the players fault if they don't pick it up.
  23. I've also had this issue, I'm on a 180 day+ stalker, and it's really jarring every time
