  1. If you can get in past the "guard doggies" first. 2 Stalkers dead already, lol.
  2. You can always choose to go HUDless, and use [Tab] to pull up the HUD when needed. or [F] to check your status screen. Though, I am not 100% sure HUDless turns off the morale meter on the HUD or not, haven't tested it yet. 3 spawns into the new region. 1 Pilgrim, 2 Stalker. All dead, very quickly. That cold will kill a Pilgrim, pretty quickly too, if RNJesus hates you like it hates me, and spawns you in with the cruddiest of clothing, and very little clothing to be found near the cannery. And Yeah, the Timbers do a number on a fresh Stalker with no tools, weapons or means to fight back. Just one Marine Flare and fists, lol. Heckuva place to spawn in at on Loper, I am sure.
  3. The new region is very interesting, so far. Very ugly, and pretty at the same time. I hope people understand what I mean by that. I will spoiler tag these first shots, so people can discover the region for themselves. Don't reveal the hidden content if you don't want spoiler shots.
  4. All I can say is... OMG, I am so ready to die in all new horrific ways. Thanks Hinterland, this looks amazing.
  5. There is a certain someone on Steam who now refers to all corpses he finds as "JayXL" in his screenshots.
  6. Nice touch, the falling snow. I am curious- is this all hand done, pixel by pixel? Or done with an image converted to pixel art using a tool in something like Photoshop, or an online conversion tool like Pixelator? I also understand if you or your wife do not want to share how it is done. More curious about what you would like to see from others who may want to contribute images to the thread. (And you should use the .gif with the falling snow as your avatar... love that snow!)
  7. The non-potable water is not clean, or there would be no chance of getting Dysentery from drinking it. Wild animals don't use restrooms like humans do. The go wherever they are standing, sitting, flying, ect. when they need to go. "Dirty" is not only a thing that happens from motor oil and gasoline/petrol. There is a reason we must boil water to make it potable (safe to drink).
  8. And what would we do with a generator? It would only work during the aurora, and during the aurora we already have power. But... (Spoilered due to Wintermute Episode 3 spoilers... don't look, if you don't want to know.) And please don't quote the hidden content openly, leave the spoiler tag intact. Not everyone has played Wintermute Ep 3 yet, that may not want to see what is hidden.
  9. Eh, and I see I typed the wrong words... "detection radius cut down" reads wrong. I meant to say "scent detection range made larger". They will smell us from further away, not the other way around. And yeah, some folks would like it, some would not. So... custom settings to turn it off. And balanced across all experience modes, like sprains are. Not a "If you play Interloper you get stinkier, faster. While in Pilgrim mode your **** never stinks." And that is what I think would be most difficult. How to make it affect everyone equally., with no perceived bias against any mode. A mechanic that makes you think about your playstyle (are you reckless or cautious?) rather than it becoming a grindy, frustrating micro-management thing.
  10. Sticks. Can't resist picking up every stick I see. And, reishis. I always have a huge amount of shrooms, more than I will ever need.
  11. 1) I have always thought that our scent detection range would be a good fit if a hygiene mechanic was added. Not washing after harvesting a carcass, or not washing for a specified period of time, our detection radius could be cut down, just like it is with the stink-o-meter. This makes sense, and fits with how wolves and bears detect us already. 2) No. That's just adding an annoyance that will cause a great deal of anger among some of the community. Being more detectable, from a shorter s distance because the stink-o-meter has 1 squiggle added to it is enough of an encouragement for many people to use the mechanic, without overly punishing those who choose not to. And as far as needing a bathtub I say no to that as well. For players at risk of Cabin fever, or Interlopers who have fewer intact shelter buildings to use in general, as well as certain regions having no bathtubs in them at all, makes this a serious punishment for players who spawn into those regions, or who choose to fully explore those regions. I think requiring a cooking pot makes more sense. 3) Potable water only. Would you wash your face with water from a dirty toilet, or mudpuddle? Melt snow, boil water, wash up with clean water (botht the character and/or washing clothing). And this is where it gets complicated. You need to boil 2L of water for each piece of clothing? There are some of us who may enjoy this idea, but there will be many who will not. If they do add this, it needs to be simple, and not a full day of washing the character and every piece of clothing, every tool that may have animal blood on it, ect. Thee needs to be a balance that most people would find reasonable. Use time up washing vs. hunting/foraging/cooking/reading a skill book, with the benefit of reducing our scent radius fr predator detection, or no washing with the increase of our scent radius for scent detection. And honestly, this will hit players who enjoy Stalker Mode the hardest (people like me...), because our detection range is already "Wolves smell you from a mile away, and there sure are a ton of wolves out here...". Pilgrim players would not even need to use the mechanic as the game is right now. Everything runs from them but the Moose right now (we'll see if Timber wolves will attack in Pilgrim Mode after the December update.). Which means it singles out Stalker players, to a great degree, and affects Pilgrims not at all, Voyageurs only slightly, and Interlopers a bit more, since every wolf is more deadly, Stalkers will be heavily affected. A balancing nightmare for the devs to try to work out, to make it work well on all experience modes. I do still like the idea, and would like to see something like it implemented, but only as a part of a larger overall Health & Wellness system. And from a balancing perspective, let alone a coding perspective, it will not be easy for the devs t get rght. Your idea is a valid one, and yes, it has been requested many times over the years, with a wide range of opinions on it, and a wide number of branched ideas about how it should work. I won't upvote it, but I won't downvote it either. I do think it would need to be an option in Custom Settings, so players can turn it on or off, if anything like it is added, in the same way that we can turn Cabin fever or Sprains on or off.
  12. Will be obviously necessary for Killer Rabbit of Forlorn Muskeg. Look at the bones!
  13. Still hoping for a craftable blankie. Add an extra bit or warmth to a bedroll or bed, or to snowshelter or vehicle used for sleeping, if you don't have a bedroll with you for some reason. Sitting in a car waiting for Old Grumpy Bear to stop pacing around it? [Use] blanket to give a few degrees more warmth while you wait.
  14. @darkyHutch That is absolutely fantastic! Please, share more, and I hope other artists will join in and share as well.
  15. Lol. And I don't play Loper, I prefer Stalker. I am seriously wondering how big the pack sizes will be in Stalker, and if more than one pack will spawn in the new region at a time. Early Stalker, when there are already wolves-o-plenty, and you are still in cruddy gear, with no weapons found yet, or a rifle/revolver but no ammo/cleaning kit... throw in a large Timber pack, and it's going to be really interesting. Also wondering what rating the new region will have. I suspect it will be Advanced, not Beginner or Intermediate. Not a bad thing, the game kinda begs for more Advanced Regions, IMHO, with something in them (it, in this case) that is really compelling, and has a high risk vs. reward balance to it. I get the feeling that this is going to be a very challenging region to start in, and probably not one I will visit as a Stalker, until I am kitted out well, unless I choose a random spawn location, and RNJ dumps me in there, nearly nekkid (and outdoors... ). I am so looking forward to this update!
  16. Just thinking about what @ajb1978 said about gunsmithing/ammo crafting: Hiding this comment as a spoiler, as it may have some Wintermute Episode 3 spoilers in it, don't read it if you do not want to see possible spoilers for Story Mode:
  17. I also see 2 upper level areas. With no stairs... ladders instead. and there are other ladders in the game world. Mostly step ladders but a not all of them are step ladders. I wonder if we will be able to climb ladders, like we can climb up some rocks and ropes. I'm always interested in being able to climb things. Everything, lol.
  18. ^^^ I am wondering what time of day it was, and what the lighting you had was. The game won't let you craft in the dark. (no [Begin Crafting] will show up at the bottom. And rather than post a full page on sharing screenshots from XBox One (which is sadly not as easy as from Steam or GoG (already saved on your computer). Here's a link to an article (a little old. but it still works the same way, at least for One Drive..) https://www.windowscentral.com/how-take-screenshot-xbox-one
  19. Yep. And this is just for the nomination phase. If we want TLD to get into the finals in December, we need to spread the word, and get our friends and other fans of the game to vote for it as a cohesive group, and get it through this phase.
  20. If that shows up in an update, I will die laughing, and know who to thank.
  21. When you just want to sneak out for a bit,. but Dad decides to take a nap right next to the door... That's a fantastic shot.
  22. Me either. I have some I'm eligible to vote for. Bought two new games this week but I keep playing TLD instead of the new ones. You can vote for any game released in 2019 for any of the other categories, whether you own them or not, whether you have played them or not. I just don't feel right about voting for games I own and have never played, or don't own at all, based only on media and fan hype, Let's Plays, and reviews. I think in the past there was just so much voting for random games that had huge hype going on at the time of the nomination voting, and then in December, when the final voting took place, mainly because Steam gave Level-up XP or Trading Cards for the sale badge(s)... TLD got screwed by big AAA titles that had huge PR going for the Awards. I really want to see Hinterland get this, I really feel they have worked hard to earn it, and that they do deserve it.
