  1. Wandering around Milton, a bit sad at what the town has become, and what it might have been like, once upon a time. Sobered by the birth and death dates on the tombstones... so young. So very young... Looking at little details, because I love them so much... And just really loving the cloud layer here. Good night, for now.
  2. Okay, just a follow up. Steam updated the Client with a few fixes yesterday. One in particular... a fix for the one webhelper that has been crashing, and causing the Client and games to lock up (supposed to have been a fix for Mac users... but it seems to have fixed it on Windows 10 as well.) I am now getting a steady 144 fps again in the game, no stutters, no hitching... running smooth again for me, when launching through Steam Client. Anyone else launching through Steam Client notice any improvement as well? (provided you installed the new update of the Steam Client, of course...)
  3. Lol! Fair enough. As I said... to each their own. It's all good. Though, trying something new is sometimes a good way to find something that works even better for you. (Which is how I ended up with low condition on top instead of high condition.)
  4. Lol! I do lowest to highest, so the low condition stuff is at the top, and I can eat it (risk it) first, or dump it out of my inventory quickly to avoid the risk of food poisoning. But I agree, sorting by condition feels best for me, as well. But... to each their own.
  5. I hated it. it did make me motion sick, just like *some* games in VR do (while others don't). I would toggle it off if it were added- and it better have a toggle to allow me to turn it off, like we have for Camera Effects... which I leave on. The gimping with an ankle sprain does not bother me, it's true-to-life for me and my cane, lol. I see that view IRL, every day, any time I walk. And the blur effect when in pain closely simulates the blurred view and tearing up I get when my pain levels hit over 10/10, or I have a blinding migraine going on. Wrist sprains when falling on a slope is realistic (notice I use no " " there, too...). Can't tell you how often I have sprained a wrist when I have fallen, on a slope of even on a flat surface, falling into a wall or onto the ground. I am a klutz IRL, I roleplay my characters like they are as well. Though they get hurt less often than I do IRL, lol.
  6. No, Type 1 cannot control their blood glucose levels by choosing what they eat, and just take insulin sometimes. That's not how it works. Type 2 can, to some degree, depending on how well controlled or how severe their condition is. But someone with type Diabetes needs insulin every day to keep blood glucose levels in control.. If Dimitri were under good control prior to the crash, as long as he was not eating anything, and he was drinking lots of fluids to wash some of the ketones from his bloodstream (produced by his body digesting fat and muscle tissue to provide energy), to prevent full blown DKA, he would still have rising blood glucose levels, and he would still need insulin asap to lower those levels to normal again. The liver does not produce glucose. It stores glucose. the pancreas produces a hormone called glucagon, which when released, triggers the liver to release glucose into the bloodstream. In people without Diabetes, this process works normally. In people with Diabetes, Type 1 or Type 2, it does not, to varying degrees, based on the individual themselves. Diabetes affect each person that has it in a unique and different way. It is not a one-size-fits-all disease. And Type 1 is a totally different monster than Type 2 is, totally different conditions, that share some similarities, and do not share others. They are not the same thing, even if they share the word "Diabetes" in their common names. Diabetes mellitus is the disorder. It comes in a billion different flavors, each different for each person that has it. Type 1, Type 2, Gestational Diabetes, and the more controversial classification of Type 1.5 ( a theoretical blending of Type 2 and Type 1- someone who has both, and medical professionals do not agree on whether it is actually a separate Type or not... thus the controversy.) But the idea that Dimitri, with Type 1, would be just fine eating only veggie airline meals is false. Many veggies have carbohydrates in them... the mashed potatoes for example... carbohydrate and fiber. Even the broccoli has a small amount of carbohydrate in it, though not much. Check for a list of "Free Foods" on a current American Diabetes Association menu. Free Foods can be eaten in certain amounts, with no impact on blood glucose levels, or very minimal impact on blood glucose levels. I'm sorry, I am passionate about this, because the misinformation about the disease is rampant , still, globally. And Diabetes education is overlooked or bypassed at an alarming rate, when people are diagnosed with the disease. Doctors tell their patients "You have Diabetes" and sometimes don;t tell the patient if it is Type 1, Type , Gestational, or otherwise. Which is why pencil-pushers at health insurance companies have no understanding how limiting coverage for medications, blood glucose testing supplies, and diagnostic tests affect some people who actually have the disease. It's a disgusting failure of the healthcare industry, worldwide, but especially in the US, a First World Country, that has the funds and means to do better. If Big Pharma profit was taken out of the equation. And yes, if my blood glucose levels are 3 times over normal, I DO notice it. I have symptoms of it, very clear to me, and clear to any who know what to look for. In my case, I am asymptomatic when it comes to hypoglycemia. I do not get the "normal" headache, dizziness, confusion- until right before I fall down and have a Grand-Mal seizure. But if my glucose goes high? I get the furry white tongue from the dehydration it brings on, I get the Juicy-Fruit gum smelling breath, just before or as soon as my body begins producing ketones. I need to pee a lot. I will be sick to my stomach, and constantly thirsty. But it is different for each person. My symptoms are different than Joe's, or Jane's, or Morty's, or Pinky's. And over time, my symptoms, complications, and presentation of the disease has changed. And likely will continue to change as i age further. it is not a static disease. It is one that simply can be controlled, well, not so well, or not at all, depending on the patient, the doctors, the education, and the drive and willingness to do whatever it takes to control it. And even then, best efforts can still fail. Diabetes is not a one-size-fits-all disease, and people need to stop seeing it as such, and treating it as such. 🤬 </RantOver>
  7. You are most welcome! I know to some it may be a "little thing", but I was thrilled to see it fixed up.
  8. Yes. The head gear slots were corrected with 1.60. Outer layer is now to the outside. I took this screenshot on October 26, Saturday (EST), when I saw that Balaclavas now go only in the inner layer/inner slot.
  9. Just click the piece you want to eat once, it will be shown on the right hand side, and then click the [Eat] button at the bottom. Same 2 clicks, and the large image will help to make u sure you don't accidentally eat raw meat by double-clicking the wrong thing. In Inventory raw and cooked can look really similar at times.
  10. Jeez, both of you, please_just_stop. Half this thread is now a back and forth bickering contest.
  11. You do know we already have "CUSTOM", right? Custom Settings Toolbox... lets you adjust 57 different settings, to customized your game to fit what you want to experience, though it does not let us change baked-in-under-the-hood settings. Some really good player-made challenges have been created using Custom Settings, with the share codes (that can be plugged in using the Toolbox) to let anyone try the game on the same settings, exactly. A few threads with lists of the player-made challenges and their share codes here on the online forums, as well as on the Steam forums.Want colder weather, but more loot, with animals spawning less frequently over time, wolves being passive instead of aggressive... you can do that. Want vanilla Interloper but, with a rifle available? You can do that too. Want Pilgrim everything except weather set to Interloper levels? You can do that. Not a feature I use often, but there are times that I do find it fun to set things somewhat randomly, just to see what happens. And the game really does not have "difficulty" settings. They are called "Experience Modes", because Hinterland is trying to create an experience for us, not a linear difficulty progression lie most typical aRPGs/RPGs. Which comes back around to the Custom Settings Toolbox... which lets you craft your own experience. And yes, I snipped the quote, so my response would clearly be shown to be a direct response to that singular point.
  12. Yeah, I have had some other games crashing on me that have Steam DRM, so I have to use Steam to launch them, crashing as well. Games that never crashed on me before, games that do not require huge amounts of resources on my PC. Which is why I am suspecting the memory leak present in the new Steam UI/Client version may be playing a part in this. Or some other thing that the new UI/Client version has going on. A good number of threads on the Community Steam Discussions (Both Stable Client discussions and Steam Client Beta discussions, from people reporting Steam Client crashing and craching their games, or causing issues with how some run, that they have never seen before.) As far as console version, I only have the game on XBox One (X) and on Steam. And only the Steam version is affected. Game runs like silk on XBox One X for me and my family. But crashes for all of us when using Steam to launch it. I have Windows 10, and the XBox One Play Anywhere works without issue as well. But there are many different possibly causes for crashes or stuttering or fps spikes. I am just interested in narrowing things down, and trying to rule out or in, that Steam Client is possibly one of the causes for some people playing on a computer. I have a fairly beefy rig now, bought a new high-end gaming PC, and the problems for me with the Steam copy of the game only started when the new UI and Client version was pushed on us.
  13. Test if the game crashes with Steam Client not running at all. Close Steam. Go into the local game files folder, and launch the game from the tld.exe file. No Steam needed. The game is DRM free. The game will launch on your desktop. See if it runs better, or if the same thing happens. Not just disabling stuff in Steam, but taking Steam out of the picture altogether. (And your Feats and Steam Achievements will update on Steam the next time you launch the game with Steam running, the game saves locally, always, Steam only gives you the option for cloud saves and Steam overlay... so yeah, steam screenshots won't be there.) But it is the only way to test if it is the game that is broken, ir if Steam Client is what is causing the issues.
  14. Didn't have this issue until Steam pushed the new Library UI and Steam Client version on us. And I cannot say it is only tied to entering or exiting a building, this happens to me at seemingly random times, including just traveling in the open world. Game runs fine, no issues on XBox One x copy, HDR on. Game runs fine offline, launched from local files or desktop shortcut, Steam Client not running. Steady and smooth, game loads quickly, loading screens pass quickly, 144 fps, steady, no hitching, no stutters. Launched from within the Steam Client... game stutters, hitches, loads slowly, loading screens take much longer to pass. Steam Client stops responding, the game and my entire computer becomes locked up, Task Manager still works, I have to kill Steam Client and the game to make my PC responsive again. I do have Steam Cloud saves enabled (though I could swear I disabled them months ago...) Curious how many people in this thread are also having this issue when launching the game through Steam Client? And if you have the same issue if you shut down Steam Client, and launch the game from the desktop, in offline mode, without Steam Client running?
  15. Yeah, like I said it was a quick test (with many restarts to get a rifle close to a place I knew a gunrack was), so I can't speak to other locations in the world being affected. I did also find I could not place the rifle horizontally on the sofa, and the table next to the sofa would only allow me to place it to the very back, against the wall. Placing it on the floor was no problem, though.
  16. I did a quick Pilgrim test run, and submitted one, with a few debug screenshots. Multiple reports of this on the Steam forums as well, hopefully some of those folks also submitted reports. I only tested one location, Milton House in Mountain Town. The rifle sinks through the rack, and the fireplace wall, multiple angles and approaches tried, without success.
  17. Absolutely loving each and every entry. Well done, everyone.
  18. I had A lost & Found inside QGS and one outside QGS, on an old save. I would have fallen out of my chair if I found them stuffed with all of that. That's amazing, lol.
  19. Pre-apocalypse Great Bear Island.
  20. Lol! I had to laugh at one Lost & Found I had in CH... like 18 stones in it. I don;t generally throw stones at bunnies, but it was an old save. I have to guess some of the stones were ones I used in deterring wolves, not just bunnies, and never picked up after chucking them at wolves and running like heck. I took everything else out of the red box, and left the stones there.
  21. Also can't see a reason to change this. The game has us make do with what we find, and make improvised solutions to problems. Bandages made from bits of old shirts, hats, pants, ect. makes sense, and works well. OMBL made into a wrap that helps prevent infections works. Antiseptic (hydrogen peroxide) used to clean wounds and help prevent infections works well, and comes at a cost of carrying a weighty item with you. IRL, if you were stuck in the middle of nowhere, on an abandoned island, with limited supplies, I doubt you would be fretting too much over needing to reuse a cloth bandage that you might scrub some of the crud out of in the snow, then reapplying it. The mechanic is not broken, it does not need fixed.
  22. Welcome to the forums! And Wow! Those are o some great photographs! Glad you found your way here.
  23. Nah, I stopped hoarding sticks like that 2 years ago, maybe? But I still have a habit of carrying 20 sticks and enough cloth to make a snow shelter in an emergency. But I'll grab sticks while I am out moving around, and stop at 50 in inventory. I need to stop at 40, so I can still sprint. Should make Stalker a little less hairy, lol.
  24. Awesome! How did I not know that you would know the exact numbers? So, most likely I am hoarding sticks too much as I go, and dropping 2 darn sticks would let me sprint again. I really, really have to stop obsessively grabbing sticks.
