Sorry Sysghost (I really like your thread of shots btw!)- more aurora pics, I've not noticed the red mountain effect before:

Don't sweat it. 😃
While others provide stunning aurora shots, I try to stand out from the bunch. Besides. I *might* have a few of em too. As said earlier I will not provide them on a regular basis though.

I've been hanging out at Angler's for the last 22 days; that's how long it took for my survivor to heal all four of the broken ribs he got from the moose. I've been wandering around knocking between the Bitter Marsh and Anglers. It should be possible to survive here for a long long time overall, but it'll be rough. There's a super-productive rabbit grove and the occasional deer shows up, and the fishing hut in the Bitter Marsh has been invaluable while my guy's been recovering. The Narrow Falls Cave is a good spot, well away from predators and quite pretty, which is good wrt cabin fever.

I was in there the other night for just that reason (all those hours passing time and sleeping in Angler's tipped me over the edge) and after a couple nights in there I took some shots of my walk back to Anglers, and did a little circumbobulation around the island that Angler's is on and took some screenies. When I exited the cave it was snowing quite heavily but by the time I got back to the cabin it was clearing up.

Looking back towards the Narrow Falls:

Looking across the river towards the burned-out forest around Anglers from the waterfall at the Narrow Falls exit:

Went around the back end of the island to see if I could find a fir limb (nope, because fy that's why) and looked up towards Wolf Overlook:

The clouds and snow just wiped themselves away right after this shot; by the time I rolled around to change my angle it went from grey to blue:

nothing like the smell of sizzling steaks on the fire and the aroma of hot peaches in syrup
along with pork n beans and some delicious tomato soup

you can see the steam rising from the cans as the reflective heat from the fire slowly but surely heats the cans

but don't take your eyes off the prize by getting to distracted doing other things...

the black acrid smoke of burnt peaches and scorched beans and tomato soup is enough to make
your eyes burn as you rush to open the doors in order to air out the house.  screen_3536682e-83c3-441f-90f9-fea01b1fb609_hi.thumb.png.c56241a394a67288aadc7b82385a41b8.png

probably a good thing the smoke detectors dont work anymore, the noise would have been deafening...
