  1. Thank you! I am actually using the two fires trick at mountaineers hut to cook faster. Re: the bear, I will try that because my bear bedroll is taking some mileage with my current trip. Unfortunately, no doors at TWM fishing hut and no cars. Maybe I travel to coastal highway for a safer bear kill and stay there for vacation until pelt cures.
  2. Wow, so that one was a handful. I studied the maps and figured I should be able to make the trip in a few days from the mountaineers hut to the summit by taking the right side of the region, adjacent to ash canyon. I think that is the only way to the summit due to absence of climbing ropes deployed. First day wasn't bad actually. I grabbed some supplies, tools and went! Once I got to the wing area, I found some birch sticks that I decided I'd like to take back and while I was there, I also hacksawed open one container, which had some soda(and food I think). Also bear showed up and a couple wolves patrolled the area. They all were too busy hunting deer. I had to bait one though when he spotted me and started approaching. I dropped my lunch and backed away. He ate it and went onto his business. I left some stuff and went home. Rested up, grabbed food and went to continue my journey. Made to ash canyon first entrance by the tree not bad. Then made it to the second ash canyon entrance(cave). Since I was there and enough stock for a side trip, I decided to divert and go to ash canyon to grab backpack and crampons. I left my climbing ropes(2) and some important stuff in the cave near deer clearing and went into ash canyon. Long story short, it was some scary desolate burned down terrain, but I didn't encounter a lot of difficulty and made it to a gold mine for the backpack. Got hurt a little coming down steep one way slide, but it wasn't bad. Got the supplies and let the barrel fire burning through the night as I was resting and drying from freezing water. Next morning, time to leave. It was also pretty straightforward, as I didn't take any detours. Only to the goldmine and back. I will return to ash canyon one day for a full on exploration. As a side note, I must say, bear bedroll is worth every bullet I fed that bear and then some!! Ash canyon was freezing and I was able to sleep in the narrow pass without fire, taking 4 hour naps and adjusting to stay out of wind! What a literal lifesaver! Thank you bears!! Okay, back to the trip... As I got to the transition cave, game saved and I went to eat. When i came back, i loaded everything up, but as I exited the cave, I couldn't for the love of me find the deer clearing!! I was walking back and forth maybe 4 times looking at every crevice, but terrain was completely unfamiliar to me!! WHAT HAPPENED??! I couldn't continue my trip because I had no clue what was happening and I needed all my stuff!! What I didn't realize, I was exiting on the ash canyon side and didn't notice it!! Aghh, once I made it into the timberwolf mountain side of the cave, I was crying with joy, although I was getting short on supplies, so I tried to kill a deer, but a wolf killed him, and then I killed the wolf. Got food and two skins. Thank you nature. One day I will be back to this cave. So, once I got food matter settled, it was time to head for the summit. Grabbed my climbing ropes, other stuff, some food and went out. This is where it got tricky. I walked in circles so many time I can't even count!! I had to call off my trip maybe two or three times because I couldn't find the right location to get to the summit. Then miraculously, I ended up at the secluded shelf rope climb. Fine, this is where I'll go because I checked the map and there was a cave, leading to another side of the summit, which I could use to approach the summit, albeit from opposite side. Then the cave. Oh, that one ate through my torches and I didn't have any left!! Had to use a flare I found in that cave to finally find the way. As i was getting closer and closer to my target, I began to be increasingly worried as I left my hacksaw on the crate by the wing at the beginning of my journey and didn't find any replacement thus far! That's also Tue reason I spent a lot of time in that cave. Without luck, I proceeded to the final climbs. I got to the summit and got into a cave, left my increasingly sparse supplies and went to the tail section in Hope's of finding the HACKSAW!!!😫 I broke every crate by hand and turned everything upside down, but i didn't find any!! I was back maybe two more times in desperation trying to look for it! All the supplies must be there, but no way to get to them!! Also, I was running short on food! We almost cried(me and astrid). Then I finally spot the hacksaw!!!!!!! I almost cried out of joy! I started opening one by one!! Bandages, clothes, food drinks, tools, even rifle and ammo and cleaning kits!! More food and clothes!!😢tears of joy!!!! This is where I ended at the moment. I was actually looking down from the plane and could see my hut. I was so devastated that all this time and I can't even open a single container...it was heartbreaking!! I am glad I looked again and again and actually found the saw..:)
  3. Fascinating! Thank you! I think I may have noticed the first one! Second looks interesting! I should observe! Usually skin and gut I take because both can be used for crafting, but meat I stay away from because parasite risk. Third one hmm, does a bear respawn too? Because that's the one I'm most concerned with, but sounds pretty neat. Next time I get unfortunate enough to be stuck outside during blizzard in known location, I will try!
  4. You can use them 20 times and drop them somewhere:) problem solved!
  5. Thank you @Bean, I decided to go back last night (to coastal highway) and grab some extra supplies(heavy hammer to break fishing hole and prybar and revolver and my arrow heads). Using hatchet to break fishing hole uses like 5%😫only did it once and decided it is not going to cut it(pun). I actually really like TWM at the moment! Feels so isolated and tense and that little hut by the lake is fantastic! I actually like the absence of loading screen! It is colder though and save occurs after I sleep only, so I have to take a nap if i want to end playing for the day. Hoping to get a lot of fantastic screengrabs! PS -really loving that F10 key! It renders screenshot in 2160p and no UI!:) what a great idea!
  6. Speaking of horror movies, I was traveling to my next region at night during an aurora because I couldn't make desired time and I saw a wolf with glowing eyes. Haven't seen one yet because I like to travel during day and that growl and those eyes and that aurora music, now THAT IS TERRIFYING!!😬😵Thank you Hinterland! Also I had to pass through bear territory. Do you know how high i jumped when my dog growled at the toy behind me as I was sitting in a chair all tense?
  7. Now that would be dandy! I really wish pelts and hides were used for more things, but I am sure they will add them in later updates. It's a work in progress. Also don't be sad about certain limitations. I am sure they are doing the best they can with the engine. Many other games also have certain shortcomings.. Cheers:)
  8. I am actually heading towards ash canyon via timberwolf mountain. Just arrived from pleasant valley. It was a long trip from coastal highway. Got bit by wolf one time and killed wolf second time during aurora. Creepiest glowing eyes, but I fed him lead like a champ:) Hopefully I like what I see and this won't be my tomb! Pic from in-game last night: Edit: AGHH!!! I forgot arrow heads back in coastal highway😫
  9. Desolation point | THE RIKKEN I had a lot of scrap metal and a lot of coal. All my health meters were full(health, food, water, stamina). I fired up the furnace and filled with coal to last maximum time(12hrs?). Once temperature reached above 270°F, I clicked on furnace and chose to craft 54 arrow heads. Yes, 54 all in one go. I clicked begin crafting! During the crafting period, all my circles went red and health began to decrease! What's more interesting is the furnace also burned out, but Astrid kept on crafting! I was able to successfully craft everything, but barely left alive. I didn't complain, but was rather glad! I did not try stopping the crafting process. Same thing happens when I decided to craft 18 arrows in one go! Astrid kept on working all day and into the night! Makes me wonder if this should be happening? Usually when I research a book and too tired or hungry or too dark, process gets interrupted. Side note: something funny happened. As I'm crafting, time is in fast forward and I see bear gallop on the background as I'm crafting away behind the hut at fisherman village in coastal highway😂hilarious yet terrifying!! From now on, I crouch behind a table so he doesn't accidentally see me!🤣
  10. That makes sense. Ps-we actually have models of the players. The cutscenes in the garage show will and astrid in third person. It looks like in game generated cutscene too.
  11. Well, maybe bear attacks are also hard to survive in real life? I haven't been mauled down by a bear. Maybe a rifle should be able to do more damage than it does? Either way, I'm not an expert on this topic, but I am sure hinterland did a lot more research than most of us.
  12. I want my hatchet(s) to last very long, so I break them down with hands. It is also useful to keep fire going only as long as needed for cooking because sticks add fire time in smaller increments. How much damage does hatchet take to break down cedar or fir limb? I'm thinking of doing that occasionally.
  13. Maybe if they set up "list type" UI that will or astrid create and then you click on it, circle loading icon appears while packing is done.
  14. Когда тебя укусила собака или ты отравился, там пишется в меню чем лечится. Таким образом быстро усваивается что к чему.
  15. Agreed! Switching to third person view would be phenomenal! You can watch wolves eat rabbit and deer; why not dead player? It would make for one satisfying ending:)

    A Dog

Yes, probably one dog is fine. Don't need too many, this isn't a farm.
  17. I agree with @Sherlock Holmes 18. It is way too tedious to catch rabbit using stone stun method.(but it is quite rewarding if you can master it). I did catch one rabbit in wintermute first episode when you *had* to and while it felt very rewarding when it worked, I could never make myself do it again. What I do is when I get guts and reclaimed wood, I make about 6 shares and set them up where I see rabbit. After that, it is all sustainable rinse and repeat. You will also have endless supply of skin for mittens and hat! PS- i wish you could craft something else out of rabbit skin. They have so little meat so you end up catching a lot and you always have a stockpile of fur that otherwise goes unused. Please add like rabbit earmuffs or rabbit jacket or whatever!!👍
  18. I think I see what the problem is.🙄sorry friend, dobt take it in the wrong way, but if you want difficulty, you don't reload a save(by choice) when something goes wrong. You press on.
  19. I just had a lovely trip into desolation point!! What a drag!! I had so much trouble with wolves and I consider myself a newbie expert on these dogs!! First deer runs off with my arrow in his foot, never to be found because all blood tracks intersected to hell because I also shot a wolf that ran off. Then I went to the Ripken to make some arrows and turns out, whatever coal was left over doesn't bring furnace to 270°F.🙄🙄🙄😒trip to the mines it is. On my way there, another wolf, then a bear. I dodged them like ace, but getting to the mine, I wasn't sure I got enough coal, so I had to sleep in there for a while so coal respawn again. Anyways, got my furnace fired up and I was so mad that i ended up doing 52 arrow heads in one go! Not sure how that happened, but i couldn't hear furnace anymore, starving, exhausted and hungry to the point my health bar was shrinking, but Astrid kept on chugging!! Must be a bug. I was glad though. 52 heads all at once?!!🤗 And with all this, I haven't even gotten to explore the whale warehouses yet and those other buildings. Just trying to survive at the lighthouse. What a depressing place it is. I can see why no one likes it.😒
  20. Good afternoon! This photo makes me want to stay home and not stick my nose out. I left pleasant valley not very long ago, by the way:) great capturr! @upnorth+1
  21. Oops, my apologies, I think it was 80 pounds. I am playing with imperial system, not metric.
  22. What would be scary if animals became self aware and knew how to trick us next time they see us do the same thing. Speaking of... [funny story coming up] last time I dropped bait, wolf lost scent of me and went onto his business as usual, leaving me and meat alone. This time however, I dropped meat and slowly backed away. He walked to the bait and bait disappeared!! He ate it I think!! Sacrificial offering for my life(or the revolver bullet)😏
