  1. That little sneaky link was actually a pretty good read. Thank you.
  2. I walked to a sleeping bear thinking it was one that I shot (this was the next day) i went to harvest the hide. He wasnt happy about that. I learned to waste a second shot on a "sleeping bear"
  3. You know it. Does anyone else look at cardboard boxes IRL and think, If i destroy that, is there something good under it.
  4. Not really sure what its name was, but its dead now. and I have a nice new rifle.
  5. I had an identical issue with the farmhouse a few days ago. Pitch black inside, peak sun. I left for the day and came back and it was back to normal.
  6. Having followed a few post/replies from Manic, i know that the overall response to suggestions like this is "Lets try to keep the game as real as possible". I agree. I will say it gets very loud in the wind and near the waterfalls, BUT thats how life goes right.
  7. There is a post going on over in the "Survival" section of the forums regarding access to the Milling machine/ammo bench. Everyone seems to be in agreement that the first time you have to get across, its not too bad (and kind of a fun little obstacle course). But is there any way a climbing Point could be added to the other side of the pier, so that after we do it once, if we have a rope, we can easily place it...so that we dont have to do the grind EVERY time. (I must be on my 20th time through in the 260 day stint i currently have going)
  8. 100% yes, please, for the love of all that is good and holy, do this. Actually, i'm going to make a suggestion in the wish list section.
  9. I like all of those ideas. The changes would be very programming heavy, so I imagine some of that would have to wait for the next game release (we are still waiting on episode 4 and 5 for this one). I really like the idea of dragging carcasses or heavier items. And the rope idea is great, it would give a reason to carry that heavy mountaineer rope with you.
  10. Been there. I learned pretty quickly how fast the weather can change in pleasant valley. It can be brutally cold, windy, blizzard, and then calm in a matter of hours. I never sleep in a car. Too much risk. I try to find loose sticks and a windproof area. Not always easy in a blizzard. My worst death was climbing, not realizing I didnt have enough energy to make it. Rough way to go.
  11. I wouldn't mind co-op play. Although I enjoy the serenity of feeling by myself. It would be cool to have a hunting partner, but if something like this would be added, I'de like to see ZERO increase in resources available. I think if you are trying to survive as a team and need to share/ration/barter...that could be a challenge. Do you give your friend that 100% hatchet you crafted, or do you ask for something in return. One person could be in charge of hunting, the other crafting. i dont know, it could be sweet.
  12. oh man, yeah, makes a lot of places better too survive in for sure!
  13. since finding this out, i've found some loot on ledges too. pretty nice.
  14. So many Ravine stories my personally store was climbing to the radio tower At Pleasant Valley. Dropped like a stone, used an emergency stim, a couple bandages some pain meds and made it halfway to the farmhouse and bled out right around where the bear could eat me. wish i could have fired 1 last round into the bear before dying, but my wrists were "sprained"
  15. I will take the rifle with me when travelling map to map, but i always leave it at the new maps "base". It is TOO HEAVY. My bow skills have gotten way better since letting go of the rifle and pistol. I've gotten confident enough to position myself for bear & moose kills now. I really need to learn to NOT be on their level. Get up on a rock or branch, and be patient.
  16. Responding to the original post: 1. I don't have any issues with the sight. But I also do not own a rifle IRL. I could see how that may be annoying to someone with experience. 2. the visible round without ammo bothers me, but I agree with Manic that it really doesnt "break" anything. (but fixing it may break something) 3. reload is slow on purpose i assume. its kind of a give and take for the extra power (and creates a "make sure you land your shot" situation)

    Fishing

I would be 100% on board with passive fishing. Would be nice to set 1 up in all of the fishing huts on coastal Highway & Mystery lake. Could have food caught while your crafting or exploring.
  18. Having watched some friends go through a weekend of stomach issue from drinking from a "waterfall" (more like a mountain stream trickle), I'd say a fire is still needed. BUT, the risk is worth it if you are : near a water source, dying of thirst, and cant get to sticks (you know, because a bear has you pinned between a stream and a hard place.
  19. Rock caches on Hushed River helped TONS. Now i get quick inventory management in a cave (and I can remove it and rebuild when i move around)
  20. I agree with the OP 100%. I've done the "obstacle course" about 20 times now. and each time i think, why not just let me push a plank over to connect the pier ... or at least let me drop a rope 2 feet down onto the ice. (or better yet, let me "climb" onto the, obviously reachable, pier with my normal reach. We have to make this happen Hinterland .... and by we i mean you.
  21. Its a game changer! i also just found out that you can cook "ruined" raw meat up to 50% : I'm 256 days into my second survival
  22. I use spray cans for any area i set a snare, building that contain loot that i want to come back for, any cave i use as a base (or i'll let a rock cache mark it). etc etc. I feel based on how quickly i use them, there just enough to make sense. I dont over do it, but i also wont be marking walking paths with tinder plugs (I dont have time for that)
  23. I cant wait for ep. 4. But, waiting had made me dive into survival mode which I love. I just unlocked faithful cartographer, and I'm level 5 in everything except mending and fishing. I'll tackle some challenges next.
  24. I came here wondering if I could use a stim to make a BIG climb, and a reply mentioned stopping on ledges. I immediately tried it. Game changer. (And I'm 250 days into round 2 of survival) my first death was falling from a climb .
  25. This game is beautiful. Mystery lake Aurora Mystery Lake morning Hushed river valley sunrise
