  1. Thanks for the information.. I did camp out and wait for the moose... in this case it came back in 3 days and I got him for my first ever moose kill.... Moose Satchel here I come. I wasn't going to camp out long though because I was nearing my transition time to move on to another region.
  2. How often do moose spawn in a particular location? Came upon one while exploring Milton Basin but I took too long preparing myself to down him that he left.. now I'm camping out awaiting his return. How long will I have to wait?
  3. Question: do items disappear outside if left for too long before recovering?.. in this case I shot an arrow at a wolf downing some deer meat but I missed because I suck with the bow... but I forgot to recover the arrow. After maybe 5 days or so I had time to kill so I went to recover the arrow but could not find it. Drives me nuts because I didn't want to lose the arrowhead.
  4. I agree that the wolves are annoying and make it hard for exploration sometimes and sometimes they are just always "guarding" where you need to go.. but it's their turf and not ours. We have to adapt to living amongst the wolves which I agree can be difficult sometimes... but that's the challenge.
  5. First run through Winter's Embrace put me in Pleasant Valley.. I always do random placements when starting a new survival sandbox. Needless to say.. but it was a harsh first couple of days trying to stay warm... now that I am though it's going to be a fun experience.
  6. Do you have to start a new save to experience event.. or will these items spawn in current save?

    Repelling

I didn't really peruse all the topics so I don't know if this has been suggested before.. but maybe a repelling down into areas like underground caves or something. There's a certain exploration and survival aspect to this that would be interesting. You would have to make sure you could descend down.. obviously not being encumbered like with climbs now. Also.. making sure you could get back up. You would have to make choices as far as what you could bring with you to explore and scavenge and what you brought back from said underground caves making sure you're not carrying too much. Maybe even setting up the anchor point could be implemented.. like utilizing a heavy hammer or some other type of tool to drive a metal stake of some sort that you had to forge with scrap metal. That could make the whole mechanic an overall satisfying experience when you have to work it out to where you are able to repel at all. What say you?
  8. Whoa.. thank you for the explanation @ajb1978 of the 4 Days of Night event. I would be more inclined to have it occur during a survival experience rather than starting a new one.. but cool nonetheless.
  9. Super excited.. will be my first event since playing The Long Dark... I missed out on the 4 Days of Night event. Can anyone tell me what was cool and different about that event?
  10. I will have to try this next time I play.. seems realistic enough... I am curious too what it means for opening the cans.
  11. Yeah.. pretty cool sight to see... if you get close enough you can hear him breathing and even see his middle section moving in and out to show that in fact this bear is alive and breathing.... weigh your risk/reward carefully..... it could mean the end of you. Thank God I had full condition and bandages and antiseptic. It was a heart pounding journey home which was a long way off. Any other encounter with wildlife would've been the end of me for sure.
  12. I shot a sleeping bear in his den and he ran off.. so I thought... okay he's going to die eventually. Well the weather quickly turned bad after shooting him so I didn't have the time to track him down.. so I hightailed it back to the garage which was a journey from my location. I went back the following day to track this bear down and returned to the scene to find another bear sleeping in the den.. or so I thought. It was the same bear. I hit him the first time.. the day before... hit him a second time.... the next day..... and missed the third time...... which almost cost me my life. Lesson learned. That's what I love about this game. Learning to survive.
  13. I had some cups of tea sitting on a desk next to a fire barrel in Quonset Garage and I kept hearing this bubbling noise even though nothing was on the fire.. come to find out those cups were warming up on the desk. Very cool. Didn't know this was an aspect of the cooking machine.
  14. Came upon a sleeping bear in Coastal Highway.. had never seen this before. Couldn't even kill it though.. almost died after missing my second shot. Very cool though.
  15. Long time player.. new to the forums... lots of helpful information and perspectives. Thank you everybody.
