  1. I have only had a wolf follow me into a cave a few time and they didn't run away. I think the intended effect is that they will follow you. Maybe you got lucky with the scares in the past? There is a small chance they will run away from you any time they approach. Also, did you have a fire going any of the other times?
  2. If the Solar activity is anything on the level of 1859 the Carrington Flare, where telegraph wires burst into flames, and I think it is. I think it would be safe to say that the power line from the solar panels into the house were fried.
  3. If this is the case then the Wool Ear Wrap should provide the best protection! Being more rare it would then have more uses.
  4. @DerpyLemon115, I am really enjoying this story. I love how it has a narrative feel like it is an actual story of a person trying to survive placed in the long dark instead of like someone playing a game. Keep it coming I am hooked!
  5. Does that preserve its condition percent, so it stay at that percent until it is picked up @Doc Feral?
  6. The best way to store meat is in the snow and save it until you need to eat it, then cook what you need, unless your low on matches. Meat can sit at 0% in the snow and then be cooked back up to 50%. Also when you get to cooking level 5 you will not get sick from eating meat at 50% too, so it is a good long term strategy.
  7. I have had that problem with other games and fixed it by updating my audio drivers in the past. I would recommend trying that and if not I would report it.
  8. From what I recall when I did this challenge a year or so ago. You have to tag the bear at each location then it runs off, similar to the pre-Redux way to in the story. But I do recall having some trouble tagging the bear successfully. I will try it again sometime in the next few days see what I get too.
  9. I get the feeling that Mathis is one who doesn't tell truth to get what he wants. Which made me rethink a lot of stuff as we are all assuming that all the information that is being told to us is the truth and no one is lying to us, especially made me rethink what Hobbs said too. I figured, and this is speculation, that if Mathis was lying that it wouldn't take too long for a perceptive person to see Will's ring and assume he was looking for his wife and leverage that against him.
  10. Yeah! Almost looks like the Easter Islands head stones. The geomagnetic event really must of messed with things...
  11. So I started my first game since Ranger came out and in it I experienced a first for me. Falling off a climbing rope near the top... Let me explain. I started a Custom mode, a mix of Interloper weather with Stalker animal settings minus having less wolves like in Interloper and Stalker loot levels. I started near the pleasant valley Aspen forest and looted the barn, the farm house, and the weather station. I got responsibly geared with a, Hacksaw, Hatchet, Crowbar, and very lucky with clothing finding a fisherman pea, hoodie, 2x pairs of thermal underwear, down vest, climbing socks, baseball cap, improvised cloth hat, work gloves, and Mukluk boots, but no Bed Roll. With all this in mind and a couple days worth of food, I said YOLO and went to summit TWM straight away. Made it there easily by day 3 and started my climb. I take the long way around the right side of map as I am the most comfortable going that way. I slept at the Mountaineers Hut and left in the AM. Climbed the first rope and ducked into the near by cave to warm up, rest in a snow shelter, and drink some warm coffee before leaving again. I made my long trek to the next rope before the transition cave to the other side of the mountain and this is were I made a gamble, as I wanted to take a warming break in the cave; as I was already beginning Hypothermia risk. I drank the reaming 2 coffees I had and attempted the climb. I almost crested the top of the climbing rope but slipped down catching myself. I tried one last time, slipped... and fell. I came to at the bottom of the rope with somewhere around 5% condition, I honestly didn't look as I was in crisis mode, I used an emergency stim. I quickly bandaged up run back a ways to flat land to check where I can place a snow shelter, started a fire with accelerate and all the wood I had, totaling 8h of fire time. I then started constructing a snow shelter to sleep in. I managed to complete with 2% condition left and get inside and sleep with 1%. I awoke with about 45% condition. I quickly made it up the rope this time and into the cave, up the big rope to the summit where I made it in the plane with about 18% condition and started a fire and looted the whole place, while making more coffee and drinking about 4 as I made them. Managed to get to about feels like -3 C with all the good gear and descended to the Hut on the left side now goating my way down following the river, and of course in a head wind. Made it to the Hut and drank a Herbal Tea and some Birch Bark Tea and went to bed, surviving the summiting of TWM on Day 4. That had to be my most harrowing and fun time summiting TWM

  13. My first Interloper run on the second day, I was taking the double rope climb up to Skeeter's Ridge. I made it to the top of the second rope and crested the snow bank to get out of the narrow ledge area and into the open area of the ridge and what was waiting for me... a silent wolf. We met almost face to face, no time to drop the rabbit I had as a decoy it was over then and there.
  14. FM use to be my least favorite region, but as I explored it more, found the safe paths on the ice and when it got that connection to MT, BR became my new least favorite region. Mostly because there is only one path out of the region and it is narrow and always has wolves. I usually take one trip out to there and loot the Garage and Hunting Lodge then never come back.
  15. Awesome job! Glad you finally downed him! You going to make the satchel now?
  16. For the 3 times I have downed a Moose it took, 5 Rifle shots (All body shots), 3 Rifle shots (One to head, the rest to body), and 3 bow shots (All body shots). In all of these cases it wasn't all at once, I got to a safe spot where the Moose couldn't get to and fired a shot or two then wait for him to calm down and got into position again. These kills are from before Steadfast Ranger though. I do believe you can down a Moose in one shot, I have seen it from Streams of the people playing the game, although that is usually a result of a critical hit.
  17. @Muestereate The Moose is the only Animal in game that does not bleed out. You have to take it out by hitting it until it drops. I would assume it would take a lot of shots from the Revolver to down, although that many shots with the Revolver does seems excessive.
  18. This could be a good Milton Mailbag question for Ralph to answer in his next. I would love to hear what he has to say about it.
  19. I have notice the same thing Doc Feral had said. They do calm down after awhile. I use to waste more arrows into them but now I just give it the time it needs. One good shot that lands and just wait awhile and the bear will die. I do recall that they did flee more before the redux but I also only killed a handful of bears before the redux so I don't have a large sample of kill to really go by.
  20. Raphael had talked about in Milton Mailbag #23 that the team had discussed smokers and smoking meat and also said they might implement it this year. So I am hopeful for that
  21. I lived in Cleveland in college. I drove the shore way, what we called the highway along the lake, everyday. You would even see this on fences, rocks and sometimes cars of people who left their cars at the parks at the shore overnight! It was always a cool sight. This only usually happened early in the winter, later on the coastal waters had froze for a mile or so out kind of like the water in CH.
  22. Silent wolfs just over the next side of that hill.
  23. I am probably an odd ball on 1 for this but... 1. I like to listen to talk radio, audio books, or audio dramas, as long as I am not hunting, then it is just game music. 2. Wish 1: More regions to explore Wish 2: More animals or unique animals Wish 3: Wish 1

    Snowballs

Altho I agree it has little value I was thinking it could be a fun activity to stave off Cabin Fever, maybe staves off a little more then just being outside in general?
