  1. So I started my first game since Ranger came out and in it I experienced a first for me. Falling off a climbing rope near the top...

Let me explain. I started a Custom mode, a mix of Interloper weather with Stalker animal settings minus having less wolves like in Interloper and Stalker loot levels. I started near the pleasant valley Aspen forest and looted the barn, the farm house, and the weather station. I got responsibly geared with a, Hacksaw, Hatchet, Crowbar, and very lucky with clothing finding a fishing sweater, hoodie, 2x pairs of thermal underwear, down vest, climbing socks, baseball cap, improvised cloth hat, work gloves, and Mukluk boots, but no Bed Roll. With all this in mind and a couple days worth of food, I said YOLO and went to summit TWM straight away. Made it there easily by day 3 and started my climb. I take the long way around the right side of map as I am the most comfortable going that way. I slept at the Mountaineers Hut and left in the AM. Climbed the first rope and ducked into the near by cave to warm up and drink some warm coffee before leaving again. I made my long trek to the next rope before the transition cave to the other side of the mountain and this is wear I made a gamble, as I wanted to rest in the cave. I drank the reaming 2 coffees I had and attempted the climb. I almost crested the top of the climbing rope but slipped down catching myself. I tried one last time, slipped... and fell. I came to at the bottom of the rope with somewhere around 5% condition, I honestly didn't look as I was in crisis mode, I use an emergency stim. I quickly bandaged up run back a ways to flat land to check where I can place a snow shelter, started a fire with accelerate and all the wood I had, totaling 8h of fire time. I then started constructing a snow shelter to sleep in. I managed to complete with 2% left and get inside and sleep with 1%. I awoke with about 45% condition. I quickly made it up the rope this time and into the cave, up the big rope to the summit where I made it in the plane with about 18% condition and started a fire and looted the whole place.

That had to be my most harrowing and fun time summiting TWM :)

  2. My first Interloper run on the second day, I was taking the double rope climb up to Skeeter's Ridge. I made it to the top of the second rope and crested the snow bank to get out of the narrow ledge area and into the open area of the ridge and what was waiting for me... a silent wolf. We met almost face to face, no time to drop the rabbit I had as a decoy it was over then and there.
  3. Awesome job! Glad you finally downed him! You going to make the satchel now?
  4. For the 3 times I have downed a Moose it took, 5 Rifle shots (All body shots), 3 Rifle shots (One to head, the rest to body), and 3 bow shots (All body shots). In all of these cases it wasn't all at once, I got to a safe spot where the Moose couldn't get to and fired a shot or two then wait for him to calm down and got into position again. These kills are from before Steadfast Ranger though. I do believe you can down a Moose in one shot, I have seen it from Streams of the people playing the game, although that is usually a result of a critical hit.
  5. @Muestereate The Moose is the only Animal in game that does not bleed out. You have to take it out by hitting it until it drops. I would assume it would take a lot of shots from the Revolver to down, although that many shots with the Revolver does seems excessive.
  6. This could be a good Milton Mailbag question for Ralph to answer in his next. I would love to hear what he has to say about it.
  7. I have notice the same thing Doc Feral had said. They do calm down after awhile. I use to waste more arrows into them but now I just give it the time it needs. One good shot that lands and just wait awhile and the bear will die. I do recall that they did flee more before the redux but I also only killed a handful of bears before the redux so I don't have a large sample of kill to really go by.
  8. Raphael had talked about in Milton Mailbag #23 that the team had discussed smokers and smoking meat and also said they might implement it this year. So I am hopeful for that
  9. I lived in Cleveland in college. I drove the shore way, what we called the highway along the lake, everyday. You would even see this on fences, rocks and sometimes cars of people who left their cars at the parks at the shore overnight! It was always a cool sight. This only usually happened early in the winter, later on the coastal waters had froze for a mile or so out kind of like the water in CH.
  10. I am probably an odd ball on 1 for this but... 1. I like to listen to talk radio, audio books, or audio dramas, as long as I am not hunting, then it is just game music. 2. Wish 1: More regions to explore Wish 2: More animals or unique animals Wish 3: Wish 1
  11. Altho I agree it has little value I was thinking it could be a fun activity to stave off Cabin Fever, maybe staves off a little more then just being outside in general?
  12. So just this past week I decided to try my hand at interloper as I was nearing my 100th day on a Stalker run. So my first run was 16h, spawn in PV which died to a wolf cresting a hill, no noise, as I was just about to crest it as well...

But second attempt is going well, even considering I spawned on TWM near dusk!

I spawned in a had to get my bearings as I was not 100% sure it was TWM, thought it might have been HRV. I figured out I was near the waterfall and climbing rope. So I gathered some sticks, until a wolf got too interested and climbed down the rope making my way to the Mountaineer's hut gathering more sticks along the way.

I make it to the Mountaineer's Hut, but not before find a wool toque in the fishing hut, find some matches logs, a vest, AND A HAMMER! So I throw down all my sticks and head over to the bunny grove nearby for dinner. Snag two bunnies and a bunch of sticks. By this point I also was in need of water so started a fire and made a ton of water and cooked up the bunnies. I knew the fire wouldn't last all night so I ventured out again in search of more sticks until I had enough for 8h of fire. I ate the food then went to bed.

    ----------

In the morning with some light snow I managed to make it down the mountain into PV as the wind was picking up. I make into the bunker and start looting as I hear a blizzard outside pick up. So I hunker down for a few hours, managing to repair the wool toque I found and gathering some tinder from the boxes. The blizzard ends up being about 6 hours, I sleep thru half of it. I venture out in the freezing night. I loot the Point of Disagreement to find nothing but a lone Chocolate bar. I then sprint as fast as I can, goating down part of a cliff, to the barn. I manage to make it inside and start a fire just before frost bite hits, saving me permanent condition loss. I warm by the fire and make more water and loot the building to find some driving gloves! Say goodbye to frost bite risk! I sleep thru the rest of the night.

    ----------

I head out to the farm stead in the morning and loot the basement and main house finding some more cloths and another hammer. I then hunt some more bunnies and repair some clothing I found from all the cloth in the house then eat and sleep.

    ----------

The next day I make it up to the signal hill and don't find anything of note. So I warm up in the bed for an hour and a blizzard hits... a bad one. I go back in but soon realized I am at around 40% condition and don't have food on me, I have to leave as if I stay I am dead. So I spirit out into the Blizzard and try to make it to the cave leading to the Carter Dam. To the amazement me to myself and my wife watching me, I make it to the cave! (I attribute the success to the Hunted Part 1 challenge and the dozen or so times I traveled this path) Inside, I carve some meat from the dear, warm up by a fire, cook the meat, and make my way to the dam. But encounter a wolf in the narrow part of the river right before it opens up by the dam. Luckily I had seen him from afar and had some gut on me, so dropped that and gave him some space and was on my way.

I looted the entire dam as night was setting in, using some torches I pulled from the fire in the cave. and sleep in a bed inside the trailers outside the dam.

    ----------

The next day I make my way to the camp office looting about 25 cat tails along the way, using the 'safe' route over the hills between the railway and small river that leads to the lake. I make it into the camp office and drop off all my stuff and organize everything I had looted along the way.

Cool! You have a very nice writing style. Glad to hear your current run is going well.

I admittedly have not played much Interloper for past few years. The only difference was me, trying to actually get some achievements going and since I didnt do a legimitate Interloper run with over a full day, I fired up a game as well.

Also got the TWM spawn. Altought unlike you, I decided to try my luck and after a short stay at Mountaineers, I decided to go loot some cargo containers.

I haven't played it yet since I got the achievement and saved a game by resting, but I plan to play it eventually. The run is going very well. Did not find the bedroll on the way, still was able to get all the way up to the final rope climb, because I was able to rest up by building a snow shelter. Got cloth for it by shredding some of my clothes (risky to walk around exposed, but Im guessing the top summit will have more and better clothing for me to use so it shouldn't be a long-term problem for me). Never got even close to summit on Interloper so far, curious how it will go.

But right now Im loving my Voyager achivement game too much to really play anything else.

Yeah I debated climbing trying to summit the mountain since I was there but without the gloves I was afraid of the frost bite :/. I didn't think about the other cargo containers tho those might of had some stuff in them to help me get up there!

  13. My two favorite items in game! Jerky and Coffee!
  14. Big Moose Kicks coffee, and some Dry and Salty Beef Jerky to start my day out right.
  15. I have lost a number of arrows to it being under the body. Have to make a mental note to go back after the carcass despawns. Sometimes if you crouch and look under you might be able to 'see it' with the cursor.
  16. Never eat Last Resort sardines under 80%.
  17. @Skitfaced I found out through some trial and error that the Brace mechanic with the Spear is tied to your stamina. So if you run to the spear and then immediately raise it won't last too long. If you raise the spear right as the bear is about to charge, with a nearly full or full stamina wheel, it allows you to keep it up a fairly long time.
  18. I would figure they came from ML. You see a logging area there close the train tracks. The train tracks leads from ML all the way to the unloading area in CH. Along the tracks in the Ravine you can also see logs that have dropped off the train as well. I would assume they were being taken from ML to CH. But another thing to point out is the the Engine Car can be found going the opposite direction in BR so that could be a point to it going to a lumber mill somewhere on the island to the west. Plus some of the Forest Walker notes talk about the operation in ML being illegal. Maybe they were trying to supplement the logs coming into CH with logs from ML?
  19. I will never leave guts behind again...
  20. Iam not sure if this a issue but it was an issue for me I had to figure out. How long you hold the spear steady is tied to your stamina. So if you ran to the spear you might not be able to hold it steady long enough before the bear attacks. I also cheesed it by luring him to the hiding spot closest to the spear and then ducking in the hiding spot making him flee. Then walked not ran to the spear.
  21. Are you questioning my integrity sir!??
  22. I am guessing it will be more useful for quick targets like Wolves or I guess Rabbits as you can keep firing around 6 times without reloading. Could be useful for Wolves when you miss and its charging, pop off another round or two.
  23. I had the same issue with this game while playing at work on a PC on my off hours. I forget what its called, as I play on PS4 now at home, but I reduced the distance at which you see things and that helped a lot, but it made it much harder to navigate as you get that fog effect.
