  1. 201 days, and I retired the character, so didn't die. Can't remember whether it was on Stalker or Interloper, probably Stalker. Did it for the 200 days survived achievement, that's why I stopped after 201 days.
  2. Haha, yeah - I started a new game these days and found charcoal and tinder plugs in the trash bins as well. Would be cool if the game took notice of where players deposit excess material and would spawn it in other players' games in those places.
  3. In my opinion, those differences would not make the new map any more interesting than TWM, rather less interesting. Considering that each new map consumes resources from Hinterland, I would not advocate to create such a new map which would be similar to TWM and less interesting.

    Small birds

    Not sure whether this has been wished for already in the past, I searched for the keyword 'birds' and nothing specific came up. So... I would like to see the occasional small bird in the game. Somewhere in the past, someone has wished for a shotgun and birds which can be shot down for food, but that is not what I have in mind. Just a little bird that flies by, maybe from a bush to the edge of the roof of a cottage, looking around and singing a little bit, then moving on. Not to be interacted with. Like an icon of levity and hope, a moment of encouragement. It should only appear during good weather and in the absence of danger (meaning predators). Now some people may say that everything in the game should have some kind of use/interaction, and indeed I dimly recall @Raphael van Lierop saying or writing (please forgive me if my memory deceives me) that 'everything is a mechanic'. While this may be interpreted in different ways, I understood it in a way that everything needs to have some simple interaction/use. For example, if you introduce bark then it needs to be collectible and useful to make something out of it, be it food, equipment or whatever. And I disagree here. In my view, everything is an experience, and if there is something in a game which evokes strong feelings then it does not have to have any use or interaction. Sometimes I am more mesmerized by intangible things in this game - a sound, the feeling of isolation, or of security when a fire is blazing in the oven of my cottage and a blizzard howling outside - than by finding a useful item. And such a little bird would be just the thing for me. When I am in a snowy environment and see such a little bird, I am always touched somehow, and reminded of Spring (on whose coming the life of the little bird must rely more heavily than the bear sleeping in its cave). Well, maybe it's just me, and I got carried away. Just putting this out there as one more among a gazillion ideas.
  5. Actually, introducing NPCs to the sandbox survival was once part of a roadmap published by Hinterland long ago. However, it was dropped at some point. I don't know whether the reason was ever revealed, and whether the idea was dropped for good or just postponed.
  6. I could envision a Timberwolf cloak - with the wolf's head serving as hood. Should make you look like a wolf-warrior from a fantasy movie. And should definitely have a higher chance to scare off both normal wolves and Timberwolves.
  7. To be honest, I have been frequenting these forums for quite a long time, and I can't recall ever running into someone bragging about surviving a long time on interloper. So is there really a problem with such people that needs to be addressed? As far as I am concerned, I would feel nothing but pity for anyone who cheated himself and then went to some internet forum to brag about it. The people who discuss long interloper (or deadman, or even more difficult custom modes) runs on these forums here do it to exchange knowledge and enjoy insights, at least that is my impression. You can see from what they know about game mechanics that they probably can survive as long as they like. I don't think the save files need any encryption or other security feature.

  11. Ah, a flare gun. The very thing experienced and astute players thought to exist only in a few predestined and remote locations. Fascinating. I have a theory that at times - very rare occurrences indeed - players are momentarily flung into a parallel universe where the game is totally different. Then by some means they are transported back to our reality and relate of things indomitably strange. It's just a theory though.
  12. Sure? I played quite a lot when only Mystery Lake and Coastal Highway existed, and to my recollection ML never featured cars, so CH was the first region with cars (and consequently, visors). I never found anything under the car visors. The same when more regions were added (I think the order was PV, TWM, FM): nothing.
  13. Huh, the last entry just popped up as I am skulking around the forums. Would have been cool if the wolves didn't just pop up, but had pursued you for a while. And you discovered them by accident, turning around. Also, there seem to be planes everywhere nowadays.

  16. Phew. Had me on the edge of my seat there again. So the stim bonus works, good to know. I like the "wool scarf guy" - funny how these expressions find their way into TLD 'jargon'.
  17. I'll be following this closely. It will be interesting to see whether there is any possibility to recover health in this challenge. Birch bark has been ruled out already...

This has probably been asked before, but the Milton Mailbag has become so large that I find myself unable to scan it completely, and due to time restraints (work etc.) I have not been able to follow it for some time. So, that said, here is my question: Since the very first time I played the game (a loooong time ago), the cars had hoods which could be opened, and the car battery would have a very conspicuous appearance, as if it was MADE to be taken out or tampered with in the game. However, that never materialized (at least until I last played the game). Was there a plan to make the car battery a feature long ago? If so, what was the plan? And why was it abandoned? Or is the battery still going to be a thing at some point? Thanks in advance for any potential answer and, yes, thanks for everything in general. Great game.
  19. The achievement will probably be something like "Survive 20 days under these settings". And then some notorious freak frequenting these forums will do it for 200 days. Without using a match.
  20. Muaha. Haven't played in quite a while, but seeing this might just bring me back to TLD over Christmas. The return of Fluffy has been SOOOO overdue. I think that new players should be welcomed by her at some stage into the game. After all, this is a survival game, is it not? Not sure how I like ammunition crafting as a game element (if that is what is coming), since I have always been a fan of dwindling resources. Renewables are kind of taking away from the atmosphere, but that's just me. Anyway, IF we get ammunition crafting, I think we should also get it in Interloper. Together with crafting a rifle from broken rifle parts, oh yes. That would be the super-late-game-reward for Interloper players: Collect parts from broken rifles plus ingredients for ammunition across several regions, collect and study books on crafting rifles and ammunition, travel to the new region, travel around it to its second access, unlock access to the drill, survive the timberwolves guarding access, bring kerosene to fire up the generator and enough food to spend some time in the workshop, craft a rifle plus ammunition... and then bring back everything to your base and put the rifle up on a rack on the wall! It should be designed to only take about 200 days on average or so on Interloper. Also nice to see Deadman coming to the game. Some community challenges are really cool (I still remember when the Lighthouse-TWM Summit-Lighthouse race was on), it's good to see them becoming part of the game. Thanks to @Raphael van Lieropand the team for the continued effort put into the game. Incidentally, recent reviews on Steam have returned to "Overwhelmingly Positive" now. It's been some time. Probably has something to do with the release of Ep. 3 and the new survival mode update in the pipeline.
