No need for something like this in TLD, it's not a first person shooter. I think firearms are basically fine as-is. The only addition I'd consider is a shotgun, but it would have to be carefully balanced, like I posted before here.
Alcohol: cures Cabin Fever, causes Drunkenness (use the low condition/near death effect). Allows you to sleep indoors but only after Drunkenness wears off. Wake up dehydrated & Cabin Fever risk resets to zero.
I see MREs as a catch-all for freeze dried pouch meals. (eg. Mountain House) Very common. I buy them in bulk. Good for both prepping (many have a 20 year shelf life) and for backpacking.
Craftable fire logs are a long standing wish list discussion. I posted about it 2 years ago, others before that. I do agree that tinder should be more useful. I'd use it for one of the following: craftable fire logs, as normal fuel for 1 minute increments, or safely carrying fire. (eg. an ember bundle; stuff a tin can with tinder, it'll safely smolder for hours without worrying about the weather, a common IRL survival technique)
Wouldn't be getting rid of the obstacle course, just gaining the ability to skip it if you want to (after having to conquer it the first time).
There's a mod that adds a bridge. I tried it, it works. Thought it was ugly though, so I nuked it.
One of the ubiquitous occurrences out here in rural BC is the threat of an avalanche. They happen quite frequently. (the other day 2 off-duty police were swept up by one, and one of them died) I'm thinking it could be a useful mechanic in the game. Currently (and I myself do it a lot) "mountain goating" is kind of too easy & feels like a cheat of sorts. How about whenever you try doing something like that, you get an avalanche threat (like a sprain threat) which could sweep you away. You'd get a cinematic where you hear a rumble then get swept away as it fades to black, then you wake up at the bottom with damaged clothes, some items lost/scattered around, some injuries, including broken ribs. Yes I'm sadistic.
😈
If you're on PC, grab the WeMod for this game. It has a "fly" cheat you can use to get out. This is exactly the sort of reason why I keep a mod like that handy. I like to goat around in weird areas sometimes, where getting stuck in terrain is a real possibility, but losing a game because of that kind of glitch is unacceptable.
Totally. I mean, hunger should be tied to other things, as well: the more hungry you are = the quicker you tire (both sleep & stamina). That's how it works in real life. Otherwise, right now, I find the new glimmer fog more scary than starving LOL
I've got all the runtimes installed. Don't even have a mod installed yet, MelonLoader just doesn't work, it crashes on start. Can't put a finger on it.
@Semple FiThat city would be either Vancouver or Victoria.
I would love it is snow depth played a factor.
There's more items that are common out here IRL that should be in the game, such as toboggans, snowshoes, skis, tarps.
Animal AI needs to be much better!
Food in cans shouldn't degrade (at least, it should be measured in years) and animal life is too plentiful, IMO. Hunting should be a game unto itself, more or less.
It's impossible to use Custom & get Feats and Achievements. It's why I never used Custom until I accomplished every single F&A first. And I'm far from alone. That's all. (Semple Fi gets it 🙂)
Custom settings aren't a solution if you care about feats & achievements, unfortunately. Telling people to use Custom settings is (for many, not everyone) like telling console players to use mods.
