  1. ReanuKeeves, "Mapped every location and even more (320 of needed 212), . . . ". How many locations are there to be found? I have got 344, but for all I know there cpould be several more.
  2. I guess I'm too straight and boring for dressing-up games. When I see the photo above I think, "Thank goodness it isn't one of my activities".
  3. I have just received an email from Hinterland about a cosplay competition. WTF is cosplay?
  4. I have not been paying much attention to TLD for the past few months, so I was surprised to find this message saying that this problem still exists. Over a period of a few years I have given HTL much detailed infoprmation on this issue. I assumed that it would have been cleared years ago. I don't want to be too critical of HTL as other games are filled with thousands of such problems, but as one of TLD strongest supporters I feel entitiled to complain. I expect almost perfection from HTL. Incidentally, recently I have spent more time than is sensible playing Elden Ring and AC Valhalla. Elden Ring seems to be nothing more than an endless succession of BOSS battles against very powewrful monsters. I find Valhalla better than Elden Ring but the game concept is no where near as good as TLD. I am still convinced that TLD is the best game that I have ever played.
  5. Sadly my old friend could not be interested in trying the game. He was totally into writing something political about USA, (he was born in USA, did his military service than got out of the country to do a Ph.D.). I was very disappointed that I could not tear him away from his writing.
  6. A revolver and a shotgun would be used primarily for short range defence from wolves. The shotgun would probably be more damaging but its fire rate is slower than a revolver, and it is much heavier. I would probably stick with the revolver to save weight.
  7. Making the viewable zone 270 degrees would be an easy compromise.
  8. Did you notice that Blackrock was missing from the regions in that display? The regions are in alphabetical order. BlackRock should be after Ash Canyon There are multiple bugs in the Journal's Surveyed Locations.
  9. I reported this bug to Tech Support yesterday. However I also reported this bug months ago expecting it to be fixed by this new update.
  10. I have been through to the inside of the prison a few times but I have only seen the bear once. It was in the large compound that leads to the small fenced gated area with the rope up to the gantry. As was at the other end of that large compound where, after going through a gate you enter a small area with a gap in the broken fence to the large compound. I was in that small area and the bear in the large compound. The bear seemed unable to pass through the broken fence and enter the small area where I was. I seemed safe from the bear and it was an easy kill. I haven't seen a bear anywhere else in or near the prison area.
  11. I can't get worked up about problems of that level.
  12. Yes, A couple of times I have failed to find a Prepper's Cache in ML. I ended up puzzled. I felt that I had looked everywhere, but at the same time I felt that it must be there somewhere. I suspect that I have established, and stick to, the same old routes between places and that there must be a few places that always miss. Perhaps I'll go back to an old save in which I have not found the cache and have a closer look.
  13. WOW ! That was a big update. I was only aware of a small number of problems. I can see how it took so long to do. It's downloaded, now I can try it.😄 Addendum Ugh, Ugh, I think I have problem already. Blackrock is not included in the Journal, Surveyed Locations. Or have I misunderstood something?
  14. Way back in early '80s I set up an IT training company that concentrated on giving IT training to problem teenagers. Some of the kids had been rebellious, troublesome and kicked out of school. IT training, and playing those early games tansformed those young guys. They changed from being troublesome kids, who the establishment regarded as the dregs of young people, to being committed to IT. Some of them very quickly got very good jobs in computing and developed very good careers.
  15. With the help of mods it is possible to start an Interloper game like this, Mods can change the nature of the chanllenge, and game. Not all mods are cheats, some are primarily decorative.
  16. The most suspense-filled, exciting days when playing TLD are when you don't know the region, don't know where you are, when the mist comes down, you are tired & cold and don't where you can shelter. Use of maps, mods and loot tables take away those days.
  17. In a few days I shall have an elderly Canadian friend coming to visit me in UK, from Singapore where he has spent the past 30 years, or more, of his life. He spent many years in Saskatoon and later a shorter spell in Alaska. He is a bit of an outdoors person, but at over 80 years old, he's not much into computers or computer gaming. I am looking forward to seing his response to TLD. I am worried that the the difficulties at the start might turn him off. I hope that I can make him appreciate the game, as it has given me so much enjoyment that I want to share.
  18. I agree with the point that you are making. I leave my resources scattered across regions. I don't use stone caches, I just leave meat on the ground. They are waiting for me on a return visit. Similarly I like to leave a stock of food, water, wood, all sorts of things in caves and anywhere I might return to.
  19. Ahhh! you were a late developer. I remember playing Scott Adams Adventures on my Tandy TRS 80 clone in 1980 or 1981, and creating my first computer game then too. They were the days when there was only PET, Apple & TRS 80. I remember a group of friends around the computer being excited by two lines of text at the top of the screen and having to enter N, S, E or W. at the bottom. And how all felt cheated when the mongoose was a squirrel and couldn't kill the snake..
  20. Yesterday I was bored waiting for the update to correct the bugs in the current release, (no, I am not complaining, I understand the problems of developing software, and I think HTL is doing a great job). So, I was wondering what to do. I came across the Nomad challenge. I did it many years ago, but deleted the file a long time ago. It was interesing and very enjoyable to go back to a relatively easy game. I suspect that many players are so determined to be macho and claim they are Interloper players, that they miss out on a great deal of enjoyment in the game. Normally I play straight Stalker games, and don't use mods, maps and spolier websites. ( This does not mean that I think that MM&S developers & players are evil, baby-eating Commie Russians), I think that much of their work is extremely good. It was so enjoyable and releaxing to play a game, that was still challenging, but didn't have endless wolves and macho connotations.
  21. Hi Piddy, Many times I have suggested to HTL that instead of a Halloween special game that they have a special Xmas game with a Santa's Grotto. How about you beating HTL to it and creating a well-equipped, luxury Santa's Grotto.
  22. Getting that rifle is very simple. I don't know what the fuss is about.
  23. I'm sure a restaurant would keep it's wood and coal out of the kitchen, apart from the immdediate needs. I think those bags of quartered bear, or whatever, look gross. I don't think a restaurant would have those on public view.
  24. This is a great example of what I like about TLD. There can be a million personal challenges of your own making. piddy3825 has set himself the challenge of turning the lodge into a restaurant. I bet that it took a much work and great care. It is great. Some people want to find remote locations, some the biggest fish. The list of possible self-imposed challenges is endless. I am also impressed when I read of someone's attempt work out technical issues, it might be the best set of clothes to wear, or comparative food values. I think some of the maps that have been created are superb, although I think that using them is a big cheat. TLD gives people fascinating challenges. Conversely I get irritated when I read of people boasting of their Interloper successes but 'forget' to mention that they used maps, mods & spoiler websites to achieve that.
  25. I find that the Timberwolves in BI are not much of a problem, but the Timberwolves in Blackrock give me big problems. In one game in Blackrock I had either five or six attacks by Tw. within ten seconds of each other. After one attack finished I hardly had time to reload my revolver before the next attack started. I am not sure if it was a Stalker or Voyager game. I actually think it was Voyager games but I find it hard to believe that a voyager game could be that fierce. The crazy thing is that I realise that a flare can keep them at bay but I always use my revolver, and waste loads of ammo.
