  1. I have just finished mapping the new TFTFT areas. I concluded that there were about 60 new locations and was interested to find out if I had missed any locations. Then I relised that I had miscalculated. In this Voyager run I started in Broken Railroad, went to TFTFT and had a trip out to ML. In my calculation I deducted the recorded surveyed locations shown in the journal from the total locations. This was mixing different things. For example I had 14 surveyed locations for ML but would have visited more locations in ML than that. So I hadn't deducted all of the non-TFTFT locations from the total locations. So I over estimated the locations in TFTFT. I find that there are several inconsistencies assocated with the locations in TLD. An obvious irregularity is that in the current version, the new zones are not included in the Surveyed Locations section in the Journal. The waterfall that seemed to be the biggest in TFTFT did not have a name, when I tried to add it to the map with charcoal, nothing happened. Whereas a lesser waterfall in Far Range Branch Line could be surveyed and added to the map. Another small inconsistency that caused me a load of unneccesary cold, foggy trekking and sleeping out in blizzard was "Gribs Cave". I remember staying in the cave but couldn't see it on my map. I assumed that I had been unable to map it due to the fog. So I revisted the cave and resurveyed it. The map did not change. On the map the the cave is simple labelled "Cave" and not as "Gribs Cave". That is a small point but the hardship, and waste of time and valuable resources was great.
  2. I have mapped almost all of the new regions. So far I have found 61 new locations. However I have two issues still to be resolved. The first is simple and I expect to clear it up very soon. That is a cave I visited in a thick fog. It was called something like "Glib's Cave". I couldn't map it because of the fog, and I haven't been able to find it again. The second is potentially more interesting. I mapped a rope climb without a rope. I was at the bottom of the climb. I have not been able to find a way to the top of that rope climb. Surely there must be an interesting place near the top of the climb, or why have it there. But no, you can not have sight of my map. The point of the game is for you to explore the place yourself.
  3. I have just gone back out to the airfield to to clear away black patches on the charcoal map. However the black patches are in areas without anything of interest and I have only increased to loacations to 60. I still have more black areas to clear so I might find another couple of locations. Now that I have warm clothes and Level 5 Archery and Cooking it is much easier.
  4. hozz1235 It seems that I have found 59 locations in the new regions, Forsaken Airfield, plus Far Range Branch Line and Transfer Pass. They are not detailed in the Survey bit of the journal. Do you know how many locations there are for those regions?
  5. I had decided to delay getting the DCL until the initial problems were removed, but a boring Xmas tempted me to have a look at the new bit. I have deliberately avoided reading and looking at anything about the new DCL, so I knew very little about it. I did come across a bit which said from which region the new region was entered, so I had a little advance information. I went to that region and started a Voyager game there. I tried to spend as little time as possible there and get into the new region relatively virginal. It was very interesting but not easy even at Voyager level. I probably covered the whole region reasonably well, but I did not know that at the time. I didn't know how far the region extended, nor did I know what I was looking for. This is what made it interesting, and difficult. I found what I assume were the main features, but I felt sure that I had missed more interesting areas within the region. I spent much time searching areas for new features, usually in very cold thick fog, but found little or nothing of interest. At one point I found a cave but couldn't add it to my charcoal map due to the fog, and I have not been able to find it again. I found the bottom of a rope climb, without a rope, but in spite of many tries I could not find a way to the top of that rope climb. So for all I know, there could be an undiscovered area full of all sort of buildings etc. I thought that there might be a mine there. There was an area that I felt must lead to something interesting, but almost every direction I took led me to the same exit points. It seemed that it had curved lines of lat & lon. The fog was a major problem. When I got a bow & arrow and went hunting, everytime I killed a deer the fog came down and I became lost and was on the verge of freezing to death before I could find a shelter. There were many aspects of the game that didn't seem as before. Probably the worst was the deterioration in the quality of meat which can lead to food poisoning. I have not yet worked that out. Bon Voyage.
  6. I would have much preferred HTL to have put their efforts into finishing and releasing Episode 5 before they released the DLC. This way we could have a complete TLD using the same games format and saves. After that an updated TLD Ver. 3.00 with the new regions could have been released.
  7. No, it is not a cheat. If you go to "Key Bindings" you will see that it is there. Cheating by backing-up my saves is the only cheat of which I approve. I felt that HTL had got it wrong with Permadeath. I was delighted to see that HTL seems to accept that saving was a necessary facility. Are there any players apart from newbies who don't backup their saves?
  8. Is anyone having a problem with F5, Quicksave? I am trying to delay playing TALES FROM THE FAR TERRITORY until the initial bugs are sorted out, but couldn't resist trying ,Ver. 2.03. I found that F5, Quicksave wasn't working on my good, Dell XPS Laptop. Usually I play TLD on my DELL Desktop and haven't yet tried it on that system. Is there a problem with Quicksave, or is it just a quirk of my laptop?
  9. Is there a free update? I became a bit confused about this release, and I wasn't in a hurry for "TALES FROM THE FAR TERRITORY", so I didn't read the blurb in detail. I thought that I'll wait until the new bugs are cleard up. I am surprised at this mention of a free update. Is there a free update to the standard TLD?
  10. My trip out to Riken turned out much better than expected. Once in DP there were loads of coal and Riken is full of scrap. However I made a couple of very silly major mistakes and a couple of minor mistakes too, on the way. On an overnight stay I dropped my birch saplings, deer hides and guts and forgot to pick them up. So that once I got to Riken and made axe, knife and arrowheads I could not make a bow or arrows. I am now on my way back to try and find the gear I dropped, but it's tricky. I cleaned out almost all of the food on the way out, so now it is difficult. When I find the guts and birch saplings I'll then have to travel further to find a workbench. I have already died more than a dozen times, fortunately I cheated and saved as I went along. That earlier carelessness will probably put me in an irrecoverable state soon.
  11. I had Cabin Fever proper, not jut the warning. That surprised me. In the past I have had warnings about the onset of Cabin Fever, this time it seemed that I developed Cabin Fever without warnings. To recover from that I went to the cave near closest laskeside cabins as they are much easier to get to than the Overlook. One puzzle that I haven't solved is fishing. Earlier, from the ML Office I went out to a fishing hut three times and fished for around 4 or 5 hours each time and did not catch any fish. I've never had it that bad previously. I am at the Overlook now. The main attraction there is the deer carcass that will give me food and a deer hide, and the rabbits. Getting those is a problem due to a blizzard. After there I shall head upstream collecting cattails then pop into the dam from which I can pop out to Winding River to another deer carcass for more meat and a hide. After that it will be a dash up to Riken. Originally I assumed that I would find a knife, axe and/or bow and arrow or two enroute. Now I realise that I will not. That is a long journey to make with poor clothing and freezing weather. There will be few cattails along that route so I expect serious food problems. Earlier in this game I had problems with wolves in FM. As my condition was so low I was easily killed in any wolf encounter. One big mistake I made early in this game was to try and find a moose backpack in HRV. I had assumed that I would find an axe so getting to the smoking fires would not be a problem. I wasted much time getting there, searching and getting out. If I had read a 'cheat' sheet, Ooops! I shouldn't use that word, it upsets cheaters, and known that axes and knives could not be found I would have played the game very differently. If I had looked at loot tables I would have known where to go to find an axe and knife, and I guess, warm clothes. It would have been as easy as Voyager. I am finding that playing a straight Interloper game is no fun at all. It is too difficult. It is not rexlaxing. I can see why people use the cheats, Ooops!, should I say helpful information from outside the game.
  12. That fits in with what I have just experienced. When at the ML Office I used the cave near the nearest lakeside cabins to avoid Cabin Fever, and that was OK.
  13. I had not left a heavy hammer at the ML Office as I thought, I had to go a stage further back, to Trappers. Now I have the hammer, it should be simple. Except, at Trappers I am suffering from Cabin Fever. I tried to avoid this by sleeping at the nearby cave but that must count as causing Cabin Fever too. It's strange. Some caves seem to cause Cabin Fever, some don't. It is a bit of a problem as everywhere is so bloody cold.
  14. That is where I have had it wrong. I was expecting to find an axe and a knife, and searched and searched when I should have been forging them. I found a few heavy hammers, which was unusual, perhaps that was a clue. I have a hacksaw and found tons of coal. So forging would have been easy. Thanks for that suggestion. At the moment I am at PV Farmhouse on day 63. I shall return to the Dam where I think I left a heavy hammer then go to the RIKEN which is my favourite forge.
  15. I haven't played TLD for several months, since Ash Canyon came out and I updated all of my saved games. But since the miserable, start of winter weather in Britain I have been very bored, so I returned to TLD. I normally play straight Stalker or Voyager games. Apart from saving my games, I don't use any cheats, sorry, mods, that make the games easier. I have never seen a loot table, nor used one. I have probably spent more hours playing TLD than 99+% of players. So I returned to an old Interloper game. I don't like interloper. If played without cheating, i.e. using loot tables, it is no fun. I usually have better things to do with my life than than give myself stress that might give me a heart attack. But I was very bored. The game I retuned to was a 49 day Interloper game that I'd not touched for a long time. I was out in Milton Basin and in poor shape. My condition was around 15%, I had next to no food, had a clothing warmth bonus of about 14-15°. I had no knife, axe or bow. I believe that none of the more powerful and useful equipment is available unless you edit your save file. So that's my background. What I found was that the game was incredibly difficult and, as already known, no fun whatsoever. I had many tries to recover my situatipn which didn't seem too bad. But every time, many times, I slipped in to the Long Dark. It was just as well that I saved my games. In the end I got out to a place where it suddenly became easy. My condition is around 55% so I am in position to try and find a knife, axe and make a bow and arrows. From now on it's easier. It might seem that I am strongly against the use of mods or loot tables to make the game easier. Well, that is only partly true. If such things are what people want and helps HTL sell the game, I'm OK with it. What I am particularly against is the bullshitting where players using those cheats boast of their epic runs when it was all achieved by the use of the cheats. Back to the game.
  16. I think that the game starts off too difficult then after 50 days become easier. I would like to see it easier at ther start, then continue to become more difficult the longer you stay. Personnally it doesn't affect me, but I know people who have given up playing the game after having a difficult start that was no fun.
  17. After one quick read through I am confused. Without being able to carry forward my saves, and with so many changes it is almost a new game. I will probably drop Wintermute and just play the Survival game. Whereas everyone else seems ecstatically happy I feel a bit uneasy and am in no rush to have the new version. Perhaps if I read the blurb again I will undersgtand it better and be more enthusiastic.
  18. I've now found 345 locations that are recorded in my journal. How many more are there?
  19. It happens periodically. When a new episode is released there is great interest in TLD. Once people have played that out interest dwindles. Superimposed upon that are seasonal factors. In winter people are stuck in the house and playing a game on the computer is an ideal activity. In fine weather people have many outdoor activity options so computer games are of lesser interest. I suspect that if HTL brought out updates, bug fixes, every three months that they would increase interest, activity and sales.
  20. In an old game I used charcoal to mark a previously visited Prepper Cache and pushed up the recorded Locations in my journal to 345. I think there still could be more. Has anyone come across a fill list of them?
  21. What is the total number of Locations?
