If you've shot it, and you see a blood trail, just give it some time and it will bleed out all on it's own (sometimes in it's lair).

So weird, I was just about to make a post about, "Have you EVER found anything inside a shower?" because up until this point (and I'm at 1,546 Steam hours) I have never found anything inside a shower:

This is my oldest save going back many years - possibly Early Access, but if not there, then soon after. I don't fully recall...

I've seen some odd things happen with very old saves as well. As others have recommended, I'd start a clean run and knock 'em out.

If you haven't already, try climbing up or down slightly on the rope while you "scan" the ledge with your mouse.
