  1. Battery was stubborn and did not want to leave the vehicle. The situation was grim. Went to church and prayed for slavage-tion. Back in business baby! Battery Logistics When moving Battery it is easiest to just lug them. It takes the most in game time and real time. The best method to move a Battery group is 'leap frog'. Stand behind and place Battery from the back to the front. A variation is the 'side leap frog'. Stand adjacent to the Battery group and place Battery from the back to the front. This is demanding on the user but the advantage is this will move a Battery group quickly. Collecting Battery It is electrifying! Battery Tally Milton - twelve. Pleasant Valley - nine. Coastal Highway - eight. Desolation Point - three. Crumbling Highway - one. Broken Railroad - one. Battery Tally total is thirty four.
  2. Not normal for my reality. Please explain how a clump of grass rotating with your view is normal. I have not ever seen it in a video game either until now. Maybe an animation of it would display better.
  3. I disrobe at every opportunity available. Sleeping in a warm bed be certain I am down to nothing. Pull a thirty six hour fishing session down to skin again. While forging I hope that my short and curlies don't get singed. The advantage is there is less wear on the clothing. The only downside for me to disrobing is walking around and not realizing that icy chill up my shorts.
  4. Noticed something odd with the grass in Mystery Lake region. The grass rotates with your view. In the first frame the grass is parallel to the prybar. This last frame the grass is crossing over the prybar. Noticed this grass effect looking for feathers when the grass did obscure them. Cannot say it falls under the 'it is bad' category but it sure falls under the 'uncanny'.
  5. Even though there is no turn at the corners of the mouth, Battery still appears happy.
  6. When looking for Battery there are some vehicles that do not give them away. Car with front end damage has no option to lift the hood. Truck not only do not give Battery away. Truck tease you showing Battery. The one discovery made is concerning Battery against Bear. It is possible to scare Bear away using Battery gang.
  7. One does not just command Battery to scurry into your dirty backpack. [insert appropriate hobbit meme] You and Battery must get to know each other. You must nurture a relationship and speak reassuringly while carrying Battery. Make Battery your friend. Then just as you reach your wits end. Poof! Battery joins your party. edit: Over the past few days I have been experimenting with Battery. Not to spoil my inquisition knowledge gained externally was precluded. The screenshot that ThePanckaLady talked bout was all the fuel I needed. Knowing it was possible drove my discovery.
  8. Plumbous Portari There are batteries 🔋 in The Long Dark. Got to collect them all.
  9. Battery gathering looked grim in Milton today. Could not pick them out of any car. Even the ones that I was able to before. The model is shifted. Went in to pray for salvage-tion. Back in business baby!
  10. Battery weight sure surprised me too. Battery has different levels of decay. Wonder what the decay rate is?
  11. Interesting discovery. Battery is invisible when in backpack inventory.
  12. Talking to my friend MacGayver about this pepper spray idea. He said all we need is a fire extinguisher hundred packs of beef jerky and some bubble gum.
  13. I am in my RIVIAN R1T and Cortana indicates this is the charging station.
  14. Idiosyncrasy a mode of behaviour or way of thought peculiar to an individual My peculiar behaviour is at area transitions. An example is approaching the cave entrance in Winding River and instead of clicking to enter I continue moving forward. Same when travelling to another region. Describe idiosyncrasies that you have in The Long Dark.
  15. How do we know for certain they do not have a use? Moving those nine batteries around was a pain. Only one can be carried at a time. Every time I checked the time of day or inventory or character the battery slips out of my hands and teleports back to the last place it was placed. Learned to set the battery down more often after number four. Was trying to test out what happens when getting a sprain while carrying a battery. The battery position was in front of me before the sprain and after a reload. This is similar to the behaviour of placing campfires and sprains. No sprinting either so made sure I was at the ten kilogram weight to enable fast walking. Froze most of the time.
  16. I think this is a great idea. Perhaps it could be a crafted item. We do not have any pepper but maybe with the water purification tabs.
  17. The Battery is the most over looked item in The Long Dark. The model is around for long time and so far has no use. Or does it? The Long Dark still has unsolved mysteries as mentioned somewhere on this forum by the developers. Is Battery really just some useless item that has existed for all this time without being removed. Suspect most what is least suspected.🤔
  18. Totally agree with this point. The MHW system should never punish or reward a player for their actions. Nature does not care about our state of mind. The scale cannot be linear with neutral in the middle and values going positive or negative. The scale for MHW needs to have the neutral area in the centre of a circle. Actions push out towards the perimeter which then causes a change in mental health. The change in MHW then affects all players in the same fashion. What theses actions are and the changes to MHW are still unknown to me. Further discussion on this topic can reveal what actions cause the type of changes to mental health.
  19. The idea of a mental well being system was discussed long ago on the roadmap. It could still be upcoming. The reason I think it might show up eventually is because we have the ability to release rabbits but before releasing the rabbit our character pets it on the head. Something the HL team could consider to relieve stress is by witnessing something that we as players would consider a natural beauty. Maybe a scenic vista during an aurora. or simple things like a rainbow over the waterfalls or a sunrise/sunsets from a certain location. Certain rewarding actions like catching a big fish or finding a cache or sewing ten garments in a row without fail could also relieve stress. Mental well being is a great topic.
  20. That song brings back some bad memories, Used The Napshake service to download an MP3 and after that I was hooked. Next thing you know I was downloading clothes, bikes, cars, boats and other merchandise I could never afford. Spent the next fifteen years running from the IP cops. I think the trail has gone cold now. Want to know what happens when you have nine batteries on a table. Nothing.

    Locked Car

The door to the farmhouse can only be unlocked with a key but the doors at Orca can only be pried open. I wonder if the idea of using keys versus prybars was tested in Milton. The key is specific to a door and the pry bar can open all locked doors. If both options are available this makes the prybar OP and to nerf increase time taken to pry open. Pry at the door hinges and this would double the action and time taken to gain access. One door I would have liked to pry open is the CHD door, but now the walk on the ledge has been fixed so less of an issue.
  22. Place your battery related material here! Last night was a weird and Long Dark night. Pranking the paperboy. Apparently this is already a thing on the internet. When a rock hits Battery a metallic sound is produced.
  23. Found this yesterday. Hangover Rock 🛏️ 🐐 🌄 Campfire can be placed and does seem windproof. Bedroll can also be placed. Takes some goating to access. Has a great view.

    Locked Car

Got an easy analogy. The locked house in Milton and Orca Gas Station both can be surrounded by wolves. Without former knowledge (playing story mode) you would expect these locations safe to run to and hide inside. There was a time when I took the chance and pried 🙏🏻 for my life to get inside the Orca gas station.
