  1. Got a glimpse of this cave while I was busy doing something else. Kayak Cave Room for a bedroll and fire that seems windproof. There is also chimney hole for the smoke to exit. Snow shelter is not an option.
  2. This recently discovered cave is more of a boulder foot. The boulder rises up and forms the roof and the V floor allows for a wind proof fire. Long Dark Rocky Mountain Goat Respite
  3. Who painted these; Bob Ross? Here are some snapshots of the sunset from the latest goat expedition. Eagle's Nest
  4. Update to the Eagle's Nest I spent the whole day and night there with a fire in the corner which does seems windproof.
  5. Good location @hozz1235 Might stop by and check out the digs tonight as I just found another one in MT recently. This cranny is not that roomy and if you suffer form vertigo this location might not be the best choice. A fire and bedroll can be placed, windproof is not guaranteed. Eagle's Nest
  6. Found these specimens while goating in BRR. Please excuse as I did not put a box of crackers for scale. These might be common tree models that have been reduced in size. I have seen loads of trees in this game and these just struck me as oddballs.
  7. There is something unusual about this picture. Zoom and enhance.
  8. Thanks, I appreciate that. The initial reason for starting this thread was to reveal a hidden cave that is more than odd. Found it maybe within the first six months of picking up the Long Dark. Been waiting to see if others have come across this unique hidden cave too. In the meantime I continue searching for additional locations and noting Hidden Cave campsite amenities.
  9. Whoops. Crashedmountain is TWM Thinking now I know where this is located. This would look more familiar if the large log was not missing. I always pass this spot as I make my way into TWM by heading up and to the right when coming in from PV.
  10. I have been poking around MT lately but have not come across this little nook. Even has a flag of old man's beard by the entrance. @s7mar7inThe find it you name it rule applies.
  11. Last week I just watched that video too. Lonnie talks about how to spot the differences between black and white spruce trees. After realizing that the orange pekoe tea that is my morning brew is also from the evergreen family, black spruce tip tea is now something I really want to try.
  12. Apparently, according to Methuselah, yes you can! This is a very, very strong flavor. Is it pleasant? Well, he would'n't say so, but, the bark does chew up fairly well. Raw, boiled or fried is alright with me. Baked and ground into a flour to make barkcakes, yum. Far North Bushcraft And Survival channel is enjoyable to watch. Shows very healthy living off the land.
  13. That is exactly what happened to me. Now the in game mouse sensitivity has been adjusted and looking is done less with my mouse. I have been noticing less sprains. The mouse acceleration could also have an impact but I have not experimented with that yet. Apparently this has no effect. I was very surprised to learn this. I do not know too much about Jeff but it seems he is certain. No. It definitely does not.
  14. I have not started looking in FM, great find. Since you @hozz1235 found the cave you can name it. One important notable is in this cave can a snow shelter be constructed to make use of the windproof fire. Here is another cave I found today. If you like waking up to the smell of sea water and instead of the sound of a rooster cuck-a-doodle-dooing the wolves are howling than this place might be right for you. The fire is windproof, the bedroll can be used. No snow shelter accommodation. The Smugglers Cove
  15. It usually vanishes instantaneously when using other containers. Not certain why the trashcan did not consume the ruined item. Try to confirm. That could be a bug.
  16. There are times when I have three lantern fuel containers just to add up to .30 l for accelerant, Is the item decay the reason the fuel cannot be combined? If so just then average them when combing. If theses Jerry cans would be refillable. Then why not make it an option to dispense x amount of fuel from the Jerry can into a lantern fuel containers? Place ruined items into a container and just like magic. Poof! Vanished. The original fire was super. BringBackBlazey
  17. Just did some analysis on the workings of Carter Hydro Dam. Great Picture of it @DerpyLemon115. I am learning to take better shots. What I bring to the table is goating into unique areas.
  18. You are on to it. The funny thing is it probably been there since forever but I never saw it. Most of the time I travel down that slop and it would be off to my left. The cabin is close by and all downhill i usually just book it down there. When going up I usually start from the trailer. I have been more watchful for theses hideaways. Take this goataway that was found today. Makes for an interesting retreat. The fire seems wind proof but ideally the trench would make a better spot. This spot offers no advantage from critters but the off trail leads to views can be spectacular.
  19. Very solid information for goaters to know. I suspected as much. The herd thanks you for the confirmation.
