  1. I grew up on sardines in tomato sauce on toast, lightly grilled. These days I go for them tinned in chili oil, again grilled on toast until the skin starts to crackle, with salt, pepper, lemon juice and parsley. pour plenty of the oil over the bread so it crisps up under the grill, a bit like fried bread. On the original thread subject (nearly), I watched this last night:
  2. I think this may work both ways- I made 3 arrows, with another at 16% condition in my inventory. Result- 4 arrows with 16% condition. So looks like any arrows stacked onto an existing arrow in the inventory are given the 1st arrows' condition. So always keep one good arrow back until the bug is fixed!
  3. I play on PC, and yes the option to place items has gone for me too. There is this in the 'known issues' bit of HL website: Items are missing from, and cannot be used through the In-Game Radial Menu 'Presentation: Items such as Bearskin Bedrolls are missing from their regular location in the Radial Menu. As a result, these items cannot be placed or used from this menu. Workaround: This change was a short-term solution which will be re-implemented with improvements to the Radial Menu in a future update. We apologize for the inconvenience.' It doesn't quite match what I'm seeing, as mainly the items are still in the radial menu (for example, cans of beans) but the option to place them, either next to a fire to heat, or on a shelf, has been removed. I suspect this may be linked to the overhaul of cooking systems, and the upcoming safehouse customisation (and maybe even the travois?), and that it was easier to totally rebuild the radial menu- time will tell!
  4. answered my own question...! have just found the recipe in community hall kitchen, so seems recipes may be found in different places in the same location.
  5. do we know if these locations are fixed or variable yet? I'm at Tommo's now- no recipe. I also didn't find one at the ML prepper's bunker (although it was a mess, could have overlooked it). wondering if I may have a bugged run...
  6. just stumbled across this thread- your sketches are great, please keep posting!
  7. ML- right by the lodge by the lake, and also up near where the new bunker spawn is. They're not there all the time though. Good luck!
  8. anyone figured out how to set one of these yet? Walked out on ML with a tip up but couldn't work out how to set it...
  9. salt is described as used for seasoning and preserving...
  10. info on this thread for you, including admin confirmation:
  11. It's interesting looking at the TFTFT roadmap, that things seem to be being released 'in order' as they are listed on the roadmap. And the trader is listed in between cooking and the ptarmigan, which have been confirmed for the next release. I don't think there is anything to behold HL to this, and they may well have had to decide to move things about because of the recent difficulties, but it does also raise the question of whether we may get the wildlife refresh* and 1st person animations next time out too- they are listed in between burdock and fishing. edit- * unclear from roadmap if the wildlife respawn has been released or not- it's down under part ones' free updates, but then in the free updates section it's not marked as released. I haven't noticed any big changes in animal locations as yet myself.
  12. Superb stuff, and not just cos I have 4 days' leave booked for the end of June...😊 I also have a skillet similar to that design, I think we need another recipe challenge! Fish pie implies potato- some sort of smash, perhaps? Talking of fish, can any anglers out there identify the new species in the photo? If we are getting burdock, does that mean dandelions are coming in a future update?!
  13. sorry for late reply- no , it was a whole carcass, not ravaged...
  14. no worries- the fella should've had some Old Man's Beard on him! Maybe we'll see bear spray in TLD one day too...

  16. Hey PilgrimReaper Another possibility...had you survived an animal attack recently, and perhaps forgot to treat the infection (or treated it with antiseptic/OMB after the affliction set in, which wouldn't then work)? That could explain the fatigue symbol. It's got me in the past... https://thelongdark.fandom.com/wiki/Infection
  17. hmmmmm- I was making my way back from Ash Canyon to mountaineer's hut today, and wounded a wolf by the engine in Echo Ravine. a couple of days later made it back to crystal lake, and there was a wolf's carcass there. I've never known a wounded animal run that far before dying. Maybe the carcass wasn't the wolf I encountered, and something else was the killer...
  18. of course, this post would have a made a lot more sense if I'd remembered that the tech b/p doesn't need to be equipped in an accessory slot...
  19. Pre TFTFT my first goal, after sorting the essentials, would be a run to AC to get the tech backpack & crampons. I didn't bother on my most recent run, as I wanted to get to the transponder and start the tale straight off. I'm now in AC, heading, for the mine, and (assuming those items having been moved by the loot refresh), I'm contemplating what to do with my accessory slots. Both the headwrap and crampons make sense to keep for occasional use in particular situations due to their weight/usefulness ratio. I'm just not seeing any reason to use the holster, once I have moose bag and tech backpack, as they appear to offer a better buff across all items carried, not just the rifle (which is now less of a problem due to Vaughn's variant anyway). Maths is by no means a strong point of mine,- but if the holster reduces rifle weight by 50%, and other accessories add a plus 5kg carry capacity, would we need a 10kg+ weapon for the holster to be an upgrade on the other options...? It's nice to finally have a decision about what to do with these slots, but it doesn't seem to be too difficult at the moment. Am I missing something?
