  1. That bear at Unnamed Pond has been a "thing" in the game for some time. A few of my friends and I took to calling him "Spirit Bear", because of his eerie and magical presence there. Usually while we were trying to harvest the deer carcass there. We learned to always harvest from the top, on the snow, not from the bottom, on the ice. Since that seems to be where the Spirit Bear spawn box is. This. ^^^. PV as well, near the Farmhouse. Only once, but... that was enough for me to never open that porch door without listening for Bear Crows and bear noises first. Spirit Bear gets around, lol.
  2. They are useful in other experience modes. They quench thirst well (again/now that the bug is fixed), give 100 calories each cup, and a warmth bonus for 2 hours if warmed or cooked before drinking. And they have medicinal properties if used as a medical treatment for food poisoning or pain. They're plenty good in other modes.
  3. PC Steam? GoG? XBox One-Windows 10 Play anywhere? Windows, Mac, Linux? I ask because Steam has game file integrity verification built into Steam Client, that will check for missing or corrupted files, and download/re-install any that are needed. Steam will verify the game files, and the redistributables. GoG file integrity check only tells you if any files are missing or corrupted, but will not repair or replace them IIRC. Have you filed a bug report on the official Hinterland Support Portal yet? (This forum is more of a players-helping-players thing, not a direct line to Hinterland Tech Support, the Support Portal is a direct line to them, your report will be automatically sent to their bug report database.)
  4. Still playing around in PV, trying to grind out the Blizzard Walker Feat. Progress being made, but I do appreciate the rare "nice weather" I get from time to time. I am living mostly in a cave, even though the Cabin Fever grace period is not expired yet, and in the Community Hall, running to the Big Red Barn for crafting. Nice days mean... time to get out and explore! Things were fine, until this bugger showed up at The End Of The Road, while I was down looting the dead body there... One rifle shot when it moved in closer, spent some time in the car waiting for it to bleed out, so I could head home. Left it laying, it was getting to be too late to harvest it, especially with a clear sky and a possible Aurora. No Aurora, but I am not heading back to the cave tonight. I can hear the wolves howling. Thompson's Crossing for the night, and a nice fire in the Community Hall. Gorgeous night, wary of those wolves, especially with deer running away from where I am headed... Rare, calm winds left the tracks, clear to see. No wolf tracks, so I head in for the night, happy for a warm place to sleep.
  5. Lol! I love when I don't have to dare you to do silly things, you up and volunteer to do them yourself.
  6. Went into the lower Mine before we knew the boltcutters for the Medical Locker was a bug, looking for them. Never thought of checking the fuse boxes. Not sure if there will be anything there, because... (Wintermute Spoilers ahead, don;t look if you don;t ant to know):
  7. They don't just ignore it, once you figure out how to use it now. The old "2 steps back, 1 step to the side and stop (to line up a kill) no longer works. Decoys are meant to give you a chance to get away... and that's how they do work now. Keep moving away. Don't stop and point a weapon at the wolf, keep moving. And don't turn your back to them, or run. They will aggro and chase if you try to run, if you are still in detection range. Still playing with it, to get it all worked out, but this approach works *most of the time* for me, in Stalker and Voyageur right now. A few failures, but more successes than failures so far. Playing with it more right now, to see what dropping, backing up and crouching does. Biggest thing in my (limited) experience so far has been not moving to the side. If the wolf is locked onto me, moving to the side will draw the wolf to the side as well, breaking their direct line of sight on the decoy, at which point they ignore it, completely.
  8. @Morrick- nice find! That is a sneaky hiding place, for sure.
  9. Yeah, bunnies and wolves also go into caves, and wolves will chase you in there if they are pursuing you. Same with porches that have open doorways or openings in the railings. Haven't had a Moose chase me into a cave yet, but I am betting they can and will under the right circumstances. (It is amusing to scare a bunny into a cave and watch it hop around trying to find its way back out, lol. Not that I would try to do that intentionally... Okay. I would. And have. )
  10. Hinterland is on Holiday Break. He's not been very active on Twitter for a bout a week. Holiday time away with his family and friends, I am sure. And if the question has already been answered in another Twitter thread, he isn't likely to answer it again.
  11. 100% sure. I found a flare gun once. And like i mentioned, the question comes up regularly in our Facebook group, and several people have reported finding items at least once, including matches, , candy bars, gloves, ammo, and more. But not for several years now, although they keep looking. EDIT: I just did a search in the group and the question has come up at least 20 times since 2017ish, and on all occasions, yes, something has been found in earlier versions. Any screenshots (not obviously photoshopped) to show proof ever posted? Any screenshots I have ever seen (Steam SS or otherwise) of "visor items" or "The Lighthouse Wolf" have had the telltale line(s) of mismatched or missing pixels around the edge of the item or the wolf. And it's easy to say "Yeah, I found xxx..." when not asked to show proof. If you mean the truck outside the gated area, just across the bridge going in, yes. It has visors. And yes, it is "newish" (added when Wintermute first went live in 2017, and the Dam was given a complete overhaul and Fluffy was removed from the Dam in Survival Mode). Never found anything in the visors of that truck either.
  12. Putzing around in PV... because, why not? And when you only have Cooking Level 2, you should spend more time in the Reading Room, before cooking and eating that questionable 34% Tomato Soup...
  13. OP... you have talked to all of the survivors in beds at the Community Hall after bringing back the IDs, and talked with Father Tom?
  14. Yeah, I found that my second time in BI. Nice little area, some decent loot there.
  15. Yes. Absolutely. Would also be good for dragging stunned rabbit to you for pickup too. Though, get the feeling that Bullwinkle and Old Grumpy would both look at you and give you a "Oh, no. You didn't. You did. You should not have..."
  16. Stones are iffy, but do work in Stalker to a degree. And, lol, there are more than 5 stones in BI,, usually in groups of 2-3 near bunny areas. But, they are a pain to lug around, or carry in from another region. But they will work to break just enough morale to get the Timbers to back up for a second. You better be ready with a Marine Flare or a weapon like a rifle (or bow & arrows) right away, and have steady aim, though. And yeah, you better hit several Timbers in the schnozz, directly, with those stones. Marine flares you can throw at their feet, stones need to hit them in a tender spot, it seems. I would not count on them as your only defense, unless you have no other choice. And then... good luck to you. Hope there is shelter to sprint to really nearby.
  17. No, XBox One and PS4 do not have session logs, like a PC version of the game does... with the exception of XBox One Play Anywhere on PC. A session log will be generated on the PC, but not on the console. OP, have you tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling it from scratch? (Yeah, I know... it can take a while, depending on your connection speed and stability). I'd also look into XBox One Troubleshooting steps, such as a power cycle reset (hard reboot of the console)... try this first.
  18. There was a recent thread on this with a poll: 3 1/2 years I have been playing, I have never found anything behind a visor, or had anything fall from a visor. It may have been true in earlier versions of the game, or been a bug that popped up from time to time. But in all of the much older Time Capsule versions I have played on Steam, I have not found anything in those early builds either.
  19. Rope ladder? New crafting recipe? Maybe? This, and knowing how evil devs can be at times, just makes me think it isn't going to be a regular old ladder... Rope + Fir (X number) + knife or hatchet for crating? Just a thought, not near BI or a workbench right now (and I have no rope yet, lol), in PV looting. But once I get some rope and am near a workbench, I 'll see if I get a new recipe. Maybe someone can check the milling machine workbench? Just a semi-random thought.
  20. Or it could be a missing or corrupted file. What platform are you playing on?
  21. Who said they were bringing them to all regions? Hinterland didn't. A bunch of us players have talked about it, and may have wondered about it. But for now, we have no idea if they will be added to other regions or not.

    Aurora no-show

Lol! First off, you are posting in the wrong subforum. 4DoN is for the Halloween event, 4 Days of Night. Check the Survival Stories subforum, lots of threads about Bleak Inlet there, which is what it seems like you are asking about? Getting into the new workshop?
