The cabin fever thing is real. In Coastal Highway my 'vacation home' is the fishing hut between the town site and Misanthrope's Island. You can spread a sleeping roll out on to of the storage cabinets and keep the stove running in the overnight while camping or going fishing! Yummers! I also have about a metric ton of lamp oil if anybody needs some. Ah fresh air and peace and quiet...

Thanx 4 the recommendation, fun to watch but should have hired one or more actual scientists to dial back some of the mistakes. "Arctic" is not exactly The Long Dark the movie but it has some of the same vibe. (Spoiler below) My best guess is that the 'catastrophe' is a sudden and simultaneous eruption of multiple supervolcanos around the world. Any other ideas?

Right U R, Wiz! Welcome to the wacky world of SPEED L00Ting! I just got my "Umbra" badge and holy cow did I have to earn it. You have to loot-on-the run and plan your rout VERY carefully. No hording, no loot stashes, no I'll keep this just in case". You have to travel light with only what you absolutely can't do without. Remember this is a game that is supposed to last just a short time, so think of only what you need right now or in ten minutes. Enjoy!

I'd guess because Raph and Devs want it to be special. I got my "Umbra" badge but I missed the day 3 4 and 5 badges last year. If Darkwalker were permanent then my badge would loose value along with the bragging rights. Just a thought. Awesome work Devs and Raph!

Interesting take... There actually is a very real phenomena known as 'woods panic' or 'forrest panic'. Being alone in the woods at night can cause your mind to play some pretty horrific tricks on you. There are accounts of people, not all of them n000bs, completely loosing their minds when in circumstances like these. If you put anyone alone in the wilderness long enough there is no telling what it may do to their sanity. Anyone have a survivor game over 365 days? Darn right. Someone in the grip of that kind of panic would be able to imagine almost anything and would 100% legit be in a state to get themselves killed. If you could convince someone 'paint THIS symbol on that tree there and our campsite will be safe' might actually work. The Darkwalker in you head can still get you killed. I like it.

Hello! Winters's Embrace has been tons of fun (GOT the 25 day badge!) but I've been unable to find enough ketchup chips and maple syrup for the Maple Badge. I've searched the whole game and am currently pinned down by a lizzard in my favorite cave in Hushed River Valley. Sadly I'm low on coffee and its too damned hostile here to do anything but collect food and more firewood. This has been a terrific challenge but I was really hoping for that badge. Oh well, it has been really great giving it a go and I'd like to thank Raph and the DEVs for putting this on for us. :)
