  1. Keepers Pass is a bit wolfy but not too bad , I like The Ravine better for the deer and abundance of birch bark
  2. I'm sitting at 36 days on this map and the prison which I thought was a starvation trap isn't so much after all. First off I needed to get a bear for the hide as my bedroll condition is starting to lower (33%) so I managed to make myself over to the western side of the map. I eliminated a pack of timber wolves guarding the trailer. So I held up at the trailer for a few days. I then went over the little bridge to a nice high safe spot and shot the bear. He died right near where I shot him so I managed to harvest his hide and the meat. I left most of the meat right by the carcass so if starvation ever was an issue I could go back there and grab a few ruined steaks. I went back the prison and set up a little rabbit snare trap line in the back and some more wolves spawned so I eliminated them again so now I have a nice stockpile of food while I wait for the hide to cure. And surprise the bear spawned here in the prison so now I can add even more meat to my huge stockpile. The map although infested with timber wolves is challenging it's not a total death trap.
  3. So I am holding up at the prison again as I creep towards 30 days on this map. Went all the way to the mine earlier in the run and forgot the noise makers so I made a return trip today. A couple of deer spawned by the prison so I' m sticking around here a bit for now. I need to explore the western edge of this map so a trip down the steam tunnels to the power plant is on the agenda as I want to go take out the bear for his hide. I have set some snares in the back of the prison so caught a few rabbits now to top up my food. I will say this is a better spot for the ammunition bench than the Bleak Inlet one simple because there is no obstacle course to it and I can go there and back to my base at the gatehouse. Would have been nice if they put a rope deploy on the dock so one could climb back up into the workshop without the long course.
  4. 20 days into my Blackrock visit , I spent a few days at the substation clearing out a couple packs of timber wolves so I had a huge stockpile of meat. Then I managed to make my way to the prison where I managed to get the vest. Then I went for a visit to the mine to get the code and the noise makers and them back to the prison. The prison I had cleaned up all the scrawny wolves living there so found the place a bit of a starvation trap so I crept over to the Foreman's trailer and that's where I'm hunkered down for now. I cleared out the timber wolves here and there are some nice deer spawns. The moose is just down the road so thinking I might go hunt him for something to do. Basically want to explore the entire region. So far stealth has served me well here dealing with the wolves. The weather is windy so not great weather for outdoor cooking and I'm not getting very many Mag lens days. I'm near the Timberwolf Mountain transition cave so still debating to go back to PV through there.
  5. I will visit the prison but not get too hung on that vest LOL after seeing the screenshot of your poor pantless survivor.
  6. My strategy on the timber wolves in to crouch and just crawl up on a safe perch staying crouched. Luring them with rocks and then shooting them. I make sure it's far enough away I they don't detect me. Most of the time I can hit them first shot and they usually run off yelping with my arrow. Lost a few arrows though as they bugger off to who knows where and the weather is pretty crappy so not much help from the crows.
  7. I got my Interloper survivor to Blackrock and have spent 10 days at the substation. My methodical approach has been good but I am making slow progress to my goal of actually going to the prison. Timber wolves and bad weather have slowed me so far. Cleared 2 packs here already and have 3 to harvest yet. But there is ANOTHER pack of timber wolves blocking the way to the prison. Thinking once I get there I am going to go make some noisemakers as I have lost some of my arrows already. I find the weather here not that forgiving it seems to blizzard constantly almost like PV not many sunny days for a Mag lens so am trying to pile raw meat waiting for a nice day.
  8. So I started my 50 day stay on Blackrock Region today . Had a bit of a tough start as I caught a blizzard just as I was entering the region and I hunkered down by a fire and it didn't relent until after dark. So I had to kill the wolf guarding the creek as you enter the region in the dark so no easy task. But now I have set up shop at the electrical tower which looks like a nice base camp having a burn barrel right by the work bench. Should be good for warding off cabin fever. Made one mistake as I only packed one bow with me in this region and it's at 73% so have to scout around for some maple saplings. Going with a cautious approach for now as I have not seen any timber wolves ..... yet .
  9. I completed the 50 day stay here and am currently in the transition zone between Pleasant Valley and Blackrock Prison. I had a boring final 20 days on Bleak Inlet as I had charcoaled the map good. Spent those day fishing and gathering wood. So I packed a whole bunch of cloth and metal over to the Spence Farmstead spent a day forging a whole bunch of arrow heads so now have a whopping 28 arrows in my pouch. So I made my way to the Camp Office through the dam and then lost my well fed bonus in Pleasant Valley as I had not left myself enough food and had to scrounge for rabbits. The plan is to map out this new region and make my way to Blackrock Prison.
  10. I'm going to do a very cautious approach when I go there (currently in Bleak Inlet) going to forge a whole bunch of arrows and just sort of deal with one wolf pack at a time. If I can find a nice safe perch where they can't get me there is no timber wolf safe from my bow Regular wolves in the prison I think I can get most of them from high up. If I crouch and throw rocks to lure them they will just saunter into good shooting position. It will be a challenge though for sure Bleak has been tough already (namely weather though) so far.
  11. I'm trying to save the coal as I need to go back to Spence Farmhouse after and forge more arrow heads. The wolves here tend to run off with them and I have trouble finding them after LOL
  12. The wind is bad and I have been using the bear cave. To stave off boredom I'm just trying to map the region for something to do.
  13. My survivor is closing in on 500 days and I have started doing 50 day stays in all regions. I'm currently in Bleak Inlet about 15 days in and I have to say on Interloper this is not a welcoming region. I have plenty of food since I'm staying in the cabin by the fishing hut. I can ward off cabin fever fishing. I killed the bear here so have lots of meat. Timber wolves are the real issue in this region as I have had to use my bow to fend them off. I managed to make it into the work shop but couldn't do much there other than make more arrows and collect all the loot. Firewood seems to be the resource that is costing me health. I have to venture quite a ways from my cabin to find any wood and the wind here is brutal so I lose a ton of health just going to collect sticks. So my routine is pretty simple spend a couple days gathering wood then a day ice fishing and boiling water.
  14. Although there may be no reason to enter Black Rock region there is still the need to challenge yourself a bit. I'm taking my long run interloper survivor with level 5 archery and hopefully depopulate that prison.
  15. My current Interloper survivor is over 400 plus days so I started staying in regions for 50 days straight for a challenge and I entered Broken Railroad around day 350 and it started to blizzard just as I entered so I just rushed to the Maintenance Shed without taking shelter. I had all the best cloths bear / moose coat etc. I took a fair amount of damage but arrived alive and spent the next couple days cleaning up the wolves in the front yard from the open door.
  16. I really enjoyed the video Zac some good pointers on dealing with timber wolves I have a 400 plus day survivor destined for Blackrock. Hoping I do half as well as your day 1 survivor done.
  17. Just watching Zaks video just a thought do you use blizzards when you know the travel route well to avoid wolves. I know I sometimes will go running in a blizzard if I want to get to a wolf infested place (Maintenance Shed on Broken Railroad) without having to stealth or fight may though. Am I the only crazy person to do this.
  18. Great video Looking forward to seeing how far you make it.
  19. There are some good starting places Timberwolf Mountain is pretty good starting spot because you usually get hacksaw or hammer at the Crystal Lake and a whole bunch of cat tails which can keep you fed until you can make your way to Mystery Lake / Forlorn Muskeg. PV can be a good starting point as well as you can get some decent clothes then make your way to Timberwolf or Coastal Highway. Don't like Desolation Point Start as it means going into Crumbling Highway early game which is very tough due to wolves.
  20. Great job making it this long without going to the forge. I would have long ago made for the Spence Homestead to get my bow and arrows done. I'm not going to tell you where to go next from Milton. My current 300 plus interloper player is in Hushed River Valley in the cave near the Stairsteps Lake. Had to deal with a bear and 4 wolves already so far in the first week
  21. Thank You Hinterland I have played the Long Dark about as much as classic titles like Warlords II. Just an awesome game that just keeps getting better. Can't wait to explore the next cool region
  22. Gonna change it up and say Bleak Inlet. I play interloper so I find the region tends to hem you down a bit. I usually set up my base at the cabin by the fishing hut. But soon discover I have to forage a long ways to get firewood and sticks. Timberwolves everywhere is the other thing and with no need to craft bullets so the cannery seems to be a novelty. I used to think Forlorn was bad but once you have a good archery skill you really can live long term with the amount of game there.
  23. Good luck in Milton , not sure which is safer Paradise Farms or the trailer for rabbit snaring
  24. Always like more cool mini regions but a connector somewhere behind the bear cave or near the road. Maybe some treacherous rope climbing and unstable ground. End up in Coastal near car by the bridge or by bear creek cave.
  25. I think you are correct @Syraith the devs didn't expect anyone to be 🐐 around the cliffs of Mountain Town . Likely just an unfinished scene likely the other side from the bus crash.
