  1. I dont necessarily like randomly spawning in HRV but I certainly dont mind travelling there after I've been decently outfitted. however, once you start exploring the area and can set up some decent camps in the caves, exploring becomes a little easier when you have an area you can immediately fall back to. Those ice cave tunnel connections are the hardest thing for me to figure out, you end going in one place and coming out in a completely different area on the map... Otherwise you do find a decent amount of loot to keep it interesting. Just remember to bring some cooking pots, I never have found a single cooking pot in that region, lol.
  2. I'm sure you're gonna generate a little commentary on this issue considering the current disposition of this topic by the Hinterland Team. Part of the road map laid out long ago was to eventually promote some community generated content where mods could be implemented that insured proper integration and allowed for technical support. The project however still seems to be somewhere on the horizon for now. Never the less, given the creativity and technical know how by the modding community, there are currently a number of unsanctioned mods available that currently integrate seamlessly and flawlessly bringing those that use them great enjoyment in their gameplay. (at least until the next update...) I'm sure that most of the current reluctance to open up modding is the fact that Episodes 4 & 5 are still pending. Or, maybe, just maybe, they are reluctant because they would rather avoid the drama similar to what Bethesda brought upon themselves when they introduced the Creation Club and then started charging users for the privilege to do so. But when they do, you can imagine we'll get some excellent content. As for now, playing with non-sanctioned is not supported, nor promoted but nobody is going to stop you from playing the game your way. Everybody playing with unsanctioned mods know that updates can affect gameplay adversely and that is risk the player has to take on their own. That being said, there are some genuinely good mods out there worth checking out now.
  3. Stone Church Triptych in red to blue hue Looks like great minds think alike, eh @Truff91
  4. Congratulations! So, whatcha think? gonna keep playing for a while or what?
  5. LOL, playing the long survival game over 500 days should probably more aptly be named "The Iron Will to Keep Playing Challenge!" Yeah, all things being equal, they should update the merit badges to include awards for extra long term survival. It is hard to stay motivated and continue to play a character when there's not much to do expect pass time because you got everything dialed in just right. I can see why Cabin Fever is a necessary part of the game, regardless of it's clunky application, because boredom both real and figurative manifest themselves in the long game.
  6. The only time I was able to turn around in car was when I entered the car by the Stone Church in DP while in crouched mode. I ended up saving the game whilst being in the car. At startup on the next play I was sitting under the car and could look all the way around from underneath. Interesting perspective for sure. I snapped a bunch of pics and shared here on the forums, in case you wanna check them out. Has this only happened in this one car you mention? Have you been able to duplicate this glitch in any other walkthroughs?
  7. thank you! I actually lined the deck of the lighthouse with the red flares before leaving to take my screenshots. I fired a number of pistol flares trying to get one to land on the railing but the mostly dropped to the ground below!
  8. nice close up of the elusive albino stag in story mode. that is a perfect pink ear! nice pic!
  9. i hope you havent harvested anything yet and try to light those fires... now that would have been a great pic for sharing on screenshots!
  10. I stared wistfully out at the horizon to the mountains on the mainland. I realized then and there I might not be going home for while... I waited until dusk and under the aurora of the night sky I fired my first flare round up into the night ski the flare, it fell to earth with significant force to make a loud dull thump and there it just burned sitting on the ice. Remorsefully I turned towards the sea and again I fired a flare in hope that anyone, please anyone, might see it and rescue me with an audible splash, the flare dropped into the water and immediately sank from sight, although the water continued to smoke of some time afterward. I'm never getting of this f**king island...
  11. you just never know what's in a crate... what's inside? Awesome! crate full of dried rosehips! holy snickerdoodles Batman!!!
  12. I found these laid out like this when I returned to my base the other day. something felt off while I was out like someone or something was watching me. of these thing is not like the others...
  13. dont remember seeing anything about this here, so forgive if its old news... did you know that you can always find some goodies under the cloth in the closet in Grey Mother's house at the top of the stairs? usually I find rifle ammo and coffee behind the hanging blanket. also there's a revolver round in the metal pail by the doorway most of the time
  14. good eye, yeah the first one jumped me and fended him off with the knife. I'll go look for his dead carcass after I'm sure he doesnt have any buddies left out there!
  15. I love the idea of sausages! yum! It would be enough work just to introduce another object like the "sausages" into the game by having to model and paint the before and after cook objects let alone design and build the grinder that would be needed in OP's suggestion. I'd be happy to just see the recipe option pop up when I click on my cookpot and then the sausages just appear in my cookpot minus the meat and gut from my inventory.
  16. Desolation Point cave under the broken bridge Having just battled my way past a ferocious and fangy wolf guarding the interior of this cave, I found this poor fellow up a narrow passageway that lead to a small alcove overlooking a large underground chamber. As I shone my light over the precipice I glanced a half eaten deer carcass down below. It all began to make sense as I surveyed the scene before me... My poor friend here either in an attempt to seek shelter from the weather or perhaps followed a wounded deer into the cave ultimately we will never know, appears to have also encountered the resident wolf as evidenced from the bloody badge lying beside him. I surmise that he was attacked upon entering and as he retreated stumbling about in the semi darkness went up the narrow passageway by accident until he reached the dead end of the alcove. Still with the presence of mind of his predicament he was able to make a fire and tend to his wounds. Looks like he passed out while trying to reload his rifle. In his unconscious state the fire died out and subsequently also did the life of our fellow adventurer. I salvaged what I could, liberating him of a good rifle (88%) plus 3 rounds of ammo in addition to a new MRE, chocolate bar and orange soda. On the way out, I harvested the remaining meat from the deer carcass and the wolf as well. all in all, a pretty good day for spelunking...
  17. yeah, i dont think that end of the map connects to CH considering that you're at the most southwestern edge of Bleak Inlet. I'd venture to guess that the collapsed tunnel on the road up from the cannery residences might possibly be the route that connects CH to BI? So if not CH, where do you think this stretch of highway leads to? I'm looking forward to the day when all the regions have been revealed and their connective routes explained.
