There should totally be some form of meat preservation in the game. there is salt, so you could cure the meat (and you could make the salt renewable by giving a small amount by boiling water in coastal regions) or, you could smoke the meat. you could also add downsides such as the salt-cured meat making you extremely thirsty, or the smoked meat needing a long fire in order to make it in the first place. and some upsides could be heavily reduced decay rates and possibly making the meat lighter.
im hoping when i get home to revive this challenge. i enjoyed it a lot, and i think it would be fun to attempt on my own. might post about it, might not.

I can't find anything specific on the topic, not through the forums or the dev diaries. i think its a thing? I've seen animals where i don't remember seeing them before, and it would make sense if they were refreshed during the release of the doe or the ptarmigans. So i personally believe it happened, but i can't find anything specifically stating that they were refreshed.
perhaps it could be like the already existing skill books, having a set number of hours, and then after that, they would be fully read and now rendered unreadable. or, after reading it the first time, they could no longer give xp.
I was simply stating that as perhaps a reward for reading instead of just the standard passing of time, and that books are non-renewable (to my knowledge), it could give skill points to a random skill. it would be a slight chance, and only a very minuscule point amount, if more than one point at all.
Rock Cache. i've never made a rock cache. dont think ive ever needed one, but it seems like i would have used it before, because for some reason i like to choose bases with little to no storage, but i've never made a rock cache.
to be fair, while i see your point, i kinda think that i would know if i was bleeding and wouldn't go to bed because of it.
maybe it could be a feature that you could turn off or on, or maybe it would just be on the easier modes.
i definitely think that they should be a way to pass time. i just kinda enjoy the idea of random xp, it doesn't have to be much, maybe just a single point and a very, very small chance. just kinda maybe the character "picking up something" that he didnt notice before, or a tip for something.
