  1. A view nice views from where I'm starting the new (hopefully a little more refined) Forestry Lookout: This is Spawn... this is where the first tower is going (no ifs, and, or buts). Not just an ordinary island... this one has some wonderful terrain features. I kind of love it here. The view from my current favorite fishing spot... That smoke signal, that's Spawn and the future site of said Forestly Lookout Tower. Here's the temporary shelter... and for this one I just liked the view....
  2. Well done. I always appreciate the creativity of folks making their own personal challenges. I've always been a vocal proponent of the idea that we can drastically change our player experience simply by choosing to change the way we play. I think this one is rather interesting. It reminds me a little of a side challenge where I was forcing myself to live out in the open at the "park" next to the Church at Thompson's Crossing. The idea was to keep the fire alive for as long as possible and could only take shelter there to tank the blizzards of Pleasant Valley. It was a nice little camping trip that I ended up keeping going for 31 days. - I was really just there to try to speed up mending progress, work on my "Straight to the Heart" merrit badge, and go for my "Blizzard Walker" merrit badge. (I know I'll never use feats... but I do still enjoy earning the badges ) Honestly, I love your idea for a personal challenge. I wish you well on your current adventure.
  3. So far, I've not encountered any serious bugs since the release of Frontier Comforts. I may still get a session in on it here and there, I think I'm mostly going to wait for the next round of hotfixes. (seems more reasonable than playing knowing there are possibly terminal bugs and gripe about it when I get by one of those terminal bugs ) In the meantime (and for the first time really)... I found a world seed I'm actually pretty taken with. Found a good spot for another Forestry Lookout inspired tower. 🤭
  4. I will clarify just one last time. I didn't say I found your situation funny. As I mentioned before, it was just how often the subject of interior darkness gets discussed. Also as I said before: Once more I'll state: In all honestly... the solution to the darkness is to use a light source. I think it's fair to say that's what's intended. I'll dig a little bit deeper using the Search Function to illustrate what I mean: ...also if push comes to shove... we have flares, matches, and we can even fire off flare shells if we are really hard up for light. Yes, the darkness can seem overwhelming (it's one of the hardships that TLD asks us to face)... but fret not, for we have many options to light up the darkness.
  5. I've played recently as well... I don't find this to be the case.
  6. To be clear, I wasn't making of fun of the poster... just how frequently the subject appears. In all honestly... the solution to the darkness is to use a light source. I think it's just part of the game design. The easiest work around (as mentioned before) is to simply change the brightness to the desired level.
  7. I'm just making an observation here... but this type of post shows up after nearly every update. I just think that's funny.
  8. @bysinda Well, I'm certainly not trying to be critical of anyone who likes the idea 🤭... just trying to convey why I don't really look forward to it. And since it's been talked about a lot over the last few years, it seemed easier to just cite those previous conversations.

  10. @Admin Has there by chance been any indication from the team on whether this is something that's in the works? Has the team weighed in on the possibility of making the Glimmer Fog's (visual) effect something that could be toggled/lessened with an Accessibility Option; for those whom the effect creates real issues for?

  12. ...I don't know... it seems like you're assuming most people don't care; you can't know that for a fact. It's so odd how folks make assumptions about things that may not personally affect them. It doesn't personally affect me either... but that doesn't mean it doesn't benefit others. I recommend folks thinking a little beyond themselves for things like this. A few extra seconds is objectively not a big inconvenience. Hinterland put it there for a reason, I think that reason ought to be respected. And I think folks might do well to feel glad that such a trivial thing could annoy them... I think it indicates they probably have themselves a pretty comfortable situation if an additional bit of text before they can get started playing their recreational videogame is what they are annoyed by. That's all for me on this conversation. I'm not interested in getting into an argument. If we don't agree... that's okay.
  13. Yes... pretty much right away. I was very lucky, I think. I'm not hunting on this run... so I guess they are lucky too.
  14. @bysinda That's a fair statement... but that doesn't mean we can't still strive to be better.
  15. The negative reactions to issues and/or bugs that crop up after an update have always been mostly the same. 🤭 So, I think it bears repeating: Hang in their survivors... it's going to be alright. *Bugs from updates are pretty common, we know they'll get addressed with hotfixes and patches fairly quickly. Hinterland has always been pretty quick with fixes for release day bugs.
  16. Hmm... just because someone starts a post with "I don't mean to be insulting" isn't a magic shield that allows one to go on to be insulting anyway. Accusing Hinterland of offloading their Quality Control / Quality Assurance / Play Testing and Troubleshooting is (in my opinion) extremely insulting and more than a little out of bounds. Do you have personal firsthand knowledge of what Hinterland is doing and prioritizing from day to day? I tend to doubt it.
  17. I don't think it's really an issue... I appreciate Hinterland going a little out of the way to help give folks who have those issues a reasonable warning. Folks may complain about the time... it's really just sufficient enough time to actually read it (which again is important if you happen to be one of those people who are affected by it). In my opinion a few extra seconds before I get to start my session isn't anything to complain about... especially when a trivial delay is achieving some real good.
  18. I started out fairly early the next morning but was able to make back to the Park Office to sort and stow before too much of the morning slipped away. Also made my first sighting of Ptarmigans. They are safe though, I'm not hunting... 😐 ...for now. After I quickly dropped off my gear and supplies... I that decision to make. Ultimately, I've decided to leave Milton untouched until I've explored the rest of the region. So, it was onward to St. Christopher's Church. This little bridge between Milton and Paradise Meadows is a great place to hunker down and take shelter from a blizzard. There's room enough for a shielded campfire under there. A hunting knife and revolver ammo in this pulpit... I dread to think of what kind of sermon they last held here. 😖 It's dangerous today... but I can't come by here and not visit Lily's grave... I just can't. And that's when the blizzard hit. Rather than take shelter in the Church (I was not about to stay there), I pushed on ahead and kept close to the ridgeline to find this trailer further up the hill. I suppose I could have pressed on across the road to the nearby cave... but this was good enough progress for one day (given the weather). Tomorrow, I'll head for the Spruce Falls Bridge.
  19. @Admin Also of note... I find that I can no longer right click an item from the radial in order to place it. Found as I was trying to drop off water one bottle at a time. Tested on the other areas of the radial found the same to be true.
