  1. I won't go into details, but there is mod that lets you select an Interloper starting location. Seems innocent enough. I guess another option is to do a custom game, with the Loper pre-config settings.
  2. I could be wrong but it seems that most items in the game have a simple variable, Condition. That is based upon time. Say we add in another variable, Frozen. That variable would not be based on the simple parameter of time, but instead, a constantly changing variable of temperate of that specific spot in the world. For example, you have (2) 0% frozen fish. Place one here by this car and another 50 feet away behind a tree. The temperatures will vary widely in those 2 locations. Track that for every "frozenable" food item in the game...yikes. I'm also a developer
  3. I was always somewhat fearful of this zone as well on my runs. It would always be the last place I visit so that I was as prepared as possible (mainly clothing). On one of my longer-more established saves, I made a point of completely scouring the zone. It took some time, but I eventually knew my way around quite well. I love it now. As others have mentioned, with the abundance of caves, survival isn't difficult at all (once you know where they are!).
  4. My longest is around 1800 days (been a while since I've played that save). It's one of the first saves I played on TLD and I've been playing on and off since the beginning. I used that save to get the Cartographer ach, max all skills, find all cairns, notes, etc. It's such a long game, I get a real kick if I find anything I may have missed - a un-broken crate, a reishi mushroom, etc. Oh, I've also broken down every item in the game (to my knowledge).
  5. This would seem realistic, but I think trying to have the game architecture account for each item and the freezing/thawing that could occur as temperatures fluctuate constantly would be troublesome.
  6. Glad I'm not the only one! It's very frustrating. I've noticed it on some deer carcasses as well - I actually have to move my mouse at some miniscule point OFF the carcass.
  7. And/or utilizing ropes to reach lower areas (I'm thinking of HRV Ice Caves).
  8. Area, Object, History, etc. that you wish Hinterland would expand upon? I have many, but the one that prompted this post was the barred-off areas of mines. I hope for the day that we can use our hacksaw to cut through them and fully explore those mines!
  9. I start on the driver's side - open the hood (if possible) to check for battery, front door - sweep the dashboard, floor and glove box (Canadians love their driving gloves! :)), back door - sweep the floor and seat, trunk. Still don't bother with the visors.
  10. Getting inspiration from @piddy3825, I have started a new Story Mode game. I haven't played it since ep3 came out. What has become apparent to me is that there is so much content that could be pulled into Survival mode. For example, I just heard an acoustical guitar version of the main theme song. Why can't we get that in Survival? All the survival notes? Yes, they are a bit more applicable to give Story mode some depth, but I think they could apply to Surv as well? And, I'm only about an hour into ep1!
  11. I remember going to a party where the hosts had both dogs and cats. They would put the cat dish in a raised place where the dogs couldn't reach it. On this particular party, someone got very drunk and was eating the cat food thinking it was a party snack. They never lived it down.
  12. I've submitted a support ticket.
  13. "This is my rifle, this is my gun..."
  14. I'm guessing my user profile save file isn't working properly. Does anyone know where those are stored? I thought it was at: C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Hinterland\TheLongDark
  15. Going to break out of my comfort zone a bit:
  16. What is yours? Why? Could be anything! Mine has the Carter Hydro Dam. Why? It's one of the original game locations, the largest, the involvement it's had with Story Mode, the sounds, the unique features...I could go on.
  17. Finished up in BRR, back to FM and hit Spencer's and surrounding area, High Blind, Muskeg Overlook then on to ML. Up to Camp Office, then onto Lake cabins. I've been keeping track of inventory with a spreadsheet (which I will share when complete). I have been using Sewing Kits but plan to use Fishing Tackle from here on (another oversight on my part). I've given up on taking screenshots since I have already dropped multiple loads without taking pictures - but I am continuing my inventory count. Got my cooking lvl to 4. Really looking forward to 5 so I can begin eating bear and wolf I've been accumulating. I have been cooking coffee and tea but have not consumed any yet.
  18. Cat tastes better than dog so no need for cat food...
  19. My first (and only) run was about 2.5 hours. I got the badges and began getting careless (and drunk).
  20. But you're okay with sluggin' down a can of dog food? 😆
  21. For most (if not all) ailments, if you look at your player status screen, it shows the ailment(s) and what is needed to cure them.
